In this essay I will be evaluating the claim in the question by using the relevant materials and examples to support my answer, also by using contemporary information I will then conclude a section on whether or not the traditional budgetary system should be abandoned or not. In simple words a traditional budget indicates the amount of money you allot during a time period. This can be things related to a business or a company e.g. rent costs or insurance. It is clearly designed to help a business spend their income according to a well calculated plan. As the inception of the traditional budget it fundamentally starts with the income and then sets out the categories on which you expect to spend your money, when the time period for the plan is ending you keep accurate records which allow you to then see how closely your spending matched your budget.
Even though the claim in the question is against traditional budgeting there are some strengths in which it can fall back on. The main reason for a budget is its idea to think towards the future, setting clear goals and possibly providing motivation for workers of a company to strive towards a sustainable future. The main planning characteristic of a budget is when managers propose a plan of action taking into consideration business prospects, resource constrains and risk, (Merchant, 2012).
