• Most of the expressway adjacent land along the road is owned by the Government, except some farms and installations owned by private. There are 176 official and private installations and adjoining to this expressway; many of them are assembling randomly on the right of way. These installations include; Police posts, Army posts, check points, Commercial (stand-alone) privately owned rest areas. With the constrained scenario, traffic flow has improved, commute time has decreased, workers are getting to their places of business faster, and the businesses themselves are finding that they can transport their goods in a more timely fashion. The measures that were employed consist of adding directional bike lanes to the bridge, restriping the bridge combined with timed directional transition of the middle 5th lane, additional bus routes, and converting old buildings into domiciles. Although these measures have helped to improve traffic flow in the region, capital will have to be spent at a future date in order to add additional
The United States aversion towards former Iraqi president, Saddam Hussein, began nearly thirty years ago after the Iraq invasion of Kuwait. Post-invasion there was international animosity towards the Hussein regime, causing the U.S to step in and take action in an attempt to control and restructure the Iraq government. In 2000, when George W. Bush took office, U.S foreign policy adopted a more aggressive stance with the overall goal being the removal of Saddam Hussein from any governmental position. Bush actively started moving forward with this plan post 9/11 when allegations were made of possible relations between Hussein and Al-Qaeda leader, Osama Bin Laden as well as beliefs that Iraq was developing and planning to use weapons of mass destruction.
Iraq consists mainly of desert, however, near the Euphrates and Tigris rivers there are fertile plains. The north of the country is mostly composed of mountains Iraq has a small coastline along the Persian Gulf. To the south is Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Muslim is the primary religion in Iraq with more than 95%of the country claiming to be Muslim. There are four main languages which are spoken in Iraq; Arabic, Kurdish, Assyrian, and Armenian.
This can cause problems when it comes to local events that bring in tourist to attend. By having limited ways for the local community to get around they tend to fill up local parking areas. This prevents tourist from finding parking spots of their own and can limit the amount of people to attend local events. By having other means for the local community to get around can prevent this issues along with reduction of motorized traffic and environmental impacts.
Our organization Nature Iraq does really important work to support the Mesopotamian Marshlands. Our work has changed the environment for the better. For thousands of years, the marshlands influenced the culture by providing the necessary materials like reeds and animals. Some examples of the necessary materials are water, food, and many other natural materials. Reeds are a type of grass that grows in the Mesopotamian waters. This plant is very strong, it is used to make many goods. It is used in the marshlands to make houses, rugs, and boats. Some of the animals that survive and live in Mesopotamian marshlands are fish, coot and much more. Then, in the 1980s, Saddam Hussein changed the geography by building canals and draining the water from
From 3000 B.C. to 300 B.C. civilizations have been able to settle in Mesopotamia, modern day Iraq, the region between the Tigris and Euphrates River. Just as each new civilization learned from the remains left behind, historians now study the same remains to connect the dots as to how we are here today.
The Highlands are in northeast Iraq and are an extension of the mountainous region that runs eastward from the Balkans through southern Turkey, northern Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan, and the Himalayas. The northeastern highlands begin near Mosul to Kirkuk and continue to the borders with Turkey and Iran. This area is very high ground, separated by broad, rolling steps, leading to mountains ranging from 3,281 to 13,123 feet near the Iranian
The number half a million is the same number of how many people died from the war in Iraq. The U.S. invaded and occupied Iraq in 2003. This war started on March 20th and ended on May 1st. The stated reason for the war was that Saddam Hussein, the fifth president of Iraq, had developed weapons of mass destruction that posed a long-term threat to America. Recognizing the weapons of mass destruction, the U.S. stated that they were a threat to our security and our international peace was at risk. So former President, George W. Bush, declared war on Iraq on March 20th, 2003. As I stated earlier half a million people died from the war. If the U.S. have not taken action, then imagine how many people could have died if Iraq used the weapons of mass destruction. So invading Iraq was the best option for the U.S. To start, the weapons and Saddam Hussein were a threat to our security, our international peace was at risk, and thousands of more
Contrary to popular belief, Interstate highways don’t have one mile straight in every five miles to act as a landing strip but they do have a military role as they form part of the Strategic Highway Network, a system of roads identified as critical to the US Department of Defense.
The Ottoman Empire claimed both sides although the Persian side was not ruled by the Ottomans. Based on the strength of this, Iraq claimed the east bank (Iranian side) of the river, a critical piece of property, since
One of the most important elements of the Russian-led “New Mideast” is the inclusion of Iraq in the COR, which can be read as nothing more than the country’s wish to free itself from American proxy control and actually experience its first sense of independence since year 2003. Most Iraqis, and mostly their government (as can be indicated by their membership in the COR), are cognizant of the reality that the US had been using ISIL as its strategic weapon for actualizing Ralph Peters’ “Blood Borders”, even if kurdish, Sunni or Shia, appear to have eventually had enough. Over 13 years of full destruction and many false promises are enough to make even the most loyal American forces falter in their honesty, and the Iraqi expertise
