Traffic Pollution

Air pollution is generally any substance that people introduce into the atmosphere that has damaging effects on living things and the environment.(www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/global-warming/pollution/) There are many causes, effects and many reasons like the environment, public health, and any other reasons. Air pollution is harmful for our present and future lives and should be avoided at all costs.

There are various types of air pollution contributors in California such as fire generated pollutants and vehicle traffic, which add particulate matter and carbon monoxide into the air we breathe. According to an article by Union of Concerned Scientists (Cars, trucks, and air pollution, 2014) particulate matter is made up of fine particles soot and metal that can pose serious threats to human health when deep in the lungs. Other pollutants emitted from vehicles are: nitrogen oxide which lowers the body’s defense system against respiratory infections such as pneumonia, carbon monoxide which blocks oxygen from reaching vital organs, sulfur dioxide which is emitted by both power plants and vehicles affect children and asthmatics, and hazardous air pollutants (toxics) which are chemicals that are linked to cancer, birth defects and other illnesses (Union of Concerned Scientists, 2014).

Air Pollution today has lead CDC's fight against environmental -related respiratory illness, including asthma.An estimated number of 6.5 million deaths are attributed each year to poor air quality, making this the world's largest threat to human health.According to the World Energy Outlook and the IEA estimate that death due to household air pollution in Africa may decrease by 110,00 to 2040.However, due to economic growth, urbanization and automobile emissions, outdoor air pollution may rise from 300,00 to 450,000 over the same period. Am going to be looking at the causes of air pollution. the problems emerging with air pollution and also how we as a community can help decrease the amount of death rate associated with air pollution.I remember growing up in Africa Air pollution was always a talk about a subject that always comes out because it is really contagious due to the fact that we are breathing bad air that is caused by our human contribution to the environment.Air pollution is considered to be a public health problem, it is responsible for most of our health problems after some research has been conducted in many different parts of the world and regions. Transportation is an important factor in the United States of America. Many people need to get to a certain point at a certain time, and traffic gets worse day by day. Riding a bicycle would be the best kind of transportation for the Tampa Bay Area because it reduces pollution in the air, it allows people to exercise, and it cost less than a vehicle.

Traffic congestion is a major disadvantage in largely populated cities which can be diminished by limiting car usage. “...pitted sidewalks have been replaced by broad, smooth sidewalks; rush-hour restrictions have dramatically cut traffic...” (Source 3). The streets of China used to be full of bicycles, but the more recent economy upbringing has resulted in more car buyers. Moreover, Traffic on the road is growing every day, due to which traveling time even for nearby place takes hours. besides this, the increasing number of cars on the road is one of the key reasons for the increase in air pollution.

This article states that Road Rage leads to altercations, assaults and collisions that result in serious physical injuries or even death. There are so many accidents in China as a result of drivers' road rage. It can be referred to as an extreme case of aggressive driving. For now, the nation has made relative laws to control this behavior including let new driver receive education before their driving in order to keep people's life safe.

When dealing with handling large amounts of traffic, cities may experience a higher incidence of accidents or speeding cars due to road rage. Cities also deal with risking driver safety because some drivers may be tired from long hours at work and do not have enough energy to stay awake throughout the hours of traffic on the road home every day. Traffic congestion not only affects car drivers, but it may also delay the trip of those who get to places on the bus and in taxi cabs as well. On city roads, traffic congestion may lead to the death of many pedestrians by car accident because drivers may become impatient and outrageously try to run red lights or not stop at the crosswalks. Some potential solution are to build bridges or streets around the city that are made mainly for public transportation services such as the city bus or taxi cab in order to reduce the number of frustrated drivers on one road. What is air pollution? Air pollution is a serious health and environment problem. It refers to the contamination of air, irrespective of indoors and outdoors. A physical biological or chemical alteration to the air in the atmosphere can be termed as pollution. Air pollution can further be classified into two sections. Visible air pollution and invisible air pollution. Another way of looking at air pollution could be any substance that holds the potential to hinder the atmosphere or the well being of living beings surviving in it. The sustainment of all things living us due to a combination of gases that collectively form the atmosphere, the imbalance caused by the increase or decrease of the percentage of these gases can be harmful.

With a rapid level of industrialization and a growing population throughout the past couple of decades, China has become the world’s largest emitter. Consequently, through the combination of these two factors, the Asian country suffers from high levels of air pollution. Amongst many of the rapidly industrialized cities, Shanghai stands out as one of the greatest commercial and most industrial cities in China. For this reason, due to increases in population, energy consumption and infrastructural density, the levels of different health effects of air pollution have reached serious levels. From increases in heart diseases and mortality rates, to increases in respiratory conditions, it is clear that the city of Shanghai is suffering from epidemic levels of air pollution.
