All leaders should be able to comprehend that. I feel that the key to this trait is to have solid and strong leadership across the board. You can’t have weak leadership in one area and strong leadership in other areas. Once you have your strong leadership and sound strategy in place you should have mastered this trait of the supply chain. Intense focus on financial matters is a trait that is needed to run a successful supply chain. Every part of a supply chain focuses on finances and if you do not have them in order a business will definitely fail. “The goal is to help the financial folks more clearly understand the direct impact of supply chain initiatives on financial performance” (Poirier, Quinn, and Swink, 2009, pg 14). Adding value to the supply chain helps in the net of the supply performance. Effective delivery of traditional procurement capabilities, influence within the enterprise over both purchasing and strategic decisions, and identification of innovative ideas from a diverse range of inputs are also ways to strategize the financial impacts of a business (Supply Chain Digest). By using those characteristics, supply chains can improve their profits by huge numbers. A supply chain is very important to an organization. It can and should show the relationship between suppliers, distributors, managers and consumers. This paper would detail how important suppliers and distributions are to an organization’s success. And how important a supply chain is within an organization and how managers can utilize the supply chain. It is important that companies such as Target Corporations utilize the supply chain and gain competitive advantages. Target is one of the world’s largest retail stores; the first Target was opened in 1962 in Roseville, Minnesota (Target.com). By the end of 1962 there were only four Target and they were all operated in Minnesota.

For Customer service, supply chain is all about proving the logistics of delivering the right products at the right time. A tremendous amount of skill, time, and money must be present to build and develop relationships, discover and implement a strategy, and use the capabilities of the chain to build quality at an efficient financial rate. Allowing for these requirements, it leaves one to wonder whether supply chain management is a viable option. The answer is yes, because an organization needs a strong supply chain to compete and be profitable in the marketplace.
