Transgender Equality Everyone is assigned a gender at birth and they are expected to play the role of that gender. Everyone is expected to dress like, play like, and behave like whatever gender is assigned at birth. Humans in society today have it fixed in their brains’ that there is a specific way of living and any other way of living is wrong. So when people start to behave and dress like the gender opposite of the one given at birth, they are frowned upon and discriminated against. People fear things they do not understand and when that fear takes over, the misunderstood are treated poorly. Unfortunately, transgender people are very misunderstood and are often discriminated against. Transgender people are constantly being judged and ridiculed simply because they are different. It is true that accepting people that are different is difficult, but should a group of people be treated unfairly for being themselves? This is a big problem transgender people deal with daily. Discrimination against transgender people has made their lives really hard due to high unemployment rates, risk of incarceration, and constant threat of being harassed. Transgender people have so much to offer to the world, but until people accept them for who they are, the world will never see that. For these reasons, transgender equality should be enforced everywhere. Transgender people deserve to be treated equally because they are unable to get jobs and
People who identify as transgender need visibility in society so people can get educated on the matter and they can get what they need.
Since it was first discovered and translated, Beowulf has represented one of the finest examples of heroic poetry. As a tale reflecting the noble deeds of a hero, it uniquely expresses the cultural values of the Anglo-Saxons from whom it originated since heroes often do reflect the best of what their culture deems worthwhile. However, modern adaptations of this work express a different set of cultural values; values unique to modern society. When comparing the translated poem, Beowulf, to the 2005 motion picture, Beowulf and Grendel, it is obvious to see that our morals and ideas are reflected on this ancient poem. The movie, Beowulf and Grendel, and the epic, Beowulf, are prime examples of the radical cultural differences that have evolved over time.
When discussing injustices, it is pivotal--for the sake of true progressive social change--to include all oppressed groups into the dialogue. Transgender People tend to be heavily misrepresented and demonized. Because of transphobia, there
Transgenders have rights just like the rest of us. Some people freak out because they use the same restrooms as us, or they “are not using that correct restroom.” Other people oppose of their kids going to the same school as a transgenders just because the parents think that they “are not normal.” Transgender people also have rights to go into the military, Trump has banned any transgender from going into the military. Honestly transgender people don't have a title at all unless we give them a title.
It’s not hard to say that America has come so far into society and our freedom. How can our country forget when slavery ended in 1865 and gave women more rights in 1920. However, over time America has ignored the basic rights of transgender people. Transgender people are not any different from African Americans, or women. Why should they be treated any different, they're humans just like everybody else. They deserve the same basic treatment as a human rather than being treated like they're not from this planet. There are transgender people today who are getting harassed and tormented for just going into the bathroom for what they identify as. They should be able to go into a bathroom for which gender they identify as. Rather than making special bathrooms for transgender people that make them stand out and feel like they’re labeling themselves for using.
Have you or anyone close to you ever been discriminated before? Multiple types of gender discrimination has always been an issue and it’s time for it all to come to an end. Gender discrimination is discrimination that is based on someone’s gender or sex. Many people have faced it in different ways. I am researching the harm that is caused to different genders, the way women don’t get paid the same as men, and how LGBT people are discriminated in the workplace.
Majority of transgender people will face some sort of discrimination in their lifetime whether it is through being rejected by their families, denied housing or finding employment. “Employment discrimination forces many to become involved in the street economy and in survival crime. Widespread bias and ignorance among law enforcement and other officials mean that transgender people are disproportionately subjected to arrest and, in turn, imprisonment.” (al, 2011)
Transgender people are a diverse population of individuals who cross or transcend culturally defined categories of gender ( Bockting ,Miner, Romine, Hamilton and Coleman, 2013). The world is evolving and people need to become acceptance of others especially transgender individuals. Transgender individuals are a group of people most vulnerable to workplace discrimination (Bailey, 2013) due to those that are prejudice or dislike the ideal of those unknown to them. Therefore, for those people that are not aware of how to confront their prejudice or biases towards people that are transgender, they should be more open minded to understand and accept diversity. There is a lot we need to learn about this phenomenon so having the willingness to understand
Discrimination is the root of the limitations that transgender individuals have. There have been recent issues in public bathrooms within that past couple of years. There was a lot of controversy over the idea of a transgender man or woman using their preferred restroom. People were concerned about the potential of rape, and other crimes which in my opinion is ironic because someone who is transgender has to worry about this daily just because they are who they are and people do not agree with it. In fact, the Williams Institute completed a study focusing on transgender people in Washington DC. They
Germans were unhappy of low wages, protective tariffs, and the tremendous amount of money had to be paid for reparations. Germans were suffering from unemployment, too. In the past, German was good. After World War I, Germans had a lot of loans from the US which made German industries good. However, it didn’t last long. The Depression made America to pull out loans from Germany, which then made German banks go bankrupt, industries bad, and its workers unemployed. Hitler used this opportunity to seize power. Hitler promised to reform the economy, not pay the reparation anymore, find everyone a job, and give Germans the patriotic
Transgendered people in America have made many great strides since the 1990s. They have encountered violence, lack of health care, and the loss of homes, jobs, family and friends. There have been many phases of the struggle of being transgendered in America over the years. The current phase we must be in now is equal rights. There are many variations of discrimination against the transgendered community. In our society we simply do not like what we do not understand. It is easier to discriminate than to try and understand. We are all created different and we should appreciate our differences. The change must come by addressing the views of the public. There is much justification in the unequal rights of transgendered peoples. The Human
Watching the news one day I noticed that the reported was making a report about transgender people in the jails and how poorly this people are treated. I watched the all report and many of these transgender people have existed, many under different names and cultural identities in the past centuries. Transgender people since their birth they have been apparent to others and are attracted to discrimination, violence and harassment in many of the prisons. It’s really sad that many of these transgender go thru (through) the system in the criminal-justice and are never counted . However, a recent study shows that this people are starting to open up about all the discrimination that they are suffering in the different prisons. Many of this transgender individuals are only recently choosing to be recognized in the population as visible, rather than hiding their presence. Transgender, men and women feel very strongly, (T)they are fundamentally a different sex than the gender to which
The LGBT community has made new laws each day to bring equality to all. “Throughout its, America has symbolized equality of opportunity for people of all races, origins, religions and creeds, serving as a beacon of hope for anyone seeking a better life. However, despite its founding principles of equality and acceptance, the United States also has a long history of denying basic rights to certain people” (LGBT Equality). When the US discriminates against a certain thing people retaliate and rise up and try to make new laws to help their cause. The LGBT community has been striving to bring equality in many ways. The LGBT community has made great strides in gaining equality of same-sex marriage, gay adoption, and transgender equality.
Transgender people are discriminated on an almost daily basis. They are discriminated in the workplace, as shown in a study commisioned by the Equalities Review. In a group of transgender people who have jobs and are prone to workplace-enviroment effects and opinions, “many respondents experienced harassment from co-workers and employers.” Nearly 29% of the group experience verbal abuse and harassment in the workplace enviroment, and about 4% received physical abuse. About 7% experienced threats, and about 27% experienced some sort of different treatment due to their gender non-conforming ways.(Whittle 38-39). In another study, it was found that being mistreated in the school years would have a negative effect on future outcomes relating to employment. “Those who were physically attacked in school were considerably more likely to stay in a job (64%) compared to those who were not (42%) (Grant 50).” They are also discriminated in public as well, adding on to the distress that many transgender people suffer from regularly, making it seem as if all transgender people are crazy. Transgender people are just more likely to be diagnosed as someone with a mental disorder because its helpful to see that those who have been diagnosed are “hurting and something needs to be done to help (Kreitler 1).” In
Many people do not understand what it is like to be transgender but choose to speak over transgender people even when they say it is wrong and not how it is. If people would just listen to trans people then there would be less issues. To help people understand what is going on in this world for trans people I will explain what is happening in today’s world. I will show you some of the issues trans people face in the public eye. Even with talking about all of theses different experiences they are still not everyone's point of view and can not be taken as something every trans person experiences. There are trans people who will never experience any of this hate and others will only experience the hate and none of the good parts.
