The belief is that overall lawful death penalty will reduce criminal activity.
Death penalty is what majority of people want and feel is justified. Feel as though if you take someone's right to life then they should be able to disregard the rules for the life of the murderer. This is all determined by the jury and the judge on the case. Judges normally give life sentences to prisoners unless the killings is really evil than the murderers usually end up facing the death penalty. This all depends on which state the crime takes place in because there is only 31 states that have laws for it, and enforce them. The death penalty was made and used in place to help deter major crimes like murder and treason against the government and the people.

Treason is very rare and there has been less than 30 cases found in the United States. Majority of the people killed and sentenced to death was a result of them taking someone else's life. Treason is when you give secrets against your country and get caught.
Some people feel as though that the death penalty is wrong and unjust and violates the right for people to live. However during wars we often disregard the rights of our enemies in order to fight for and protect our own rights. Murders take the rights of others to live. When people can no longer protect their own rights that is where law steps in. States without death penalty have consistently had a lower murder rate which some would like to point at no death penalty being the cause of this and is most likely to be consistent just as likely to have it within the states and higher murder rates would lead to death penalty being a solution and lower murder rates would make the death penalty not as likely for the death penalty to be legalized. Murder rates of states before penalty and after (input). Also connecticut murder rates have increased from the year of 2011. Almost all states murder rates rose in states as soon as they took away the death penalty shown by:
he death penalty serves the right justice for capital murder. Many people think that the death penalty does not serve any justice, but it takes away the number of cold murderers on the street. Life in prison may do justice on some occasions, but if a person kills another person, then that person deserves the death penalty.
The death penalty is the only suitable punishment for murderers. The death penalty insures that criminals know that if they kill they will be killed, and they are going to receive a harsh punishment. Also it could be cheaper than sentencing a prisoner to life in prison. People feel that the death penalty is too harsh of a punishment. Which that would be a harsh punishment but they took another human's life. So they need to have a harsh punishment so people know they can not get away with murder. The death penalty insures that a murderer won’t kill again.
States that have the death penalty want to incite fear in criminals by sentencing that person to death, so that will scare other criminals, and future criminals to stop committing crimes. According to an article by Jeffery young that crimes is still up, and never going down; that means no matter what the crime is people still committing crimes, and the crime rates is not decreasing, but is increasing and crime is still happening at this point. States that have the death penalty want to say that executing criminals will keep the community safe, but Aaron Taylor states in an article that the community is not safe when criminal is still being set free;
With the idea of utilitarianism, the greater good for the greatest number of people is your best option always. If you must kill a killer to save potentially multiple other humans, then it is your best option. Imprisonment and rehabilitation both have room for error. With the death penalty, it is certain that killer will never murder again. This relieves the society from a specific threat, and gives the suffering families closure.
Supporters of the death penalty believe it is the best justice for murder. Proponents argue that capital punishment “fits the most severe crime that can be committed”: murder (http://listverse.com).
According to The death penalty information center they say “since society has the highest interest in preventing murder, it should use the strongest punishment available to deter murder”, the death of another person should not be taken lightly it should be a strong punishable crime. If the death penalty was the right away punishment for murder people would stop killing each other and then nobody would have to worry about getting murdered.
The purpose of punishment is to keep an incident from reoccurring. While punishment doesn’t keep it from happening again, it helps. Execution and the death penalty have been used in most societies since the beginning of history. Penalties back then included boiling to death, flaying, slow slicing, crucification, impalement, crushing, stoning, decapitation, etc. The death penalty was used for reasons today that would go under cruel and unusual punishment. Today in the United States, execution is used mainly for murder, espionage, and treason. In some states in the US, death by firing squad is still used. (“Criminal Justice: Capital Punishment Focus”). 35 states, the U.S military, and the U.S government today use lethal injection as the main method of execution. (“Methods of Execution”) I believe that the death penalty is not the right way to punish people who have been convicted of murder. Topics that show that capital punishment is wrong are: people see the death penalty as eye for an eye. This means that we’re going to do onto you what you did to others and to get revenge. Other topics are how the system fails and its flaws, also the cost of the death penalty.
The death penalty, also known as capital punishment is a legal procedure in which a state executes a person for crimes he/she has committed. This punishment has been implemented by many states, and is normally used for atrocious crimes, especially murder. It is also used on crimes against the state such as treason, crimes against humanity, espionage, and violent crimes while other states use it as part of military justice. There are mixed reactions on capital punishment depending on one’s faith, and the state they come from. In my view, I am not in favor of death penalty, as I strongly believe that, death penalty is unacceptable and an inhumane practice for it denies one the right to live. Death penalty does not deter crime, it is an act
In the beginning of independent America, all or most of the states used the death penalty. But, as time went on, many states abolished the death penalty. The primary crimes the death penalty was used for in all states were murder and treason. Although every state had this aspect of the death penalty in common, the specifics of the criteria needed to get the death penalty differed from state to state. Many at this time used the death penalty because they thought that it would be an effective deterrent from criminal actions.
The death penalty is not supported by any records that legitimately prove claims of lowering crime rates; particularly homicides. In fact research says: “States that have death penalty laws do not have better crime rates or murder rates than states without such laws.” (Top 1 of 4). “And states that have abolished capital punishment show no significant changes in either crime or murder rates.” (Top 1 of 4). In short there is no evidence of the death penalty or the laws that establish it lowering crime rates. From its beginnings, the death penalty was established to scare people out of committing certain crimes. People who were given
The death penalty is an issue that began back from the 18th century in Europe. The Europeans brought it to America, and America continued the system for years, because they didn’t know how else to punish the wrongdoers. These executions were held in public areas for everyone to see. It wasn’t till 1846 that a state, Michigan, decided to abolish the death penalty for all crimes, except treason. Seeing Michigan as an example about three other states stopped the death penalty and also some countries in the Caribbean and South America, but it still was not considered an issue until the 1972 Supreme Court case of Furman v Georgia that we see a major shift in the death penalty.
I believe that the death penalty serves justice to people around the United State of America. The death penalty is a very harsh, and cruel punishment. In some cases though, it is necessary for that punishment. They have different methods of death penalties in different states. The most common method is lethal injection. Hearing the word death puts a feeling of fear into the criminal being sentenced. I believe that makes other people not want to commit crimes as much. The death penalty is the worst thing you could ever be sentenced.
Currently, only (58) countries globally practice death sentence(Lee 2013). Several efforts have been made to end type of punishment but it is still practiced, here in new York state for example suspended executions of condemned inmates since 1984 and then finally abolished it in 2007(deathpenaltyinfo.org, 2017). Death Penalty can be meted out in different forms, some states that still practice it today do so through different forms; like Lethal injection,firing squad, hanging with a noose and the electric chair. As stated earlier this is handed to people considered to have committed serious criminal offences. Crimes that are punished with the death penalty vary worldwide from treason and murder to theft. In most militaries around the world, courts-martial have sentenced most military personnels to death for crimes like coup d’etat, mutiny and desertion (Ihundu, 2004, pg.12). In Nigeria, Major Orkar and 41 other soldiers who plotted a coup against the Military Head-of State General Ibrahim Babangida were convicted of treason and executed by firing squad on July 27 1990 (Ihundu, 2004, pg.15).
Death penalty is unacceptable. It is also a shortcut punishment on the end of the offender. It is just a way to satiate the need for revenge of the family of the victim(s), but in all aspects, it does not value life. And if people will start to think in such a way, the sense of morality of people will dissipate until they would not have any sense of respect to any living thing. By the time that people get used to this, they will regard killing as something normal already. In that way, life becomes nothing and people are expendables.
I agree with the death penalty because it would be nice to have because it would be great for people who did bad things to people and they don’t get punished for what they did after we got rid of the death penalty. Now they just have a life sentence and they just slowly rot away and they could also get out on good behavior or testify against their life sentence in court and get out on good behavior with parole. They could go out of jail stay clean for a while then committee another crime then they should get the t death penalty or life sentence no parole so the they can't testify in the court of law. It would be nice to have it because if someone kills a person or multiple because they shouldn’t just be in jail getting bigger, stronger, etc. they should just keep getting closer to the chamber where they die and just have that on there conisin why did i kill that that person when they are getting closer to the camber. I also think they should not have the death penalty because if you didn’t do it you should be able to testify as much as they would like to testify. If they know they didn’t the should demand tho testify and demand them to keep on looking for clues. The death penalty gives closure to the victim's families who have suffered so much. Some family members of crime victims may take years or decades to recover from the shock and loss of a loved one. Some may never recover. One of the things that helps hasten this recovery is to achieve some kind of closure. Life in
