I decided to do my presentation on biomes but not just any biome, I decided on the Tropical Rainforest. The tropical rainforest biome is an ecosystem that covers 6 percent of the earth. They are found all over the earth but the majority lie in South America. Tropical rainforests are defined by their hot and wet climate. The average temperature in this area is around 75 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit. These areas often get up to 12 hours of sunlight due to being located on the Earths equator. Obviously, since it’s called a rainforest, it gets a lot of rain. Most rainforests get up to 100 inches of rain annually. Because of this warm, wet climate, the rainforest is an ideal habitat for a wide range fauna and flora. Some examples of the fauna that live
In dystopian literature, there are many universal storytelling elements and literary devices that builds onto the theme. This is apparent in Charlie Brooker’s TV show Black Mirror’s Nosedive, where your social media score determines your life. You’re rated out of 5 stars, the higher the rating you have the more successful you are. The lower your rating the less unsuccessful you are. Black Mirror uses universal storytelling elements such as social cohesion. Black Mirror also uses literary devices such as verbal irony, symbolism, and parable.
My biome is Temperate Rainforest, the animal I will be talking about is a grizzly bear and my plant is a tree. The Grizzly bear is the key member to the Temperate Rainforest. With the Grizzly strong jaw he/she can take down any sort of prey. Throughout the winter Grizzly bears hibernate and conserve there energy. During spring time the Grizzly bears thick claws help them swipe at fish. When new cubs are welcome to the Temperate Rainforest they have to stay with their mom for 2-3 years, only to make sure they can survive on their own. This means after the cubs turn three their parents leave them to be alone in the world. Grizzly bears are omnivores they can eat seeds, berries, roots, and deer. Male grizzly bears can grow about up to 6.5-8
Did you know that the rainforest is a fantastic biome? It has three parts that make it special. The forest is also home to more plant life than any other. It’s pretty big. Rainforests have a climate and appearance, producers, and consumers specific to the ecosystem.
In the forests of Argentina where the trees stand tall and the soil is moist and fertile, live a variety of dwelling species who are extremely adaptive to the moderate and constant environment. The temperate deciduous forest has a great beauty and countless wonders that make it stand out from many other biomes. With its indifferent temperature and substantial habitats, many animals, like the crab-eating fox, are able to inhabit the environment with the use of many essential adaptations. The very fertile and rich-nutrients soil allow many magnificent vegetation to thrive and succeed. With temperate meaning “not to extreme” or “in moderation” and deciduous meaning “to fall off,” there would
Brazil is the 5th largest country in the World, and home to an almost uncountable number of species, where hundreds of new species are discovered every year. The biodiversity in Brazil is divided between six main biomes, and its marine and coastal zones: Amazon biome, Pantanal biome, Cerrado biome (Savanna), Caatinga biome (Tropical Scrub Forest), Atlantic Forest biome, and the Pampa biome. 20% of the Earth’s biodiversity is estimated to be found in Brazil. Furthermore, it is well known that all brazilian biomes have been struggling with human activities, the pressures. Human pressures have been driving a high number of species towards nearly extinction in Brazil; some are believed to be extinct even before they have been studied by formal
Rainforest plants have made many adaptations to their environment. With over 80 inches of rain per year, plants have made adaptations that helps them shed water off their leaves quickly so the branches don't get weighed down and break. Many plants have drip tips and grooved leaves, and some leaves have oily coatings to shed water. To absorb as much sunlight as possible on the dark understory, leaves are very large. Some trees have leaf stalks that turn with the movement of the sun so they always absorb the maximum amount of light. Leaves in the upper canopy are dark green, small and leathery to reduce water loss in the strong sunlight. Some trees will grow large leaves at the lower canopy level and small leaves in the upper canopy. Other plants
The ocean is one of, if not, the largest biome on earth. There are more than one million species of marine life. Covering over 70 percent of the Earth’s surface, the ocean is our planet’s largest habitat, containing 99 percent of the living space on the planet. This area holds the life of nearly 50 percent of all species on Earth. Like lakes, oceans are subdivided into separate zones: intertidal, pelagic, abyssal, and benthic. All four zones have a great diversity of species. The intertidal zone is the region along the shoreline between average low tide and average high tide. In other words, this region goes through cycles of submergence and exposure to air. Animals in this zone must be able to survive the extended periods
The biome ecosystem of the rainforest is a wonderful place, full of animals, color, and life. It has the largest diversity of living organism and plants on earth, with rich biodiversity. The Rainforest supports about 50% of the plants and animal living on earth. The rainforest is located in a tropical region. This allows them to receives lots of sunlight, giving plants the energy they need and a wide variety of food for the organisms. The rainforest provides an abundance of sources of shelter, food, and hiding places for animals to grow and develop. The rainforest not only provides life for plants and animals but is also provides life to human beings like us. The rainforest plays many roles in our life. Which includes absorbing the carbon dioxide, and producing
The biome I chose was the tropical rain forest. The tropical rain forest has lots of dangerous and interesting animals. The tropical rain forest has a 70-85F weather all year long. The climate is warm but damp and wet. Tropical rain forests can be found between 30N- 30S. The tropical rain forest is full of life providing a habitat for lots of plants, flowers, and trees. The rain forest has a lot of dangers such as rainfall= 80-400 inches of rainfall per year. The tropical rain forest is a great place that is filled with life and is one of the most beautiful biomes in the world.
To begin, climate plays a major role in the creation and maintenance of soil. Firstly, wind can blow soil to a different area. In the 1930s, there was a drought in the prairies and topsoil blew away. The soil was dry and all the vegetation died, so it was light and the wind blew the topsoil away, exposing the subsoil. This greatly reduced the amount of topsoil in the prairies. Secondly, rain supports growth of plants, creating more humus from plant decay. In the west coast forest vegetation region, there is a lot of precipitation, which supports plant growth. The large amounts of precipitation in the west coast of canada supports the plant growth. After the plants grow, they eventually die and decay, turning into humus. This fertilizes the
Tropical rainforest-Tropical rainforests balance the world’s climate. They help to balance climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide. The tropical rainforest is very wet with 200-1000 cm of rain per year. With this much rain the humidity is rather high - 77%-88%. The temperature is 21-30 degrees celsius. All this makes the tropical rainforest a very lush and beautiful.
Vegetation has an extensive impact on the productivity of food, industrial materials and fibres in the rainforest biome. Vegetation found in the rainforest biome is dense and nutrient-rich, especially in the canopy layer. Rainforest flora have adapted to the rainforest's conditions. Luxuriant growth signals high productivity as more can be produced. Nutrients are found in plants rather than soil, which causes accelerated growth, resulting in rapid and increased productivity of food, industrial materials and fibres.
Like the tropical rainforest, the temperate rainforest is split up into layers. The topmost layer is called the canopy, which is dominated by tall evergreen conifers (trees that produce cones with seeds). Due to the heavy rain and mild temperatures, these conifers enjoy maximum year round growth and reach record heights and girth. Some examples would be the Costal Redwood (300 feet), the Douglas Fir (up to 280 feet), the Sitka Spruce (230 feet), the Western Red Cedar (200 feet), and the Western Hemlock (130 feet). Beneath the canopy is the understory. In this layer are found the dogwood with its’ beautiful pink and white flowers, and vine maples. Ferns, salal, and berry shrubs grow in the filtered sunlight beneath the small trees. On the forest
The Death penalty can be a touchy subject for many people. Capital punishment or the death penalty, is a government sanctioned practice whereby a person is put to death by the state as a punishment for a crime. There are a variety of issues that come with the death penalty like cost and whether or not it is humane. As of recent the Florida Supreme Court declared the death penalty unconstitutional.
The notion of sexual violence towards women is a normalize dynamic with treatment that is based on women reporting the act and the criminal justice system doing its part however, this completely erases the idea of sexual violence victims having further trauma with the invasive investigating proceedings. Sexual violence is seen as an individualized crime, with the survivor’s body being the main evidence in the crime at hand thus the criminal justice system positions the bodies as if they are materials. This neglecting of the survivors, and placing importance on the violated body makes it hard for women to report these acts committed against them. The act of sexual violence can be a traumatic event and the examination of the body can further increase the survivor’s feelings of being isolated and loathed. In England and Wales, there is a considerable need for an effective policy to ensure alternative prevention methods for the safety of the violated bodies in the criminal justice system. The prevention of sexual violence against women will not only make it easier for the police to investigate, but women will not be going through a “second rape” with officers and professionals in the criminal justice system. Also by having reforms of criminal justice proceedings will be a necessary step in providing survivors with the reassurance that the
