When trying to lose weight, it is important to keep track of what you are eating. It is perfectly healthy to lose 1-2 pound a week. To lose 1 pound a week, you need to decrease your caloric intake by 500 calories a day. If you currently eat 2000 calories a day, cutting out 500 can be a lot (that is a quarter of what you eat!). So to make this easier, add exercise! If you burn 250 additional calories a day by exercise, then you can reduce your caloric intake by only 250 calories, (which is now only 1/8 of what you eat a day, which is much less daunting). And this can be spread out throughout the day. For example, even just going for a brisk walk in the morning and in the evening will make a difference. Climbing the stairs instead of using the elevator, and walking instead of driving to places that are within walking distance can make a really big difference when done consistently.…show more content…
One of the biggest motivators to exercise is to have a friend to do it with. It is much harder to skip going to the gym when you've already promised a friend that you'd meet them there. Also, to keep doing exercise consistently, it is so important to find something that you enjoy doing. And that is not impossible! Swimming is such good exercise, and it's fun! Go swimming with a friend a couple of times a week, and you won't even feel like you're exercising. Or, if you are very motivated, join a class that coaches running, and train for a 5K marathon!
