From even before my first injection until now I have had trypanophobia. Trypanophobia is the fear of injections and hypodermic needles, I honestly don’t know why I’m terrified of them but it is how it is. I picked up my fear of hypodermic needles from my dad, even though he and I have different reactions. When he’s about to get a shot he starts sweating and freezes, I on the other hand start shaking and start talking loud and fast. Last time I got a shot I ended up jumping out of my seat and speaking gibberish, until the doctor put my arm in a strap so I couldn't move. I also have monophobia. Monophobia is the fear of being completely alone, I can’t imagine a world where I’m the only living thing. It would be so creepy and dark, I just can’t
Introduction: Almost everyone has an irrational fear or two—of mice, for example, or your annual dental checkup. For most people, these fears are minor. But when fears become so severe that they cause tremendous anxiety and interfere with your normal life, they’re called phobias. A phobia is an intense fear of something that, in reality, poses little or no actual danger. Common phobias and fears include closed-in places, heights, highway driving, flying insects, snakes, and needles. However, we can develop phobias of virtually anything. Most phobias develop in childhood, but they can also develop in adults. If you
CM Gilmore made an announced visit to the residence of Qu’Carla Gibson(BMo). Present at the home is Bmo Qu’Carla and VC Malik. CM explained the reason for the visit. Qu’Carla reported the following after she was aware of the allegations listed in the report:
Visualize driving to the doctor’s office. You have a yearly check-up today, which you don’t mind at all. However, it’s that time of year again. You know that you’ll be getting the flu shot, as well. Your heart is pounding, you can’t control how sweaty you are, and you’re shaking hard enough to impair your driving. This isn’t just a simple fear; it’s debilitating beyond belief, and you can’t stop the imminent feeling of danger and doom. The thought of the needle going into your arm sends you into a state of intense fear that you can’t avoid. If you’ve ever experienced something similar to this, you may have aichmophobia, which is phobia that is based upon the fear of needles or sharp objects (Aichmophobia, n.d.).
Pamela Kulbarsh (2014) once wrote in her article titled Phobic Disorders: What Do You Fear? that “to be defined as a phobia, the fear must cause some level of physical or psychological impairment. […] Phobia is a fear gone awry. A phobia twists the normal fear response into something that is difficult, if not, impossible to control.” There are many different types of phobias; however, there are four ways in which a phobia can be categorized. The four different categories that a fear can be classified are as follows: animal, environment, situational, and injection/injury. A phobia involving an animal means a person has an intense fear of any particular animal whether it be a dog or a spider. The next type of phobia is an environmental phobia
The topic of aliens is often a very controversial one to talk about. The aliens in THE FOURTH KIND represent many fears that we have has as humans such as the fear of feeling inferior. That is why many people don’t like to acknowledge that there could possibly be other intellectual species outside of earth, due to the fear of them feeling inferior to a more advanced life form. If aliens are anything like the human species then we should all be afraid, due to the fact that the human race killed most of the animal species and even kidnapped and enslaved other humans. If extraterrestrials ever came to our planet, their technology and intellect would be far more advanced than ours and that could possibly hurt humanity because they could have the power and technology to enslave us. They also represent how people would be willing to do wicked things like using science and technology for malevolent purposes. The aliens abuse of power in the film reflect how humans could possibly turn out if we obtained their technology. Humans could learn to one-day build rockets and spacecraft’s that can travel to other planets and their main goal would be to use these technologies to benefit ourselves. If we had the power to overtake another planet and inhabit it, we would not hesitate to do so and we are willing to do the unthinkable for power and advancement. Aliens also represent the fear of there being no god or religion because most religious people oppose science and credit god for
Situational type phobias are fears of being in confined spaces (i.e. elevators) or being afraid of heights. An example of being afraid of heights is getting n roller coasters. Natural environment is being fearful of weather storms (i.e. thunder and lightning). Blood injection is a subject type under specific phobia because some individuals fear blood and/or going through medical procedures (i.e. giving blood). Animal type means to be afraid of animals. For instance, 30.5% of the United States society fears spiders (Fear/Phobia Statistics, 2012). Specific phobia can be treated in various ways.
“A phobia is essentially a human being's irrational fear of something. It could be an object, an animal, a situation or an environment. These fears are persistent, intense, excessive and unrealistic, which is primarily why phobias are deemed irrational. A clinically phobic person's reaction to what scares him/her may seem extreme and the fright may not appear to be justified.” (Grenier et al., 2011) A specific phobia is known by a deep and persistent fear of an object or situation which becomes anxiety. The anticipations of the stimulus may make the symptoms arise. Many individuals who suffer with this disease will avoid the stimuli. They will take extra steps and precaution to have no contact. The main characteristics that the DSM-5 describes for this disorder includes “the individual suffering from a persistent fear that is either unreasonable or excessive, caused by the presence or anticipation of a specific object or situation, exposure to the stimulus usually results in an anxiety response, the sufferer recognizes that their fear is disproportionate to the perceived threat or danger, individuals take steps to avoid the object or situation they fear, and the phobic reaction, anticipation or avoidance interferes with the individual’s normal routine and relationships, or causes significant distress. At last, the phobia that the person has to be constant for a period of six months or longer.” (American Psychiatric Association,
The work is a relief casting thats sits flat up against a wall excluding its fourth side from the viewers eye. The viewers eye moves with the curvature of the work first, taking in the wave of the work, then the finer details. Trypophobia overall is made up of hundreds of cramped convex protrusions. Though the work is made of these small protrusions not every one of the protrusions are completely smooth or whole, giving it a more jagged texture when you look at it in extreme detail. The unity of all these protrusions give Trypophobia a sense of uniform, while the waves and jaggedness of some them give it enough contrast to keep it interesting for the viewer to look at.
Background: People are extremely afraid of needles almost 10% of adults and within 1 and 2% was clinical criteria due to harm from blood injection phobia. The life span predominance of certain phobias for people who have autism is close to a third, with unease apprehension towards medical operations which is highly moral amongst this group of people in comparison with both chronological and intellectual of same age peers. People who have a phobia towards a needle, medicinal complications will be worse in the results of never ending nonparticipation in getting blood work done or injections. Individuals who have autism and other mental disabilities who suffer from a needle phobia will try several dangerous ways to resist interacting with a needle
“Fear kills more dreams than failure ever will.” - Anonymous. In the small town of Jordan, Minnesota, a women named Krista lives there. She has emetophobia. When she was younger, in fifth grade she had gotten sick with the torturous stomach bug. At this time, she did not care that she vomited it was just an “oh well” sort of thing. A year passed and the summer of her sixth grade year began. Krista went with her friend Susan, to pick up her siblings from camp. While they were all eating lunch outside at their camp, one of Susan’s siblings began to vomit. Krista began to sweat all over, she had racing thoughts about her becoming sick, or getting puked on by one of Susan's siblings. Her thoughts were racing and she was panicking big time. When they all started walking back to the car to head home, Susan’s other sibling began to vomit. Now Krista is beyond the panic stage and onto the part where she starts to cry and cry because of how scared she is about getting sick. At that moment she realized she had a fear of throwing up. Emetophobia is a common fear which affects people’s daily life.
The ocean is the most amazing and mysterious places in the world, with hundreds of new species being discovered every year, in a place that takes about 70% of the earth's surface. This always gets people thinking, “What else is out there?”. Thalassophobia is the fear of the ocean, a fear that many people in the world suffer from. There is no clear number of people who suffer from thalassophobia, but there are many online groups dedicated to the phobia, with one of those having about 80,000 members.

There has been some research done on the fear of heights. Psychologists by the name of Gibson and Walk did an experiment in 1960 called “Visual Cliff”. The “Visual Cliff” experiment was an experiment to see if babies who were still crawling would cross a thick piece of glass that covered a steep drop off. They then put the mother on the other side of the drop off to call the baby over to the other side. Even with the mother calling the crawling babies to come to them, the babies still did not cross over the glass. This experiment shows that most humans if not all humans have acrophobia at least partially ingrained in our genetics. I believe this is part of our survival instincts.
However, phobia can even cause people to risk their health. For example, the fear of dentists can leave people suffering from it willing to risk the health of their teeth in order to avoid having to go through an exam or procedure ( MacKay). When one knows about an upcoming confrontation, it can be the reason why one can not sleep or finds it hard to focus on important tasks. Due the change in daily routine, this unrealistic fear can interfere with the ability to socialize, work, or go about everyday life, brought on by and object, event or situation. But even animals have anxieties and phobias just as every human being (www.phobia-help.de). A phobia is an irrational fear, one knows that the object or situation, one is scared off, can not hurt one, but one is still afraid. A reason for this is that the human mind can not distinguish what is real and imaginary. When one has uncontrollable anxiety attacks, he loses rational judgement, leading to complicated problems. However, anyone can develop a phobia, men and women, teens and young adults, and elderly lady or a one-year-old boy (MacKay).
