April 5th, 2017 On the September 7th, 1996 a famous rapper of Death Row Records, named Tupac Shakur was killed after attending a Mike Tyson boxing match at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. After the match, hotel surveillance video captured Tupac Shakur and entourage attacking Orlando Anderson in the MGM Grand lobby. Anderson was a member of the South side Crips who had robbed a member of Death Row Records earlier that year. Following the assault on Anderson, shots were fired into the vehicle Tupac and Death Row Records CEO Suge Knight were traveling in while sitting at a stoplight a block away from the crowded Las Vegas Strip. A white Cadillac pulled up to the right side of Knight’s BMW and fired multiple rounds into the vehicle. Tupac Shakur was hit in the chest, pelvis and his right hand

Suge Knight was hit once. emergency vehicles rushed Tupac to the hospital, where he had several surgeries but after spending 6 days in a coma, doctors pronounced Tupac Shakur dead at the University Medical Center in Las Vegas. The obvious suspect in the case was Orlando Anderson, the man Tupac Shakur had beaten on camera the night the fatal shooting took place. Anderson was still being questioned by police when the murders took place about the previous incident, so he was cleared as a suspect in this crime. Police claim they were unable to get any information from bystanders. Despite the packed streets and the several eyewitnesses, police never found the car or any of the men in it. There are no suspects. There were few clues. The case went cold. Police blame the unsuccessful investigation on lack of cooperation by witnesses. Some

Shakur’s legal troubles continued in 1994 when he punched out Menace II Society co director Allen Hughes and served a fifteen-day sentence for his actions. The sexual charge came back to haunt Shakur in 1994 and he was convicted and sentenced to four and a half years in prison. The same day that Tupac was convicted, he was shot five times and robbed of his jewelry in a mugging Tupac claimed that the Notorious B.I.G., rapper that Tupac argued with over the past couple of years was responsible for hiring those who shot him. This intensified the East Coast – West Coast feud (Venable 98-99).
Media and NY Times attributed the ringleader and creation of this phantom hate group to Malcolm X. Formally Malcolm X stated, “I considered all Negroes my ‘Blood Brothers,’ and that Negroes are banning together!” He said in one of his speeches, “That Harlem is living in a police state?” and was asked, {“Mr. Malcolm you have suggested that they are all kinds of movements in Harlem growing that you and I don’t know about?”} Malcolm replied “Oh yes, frustration itself was sufficient and all that was necessary to make Negros realize the importance of banning together-and Negros are banning together.”{“Banning together in what kind of movement?”} (Malcolm continuing) “Different kinds of movements-all kinds of movements, and they remain almost invisible they remain almost unknown-but yet they are there.” “When I say invisible I mean invisible in the since that their existence are unknown.” “And no matter how much you try to track them down-you can’t find them. And never try to find them through the Negro leaders.” “The Negro leaders are famous as an apologist.” “As you recall one of the most famous Negro leaders in 1959 was asked by you about the Black Muslim movement, and he said he knew nothing about it, and the next moment you flashed a picture on the screen with him shaking hands with me (Referring to Roy Wilkins).”-“So this is their
Shakur's post-celebrity run-ins with the law were almost as frequent as when he was growing up. In 1992 he was arrested when a stray bullet killed a 6 year old child during a scuffle between Shakur and two others, though later charges against Shakur were dropped. In 1993 Tupac was arrested for allegedly shooting 2 off-duty Butts County Atlanta police officers who were harassing a black motorist, but the charges were again dropped. Ironically, one of the Butts County officers was shot in the ass, and in 1998 Deputy Scott Whitwell won a $210,000 lawsuit for the incident. Then, that same year, Tupac was accused of sexual abuse against a 19 year old woman in a New York City luxury hotel. Shakur's legal troubles continued in 1994 when he punched out Menace II Society codirector Allen Hughes and served a 15 day jail sentence for his actions. The sexual charge came to haunt Shakur in that 1994 as he was convicted and sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison, and to add insult to injury, Shakur was shot 5 times and robbed of his jewelry the same day, a mugging that Shakur later claimed came from the Notorious B.I.G. was responsible for hiring those who shot

On Tuesday July 6, 2016 at approximately 12:15 a.m. 37 year old Alton Sterling was shot and killed by two police officers responding to a disturbance call. The altercation between Mr. Sterling and the two officers occurred at the Triple S Food Mart in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The two officers involved in the shooting have been identified as 28 year old Blane Salamoni, and 28 year old Howie Lake II. Both officers used physical force to bring Mr. Sterling to the ground, but it is unclear through the video which officer used their gun to shoot Mr. Sterling or if both officers shot him.
Several shots were fired at Malcolm X and, “bullets of two different calibers as well as shotgun pellets had been removed from his body,” (Kihss) during the autopsy which gave police the conclusion that there had been multiple individuals trying to shoot Malcolm X. Others who were spectators in the crowd were also injured in the shooting to cause the crowd to panic so that there would be a diversion and the shooters could get away. Hagan being one of the shooters was the only man spotted by police as he fired his gun at Malcolm and was found with the same kind of ammunition in his pocket that was shot into the now dead Malcolm X, incriminating Hagan. Muhammad Abdul Aziz and Kahlil Islam were also arrested then later freed when Hagan admitted to the shooting and incriminated two others who he had known were involved in the murder, clearing the names of the two falsely imprisoned
Tupac Shakur (also known as Lesane Parish Crooks) was born June 16, 1971 in New York city. (Steffens 1328) Tupac's mother, Afeni Shakur, was a member of the Black Panther Activist. She was acquitted of bombing charges and released from jail a month before her son was born. (Gale ⅓) Shakur didn’t know his father, he wasn’t in his life at all. Shakur also has a sister Sekyiwa Shakur. In 1984 Shakur and his family moved to Baltimore where Shakur attended the Baltimore School of the Arts as a teenager. While Shakur was in Baltimore he developed skills in writing and acting. Before Shakur even graduated he and his family moved to Marin County, California. When the family moved to California Tupac got involved with drugs and getting into other trouble.
Unlike most people Malcolm’s life started off extremely rough and ended with bang. Growing up life was hard for him with his family not being for him. Which later became ok since he was then later visited by his siblings which lead to his great spiritual change. Ultimately he then had another change of heart as far his spiritual side which then abruptly ended his life.
The shooter to this day remains unidentified, but suspicions and accusations are still stirring in current time. Suge Knight claims to know who gunned Tupac down, repeatedly telling the media that it was his ex-wife and her husband trying to shoot Suge but missed and hit Tupac. None of this could be proven though, there are also rumors saying that a Las Vegas police officer was paid millions of dollars to keep quiet, and another conspiracy is that he is alive and well and living in Mexico. According to research and factual evidence all those accusations are false, and Tupac is deceased. After Tupac’s death his mother retreated to the family home in Stone mountain Georgia and had to go through a lot of paper work to establish herself as the administrator of all his belongings.
Shakur was on his way home from a boxing match when a white Cadillac approached his vehicle firing 14 shots, and 1 puncturing his lung. The action is still yet to be solved 20 years later but the mystery will always remain. The shooting was known to be done by a “ Crip “ gang member though. While many believe multiple theories the case still remains unsolved.
What i truly believe was the cause of Tupacs death was gang violence with a rival gang member named Orlando Anderson. Tupac and Suge attended a boxing match that same night and they got in altercation with the rival gang member Orlando Anderson. This altercation happened because of the not so long before robbery of Death Records. After the fight Tupacs bodyguard watch Orlando Anderson incase he was to try something but instead he caught him talking on the phone. The bodyguard later say “what would you do if you got beat up, you would call your buddys to get some revenge.”
In an article from the Independent, author Christopher Hooton states that "hip-hip is the most listened to genre in the world (independent.co.uk). Hip Hop has become an everyday essential for many young people today. Many of the hip-hop artists, such 21 Savage and Migos, make references towards gangs by incorporating their story into song. Snoop Dogg, for example, who was involved in a gang, talked about his childhood and his struggles of being in a gang. Personally, I believe that artists who relate to real things in their music are the artist who make the best music.
Hip-hop has been around for several years and is still popular today. It has developed into both a cultural movement as well as a musical genre. Hip- hop is comprised of rap, graffiti, breakdancing, rapping and beatboxing (Soeparno 1). It has emerged from something so small into something so important in our lives that we need to understand how hip-hop began by recognizing the artists who started it all as well as how the style has changed to what it is today.
