“I don't have no fear of death. My only fear is coming back reincarnated” (BrainyQuote). Powerful words spoken from a young talented African-American named Tupac Shakur, who was raised by Afeni Shakur. Afeni Shakur, former Black Panther member she spent her life implementing black power and radical politics to her only son. Afeni unfortunately died on May 2nd, 2016 from an unexpected heart attack. Tupac Shakur was born on June 6th 1971 in New York City. He grew up taking acting and dance classes in Baltimore School for the Arts. While living in Baltimore, he discovered rap and began performing as MC New York (Biography). Shakur had a tough time growing up in New York. Him and his family moved to Martin County, California. Jackson and Queen Latifah (Biography). He also starred in many other movies such as “Gang Related”, “Gridlock’d”, “Bullet”, “Murder Was the Case”, “Above the Rim”, “Poetic Justice” and “Nothing but the First”. His fame exponentially grew, but it also came with a price. The police was aggravated at the fact that his songs promote anti-police, pro-black and utter violence. On October 1191, Shakur filed $10 million civil suit against the Oakland Police Department, alleging that the police brutally beat him for jaywalking. He received about $43,000 in settlement money. In November 1993, Shakur and others were charged with sexually assaulting a woman in a hotel room (Wiki). Tupac obviously denied the allegations. Shakur was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse, and acquitted of the weapons and sodomy charges Wiki). On October 1995, Shakur’s case was on appeal but because he wasn’t able to pay the $1.4 million bail. He was accused of Tupac was reportedly released after Death Row Records CEO Marion “Suge” Knight paid more than $1 million for his parole. In exchange, 2Pac released three albums under the Death Row
copies, and I want that so badly, but I can't do that. I would be wrong to do that, knowing what I know and having the brain that I have, for me to even go and write some simple *censored* would be wrong even though I would get paid and I would get more people's money." (Patrick, Tony, n.p.) This means that Tupac has a strong will and values. He resisted the temptation to write some easy rhyming words and get peoples money. He instead followed his values and worked
The book I chose to read is Tupac Shakur:The Life & Times of an American Icon. This book hasn’t been out for very long. It’s publication date was January 26, 2010 so it is a somewhat newer book. Fred and Tayannah examined very closely and did a great deal of research to write this book. They had to examine all the theories and myths about Tupac Shakur. So i’m guessing you can imagine how hard they worked to write & publish this biography.
When pertaining to thought of the hip-hop production and history, Tupac Shakur is one of the first names that pops to mind. Shakur was born in the Bronx on June 16, 1971 in Brooklyn New York, and died on September 13, 1996 in Las Vegas Nevada just at the age of 25! His mother, Afeni Shakur was an active revolutionary of the Black Panther Party. She became pregnant with her son in 1970 while on bail after being accused of plotting to start an ethnicity war, Mrs. Shakur was absolved the year after strongly protecting herself in court, demonstrating a talent for speech which her son later comes to acquire. Tupac had a sister that was 2 years apart from him her name was Sekiya Shakur. William “Billy” Garland was the biological father of Tupac Shakur. Even though he was his father in blood he wasn’t actually a father figure he did very little to care for Tupac, only seeing him hardly any times up until Tupac reached the age of 5, Afeni and Tupac lost all contact with Garland. Shakur had a father figure known by the name of Mutulu Shakur, his stepfather. Mutulu Shakur was a former and active Black Liberation party member and condemned criminal,

He is considered to be one of the most influential people of his time, influencing every African-American citizen in North America. Thought of as the creator of rap, Tupac has sold over seventy-five million albums worldwide although his career ended as quickly as it started. Six, is the number of years Tupac spent making rap professionally. Thirteen is the number of years Tupac spent writing poetry and rap lyrics. Twenty-five is how old Tupac was when he received four bullets to his chest causing him to pass away. In those twenty-five years, Tupac has influenced millions of people and artists
Tupac Amaru Shakur was a very influential person who overcame many difficulties. Tupac was a rapper of truth that spoke about the things that go on in the “Hood” and the unjust police. He was treated differently because he was black and was even arrested for jaywalking. After he was arrested he was beaten by the cops who wanted him to “learn his place”(Joseph 29). This shows how bad Tupac had it because he was African American. Tupac died an early death at 25 because of a brewing rivalry between the East and West Coast rappers. Shakur was a person who would stand up for what he believed in no matter the cost and died fighting for that. He never let anyone win a battle that he was determined to win and always knew what he was fighting for. His mother was the same, as a loyal member of the Black Panther Party, a group that protected all African Americans from police brutality. Tupac was literally born to be a fighter and carried on his mother's legacy. Despite his rough life, Tupac Shakur became one of the most influential rappers of all time.
Everyone knows a guy by the name of Tupac Shakur, but how do people know Mr. Shakur? Maybe it is by the hardcore gangster and obscene rap lyrics directed towards people, more so aimed towards his east coast rivals. As years went on, more and more people viewed a handful of Tupac’s music as a true work of art, containing strong messages along with stories from his troubled childhood and young adulthood. Later on in both Tupac’s life and career, he began to realize the demise of the African American culture as a whole. During his last stint in prison, not only did he realized all of this wrongdoing throughout this life, but also the negative influence rap and hip hop had over the young African American community. What happened during his incarnation,
Tupac is just one of the many artists that talked about social justice issues. He along with many others gave a voice to people that were scared whilst expressing themselves. Even though Tupac did not have the best life he still found a way to express himself through music. Social justice issues are something that we can left untouched that is why artists talk about them throughout
Shakur’s legal troubles continued in 1994 when he punched out Menace II Society co director Allen Hughes and served a fifteen-day sentence for his actions. The sexual charge came back to haunt Shakur in 1994 and he was convicted and sentenced to four and a half years in prison. The same day that Tupac was convicted, he was shot five times and robbed of his jewelry in a mugging Tupac claimed that the Notorious B.I.G., rapper that Tupac argued with over the past couple of years was responsible for hiring those who shot him. This intensified the East Coast – West Coast feud (Venable 98-99).
He selected his alias to be Makaveli, though spelled differently, is a pseudonym for the 16th century Italian philosopher Nicolo Machiavelli. Machiavelli wrote a book titled The Prince, in which the main character fakes his death in order to fool his enemies. 2Pac studied Machiaveli in depth while in prison, was a fan, and had read his books several times. Perhaps Tupac was taking his advice? He certainly has enemies on the East coast, most of who are connected to Bad Boy Entertainment, a rival of Death Row. In 1994, 2Pac was shot five times in New York City while he was on his way to the studio, and he claimed that Bad Boy had something to do with the failed hit. In any case, his name change became fully complete on his posthumous album, where he states in the booklet, "Exit: 2Pac, Enter: Makaveli." An eerie three-fingered handprint also appears on the inside of the Makaveli booklet. Tupac had two of his fingers shot off during the September 7th shooting. Is it coincidence? It is strange that an autopsy was never performed on the body (since when don't you autopsy a murder victim?), and 2Pac's family reportedly cremated his body the day after he died. No one outside of the family has seen Tupac's dead body, other than the doctors, who could have easily been paid off with Tupac's riches. These actions, both before and after the shooting, are strange and point to the fact that Tupac Amaru Shakur is still alive.
Even after the rap battles between the feuding rappers, Puffy and Biggie said they did not have any involvement in the crime, but Tupac believed that the conflict would eventually claim the lives of both him and Biggie. Tupac Shakur died in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996 while he was in the car with Death Row Records founder, Marion “Suge”
Imagine, walking down the streets of Las Vegas, enjoying your evening with your significant other when suddenly you hear gunshots. A week later, you discover that one of the greatest rappers of all time has been murdered. Contrary to popular conspiracy theories, Tupac is not living in Cuba, but was a victim of gang violence. Lesane Parish Crook otherwise known as Tupac or 2Pac was born on June 16th, 1971. Lesane’s mother, Afeni Shakur, was a Black Panther activist. Still to this day, Tupac’s albums including “All Eyes On Me” are still popular today. Tupac has an estimated 40 million dollar net-worth. On September 7th, 1996 Tupac Shakur and Suge Knight went to a Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas. After the fight, Tupac and Knight headed to Club 662, owned by Suge Knight. Around 11 pm, a white Cadillac pulled up next to them at a stoplight.
Tupac Shakurs death was a very tragic lost to the world of music. Now you know who think is responsible for that tragedy. It wasn’t his friends, family, rapper, none of that stuff. No it was because of some conflict with a gang and a man called Orlando
