Question 4 2017
Analyse how one or more important events represented a turning point for a character.
During ‘Macbeth’ written by William Shakespeare, there is one Scene that seriously altered the course of events for the rest of the play. This was when due to masterful manipulation by his wife, and encouraged by the witches prophecy that he will be king, Macbeth made the decision to commit the unholiest of crimes, murder the King. This set the rest of the play into motion, illustrating the fact that ambition, if left unchecked will have dire consequences.
Act one Scene 7 is the point when Macbeth ‘does the deed’ and kills the king while he was sleeping, but it was not without internal struggle. Macbeth has a moment of crisis when he stops,
“You often meet your fate on the road you take to avoid it” (Goldie Hawn). The battle between fate and freewill is very debated upon which is why this quote holds so much meaning. Fate within Shakespeare's Macbeth plays a big role in the plot and developing the characters. Although complex, the dispute between fate and free will is evident within Shakespeare's Macbeth as it utilizes motifs, symbolism, and allusions to portray that fate is the ruler of life and disruption of it could end in a tragedy.
Shakespeare’s play ‘Macbeth’ is about the leading male protagonist succumbing to his ambition and need for power. Though Macbeth is liable for his own actions, he is not solely responsible for the events that eventually result in his downfall. Macbeth is corrupted by his wife, Lady Macbeth, as well as the three weird sisters. Macbeth’s contribution towards his downfall is his strong ambitious nature. Lady Macbeth is the person who induces Macbeth to assassinate King Duncan. The three weird sisters (witches) play with Macbeth’s ambitious nature and sense of security. Macbeth’s downfall is due to himself and two external factors.
The Throne of Blood is a film that attempts to recreate Shakespeare's tragedy "Macbeth." This tale is one of greed, deception, and backstabbing traitors. It is the tale of a man prophesized to be king. Once king, he wants more and tries to get what he wants. However, his `trustworthy' friend stabs the king in the back and eventually dies himself. In the end, all that is left is a bunch of dead guys and a castle without a king; pretty tragic if you ask me.
As a virgin to The Shakespeare Theatre, I was pleasantly surprised when my recent encounter with Macbeth was a stimulating and enjoyable excursion. The two and a half hours I had predicted to be less than enchanting were filled with symbolism, and an overall attitude towards the Shakespeare classic that I had never contemplated before.
<br>Prior to deciding whether or not conflict is central to the dramatic development of MACBETH, one must consider all the dramatic factors that contribute to the Shakespearean play. The gradual decline of the protagonist , the role portrayed by characters and the order in which the events occur, greatly influence the direction in which the development of the play takes place. After reading the text MACBETH, by Shakespeare and viewing the film version, directed by Roman Polanski, it is logical to see that ambition and the deceptive appearances of what really is, is central to the dramatic development of MACBETH.
William Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” remains one of the most famous and frequently discussed plays of all time. Set in Scotland during a time of much political turmoil, the play follows the eponymous antagonist Macbeth, his reign as King of Scotland and the gradual deterioration of his relationships and mental state. This play has several “turning points”, however I believe the moment with the most impact on the remainder of the narrative is Macbeth’s murder of his friend, King Duncan. Prior to the act being carried out, Macbeth has a meeting with three witches.
Macbeth Events King Duncan wins the battle. Macbeth is a Hero. This is important because this is where he starts to get confidence from and the first taste of power and also pride. Macbeth and Banquo meet the witches.
Macbeth’s Fate and Pre Destiny Many people believe in fate or pre destiny. Maybe Shakespeare was one of these people. There are many occurrences of fate in William Shakespeare’s play Macbeth. Macbeth acts on free will instead of fate throughout the entire play. Examples of this are when Macbeth kills Macduff even though the witches tell him he would not be a problem, when he puts his armor on even when Seyton tells him he does not have to, and finally Macbeth killing Duncan and his guards.
How far does Shakespeare present fate as responsible for Macbeth’s downfall? Fate is shown in many different ways in Macbeth and we are introduced to the idea of it from the very beginning of the play, when the sergeant recounts how Macbeth “Disdained fortune” in battle, therefore he was stronger than his fate. Shakespeare presents the idea that going against fate will ultimately lead to terrible things, which is explored throughout the play.
Many of people have heard the tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare. The story revolves on a sequence of misfortunate events that take place when Macbeth makes immoral decisions to be king. In the play, Shakespeare shows how power can cause corruption in a human’s brain. Macbeth himself was not a very confident person, though he had a kind soul to begin with, he was easily influenced and gullible. Through the prophecies of the evil beings, an insignificant seed was planted in Macbeth. That spark of wealth and fortune caused the tyrant within him to awake. Which eventually lead to his fatal death. His ambition lead him to murder, go insane and become very superstitious.
In Shakespeare’s play Macbeth, the fate of the main character Macbeth, is challenged by the influences of the three witches and his wife Lady Macbeth. The prophecies proclaimed by the three witches fueled Macbeth’s desire to become king, similar to how Lady Macbeth used her own selfish thirst for power to push Macbeth to kill. Though Macbeth was the one who carried out the assassination of Duncan, Macbeth was pressured by the prophecies of the three witches and Lady Macbeth’s coercion which ultimately led him to commit the treacherous acts throughout the rest of the play. Previous to meeting the witches Macbeth had no aspiration to be king, but they instilled the idea for Macbeth that he had the possibility to rise to power. Praising Macbeth

At least once in a person’s life, each individual hears “be careful what you wish for.” Be careful because unforeseen consequences may occur. But, what if one lived above everyone else? Unpleasant outcomes would never happen, or so one who believes they exist at this level may assume.
In the book Macbeth by William Shakespeare, the author wrote a story about the main character Macbeth’s transition from a loyal general to a evil tyrant who kills innocent people. I think Macbeth is miserable and pitiful because his transition is mostly caused by other people. At the beginning of the story, three witches appeared. One of them got rejected by a woman when she is asking for some chestnuts.
An incident that changes the course of events in Shakespeare’s Macbeth was when the witches made the prophecy about Macbeth becoming Thane of Cawdor then later king. The witches prophecies are an important change in the events because if it wasn’t for their prophecies than King Duncan, Banquo, Lady Macbeth and others wouldn’t have died. Banquo and Macbeth’s friendship wouldn’t have broken and Lady Macbeth and Macbeth wouldn’t have gotten the greed to become king and queen.
