While on the bus the week of 08/17/15, Mattie bumped her head while sitting in her sister’s lap. The child had a gash in her head that bled all over the bus. Mattie may have needed stitches but she was not taken for medical treatment. The bus driver stopped the bleeding and bandaged the child’s wounds; the driver also told Mr. Cleveland what had happened and suggested she be taken to see a doctor. It was rumored that Mr. Cleveland did not take Mattie for treatment and made statements that she would be okay. The reporter believes there may have been a knot on the child’s head from a previous injury and the accident reopened the wound. An incident report was completed and submitted to Ms. Rush. Investigating a shooting that occurred Friday morning on September 11, 2015, Lubbock police detectives responded to a vehicle that crashed at 4:25 am. The accident occurred at the 6000 block of the Marsha Sharp Freeway. Lt. Ray Mendoza said that they received a tip from an individual who heard the crash taking place from a neighboring hotel. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Christopher Loggins, 49, and his gold-colored Chevy Cobalt. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and while Loggins was awake, he was unresponsive. Police found no one else inside the vehicle.
Jason Hobbs, 17, and Robert ‘Bob’ Smith, 16, were killed in the rollover accident, along with another teen, whose identity has not been released to the public, pending next-of-kin notification. The teens were driving home along Highway 140 from a club when the car flipped and hit a tree, ejecting Hobbs. A 10 year old boy is hailed a hero after an unfortunate bus failure. Nicholas Sierra, a 10 year old safety patrol saved 3 small children from drowning in a partly submerged bus. At 2:29 pm on a Thursday coming back from school, his bus spun off the road into a nearby pond in Hillsborough County. Nicholas acted fast and carried out one kindergartener from the bus in alligator infested water. Then he actually went back in a brought out 2 more kids, a second and first grader both not knowing how to swim. The rest of that night Nicholas was traumatized. The bus driver, Lenior Sainfilmin, was suspended with pay in till investigators figure out what went wrong. Lenior though states that he tried to stop the bus but the brakes ended up being corroded
Ralph Patterson related he was sitting on the porch at his residence when he heard a loud crash. Patterson advised he opened the door to his residence and heard kids screaming. Patterson said he told his wife to call 911 and he got in his truck and drove down to Wilder Road and saw the van had struck and was up against the TECO pole. Patterson related he saw the youngest kid, leaning against the TECO pole and saw the older kid in the back of the van, trying to crawl out of the side window. Patterson said he flagged down a passing car (Kirk Butts), and when the vehicle stopped, he asked him for help. Patterson related Butts got the youngest kid from the ditch against the TECO pole and helped him get the older kid from inside the van.
On September 16, 2016, Terence Crutcher was shot and killed by a Tulsa, Oklahoma police officer, Betty Shelby. Crutcher, 40 years old, was discovered by Betty Shelby as she was in route to a domestic violence call. Former Officer Shelby, according to her attorney, thought Crutcher was possibly impaired when she encountered Crutcher’s SUV in the middle of the roadway. Prior to Shelby discovering the vehicle, the Tulsa Police Department received two 911 calls reporting Crutcher’s vehicle. The first caller advised the dispatcher an abandoned vehicle was blocking the street, and a man was running from the vehicle yelling, “it was going to blow up.” The second caller stated the SUV was, “in the middle of the road, and all of the doors were open,”
Patrol officials have identified the Culver Creek boarding school student who was killed on I-65, as 16-year old Alaska Young. On I-65 just south of downtown, a truck had jackknifed and ended up blocking both lanes and a police showed parking next to the truck. Alaska was driving by herself and was heading towards the accident. Apparently the car was on cruiser whiling crashing into the police car. The cop in the police car luckily got out of his car in time to avoid being hit. Authorities says Alaska was very intoxicated and resulting in her not being able to swerve around the police car when it’s lights were flashing. On Thursday, August 18, 2016 Sandy Mitchell Hadley II, age 20 and Sara Shea Williams age 18 was driving 2011 Nissan 370Z crashed into a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe were pronounced dead. The Tahoe passengers along with a three year old were sent to South Baldwin Hospital for minor injuries. Officer Davis said that Hadley clocked going 70 miles per hour on the express way.
