According to Jennifer Lewis, there was a place called Bikini Atoll that was used for nuclear arms testing. Due to the radiation from the tests that took place there, things that could not talk before could suddenly talk, like Spongebob, and things underwater could suddenly be cooked by using the radiation. Spongebob and his friends live underneath Bikini Atoll which is why their town is called Bikini Bottom. The use of animals, as opposed to objects or colors for instance, this is a strong idea because of the vast variety of similarities between the patients and animals. This allowed Kesey to depict a wider range of problems and themes for the characters, while still being able to get the point across to the reader.

Theories are a series of interconnected proposals. Theories are an effort to describe, explain, predict, and finally control a period of events. We are able to base our experiments and select the contenders for the experiments off of our theories. We are able to test our theories by how well the cumulated data describes, relates to and predicts reality. Theories act as patterns for interpreting specific data that we may refer back to. These patterns ensure we stay on topic and are able to obtain the proper results needed to verify our theories.
A theory is a set of systematic informed hunches about the way things work. A good theory goes beyond accepted wisdom and offers explanations and speculations about phenomena. Additionally, a good theory consists of a system of concepts which means that the theorist were able to make connections among his ideas. A theory tends to shape our perception of reality and behaviour and guides us through unknown areas.

Steven Johnson 's argument is that television can actually make you smarter because when you watch a show, you are trying to understand everything that is happening. Today’s shows have a lot of action and scenes trying to keep people’s attention. Therefore, people carefully tune in to television shows trying to understand everything that goes on during the show. Johnson said, “You have to pay attention, make inferences, and track shifting social relationships.” For instance, depending on how the characters interact with one another, changes happen as the plot of the story continues on. An example of this is if a character happens to disagree with another character and an enemy of both characters comes into the mix, and those two characters join forces to defeat their enemy. The spontaneous changes like this constantly change the storyline to make it more interesting for the viewer. Johnson mentions the “Sleeper Curve” and how it is considered to “enhance our cognitive faculties, not dumbing them down." The author displayed several examples showing the many plots that happen throughout different shows. The more complex the show, the "Sleeper Curve" pattern was more detailed.

A theory is primarily meant to explain or predict an event, behaviour or outcome. Proponents of a theory look for evidence to support the theory. This evidence should be independently observed and consistent after repeated observations. Some theories are speculative or ideas or guesses floated to encourage researchers to undertake the observations required to prove or disprove the theory. The question often debated is what comes
