AIM
The aim is to demonstrate the First Law of Thermodynamics using a two-shaft gas turbine.

METHOD
Using the 2 turbines (expanders) and compressor as volume control volumes with system boundaries defined in the figure below identify and calculate the values of all the streams needed in the 1st Law of Thermodynamics analysis of the selector control volume.

In the analysis ignore the effect of kinetic and potential energy changes. The first law is then reduced to: ������ − ������ = � ������������������������ � ������������������

PROCEDURE
I. II. III. Start and run the gas turbine(lab technician only) Fix the load on the system Allow conditions to stabilize and record all your readings onto the schematic shown on the last page. It make a few minutes for conditions to stabilize. As a guide conditions are stable when temperatures T3, T4 and T5 become stable.

LIMITATIONS AND SOURCES OF ERRORS
There were many limitations and possible errors that occurred during the lab and analysis. They were: 1. Knowledge of last calibration of the machine 2. Lack of samples where only one test was run. 3. T5 value could not be obtained from the machine therefore the power of free turbine could not be calculated specifically equations 25 and 26 1 4. The
