During the Industrial Revolution, people and towns went from hand manufacturing goods like cloth, to making them twice as fast with the work of machines. Starting at around 1760, machines began to replace man power. Instead of one hand cranked device huge assembly lines took their place. There were many down sides to working in a factory too though, it was unsafe and people would frequently get in accidents and lose limbs, other times, the living conditions were so poor and the pay was so low that people would go on strike. Americas economy was also prospering from all the purchases made from their own factories, instead of buying British goods.
