What excites me most about attending U.C. Berkeley is being under the instruction of world-renowned professors at a University that will open many doors for me in my attempt to implement world change. A huge fete, I know, but I am prepared to take baby steps in my endeavor. Many people in my opinion are hurting in the world and I want to be a part of healing that hurt
I dreamt of attending U.C. Berkeley since the age of 11 and had no idea until writing my personal statement, submitted with my UC application, that I inadvertently through my activism, mentoring, helping others, and extracurricular activities from age 11 was setting the stage for my future admission to this great university. Than
On July 6, 1999 a future Clemson Tiger was born, me. As the son of two Clemson alumni, it has been the overall goal of my life to attend the beloved Clemson University and follow my parents’ legacy. Experiencing football and baseball games, caressing Howard’s Rock, and making many everlasting memories has enticed me since I was a young boy. I have considered the university to be my number one choice when picking my future college since the first time I stepped foot on the campus. Knowing that I was initially not accepted into the undergraduate program urges me to prove myself and show the staff of Clemson all that I can bring to better further the reputation of the university. I have worked extremely hard to get to where I am today, but all I can do is get better and I will do whatever it takes to help guarantee my success as a student at Clemson University. I intend to live on campus to help ensure exemplary grades, attend all classes whether attendance is mandatory or optional, and lastly, I have an strong and supportive family of successful alumni to push me to be a prosperous student. My family deeply believes in a Clemson education over another because it has enabled them to be successful in the business world and obtain the high ranking positions in their companies that they possess today. Their success with their Clemson degrees inspire me to obtaining the cherished honor of a Clemson graduate and grow the highly respected reputation of a
I am a dedicated, caring individual committed to improving the world around me. My dedication to achieving goals, be it academic or in extracurricular activities, has shown time and time again that I will not give up until I meet the goal, even in the face of adversity. I believe that commitment to goals is a valuable quality I could use to contribute to the community. I plan to join clubs that UCF offer students to work with and contribute to the UCF community. I believe working with my fellow peers to be an important and enriching aspect of college life. I am always willing to help someone in need or point them in the
Since before I can remember, I dreamed of one day attending Indiana University one day. As a young girl at IU football games, I would see the students having the times of their lives enjoying the sporting event at their prestigious university. I was anxious for the day that I would be a Hoosier and found myself dreaming of my future at IU. Unfortunately, those aspiring dreams turned sour once I found myself in this position. After an unsatisfying first semester of college at IU, I had to decide whether I would stay or transfer to USI the following school year.
As a child growing up in San Diego, my youth has been nothing short of any teenager’s wildest dreams of living near the beach, having bonfires, and surfing on the weekends. Although this lifestyle is desired by many, I’ve always wanted something more out of what I do with my time. I want to go to Spring Hill College to become a humble professional in an industry, serve the most people, and learn about the world around me. My life was struggling for direction until I became active in the sport of volleyball and my religion flourished in the Catholic Church. These structures consume the majority of my service as I feel everyone deserves these opportunities for happiness and acceptance.
I am one of the following students who had the chance to obtain the South Bay Promise Scholarship. I didn't know about the South Bay Promise, nor the First Year Experience. I am thankful for having such an amazing statistic’s teacher, Mr. Espinoza from Hawthorne High School. When he told the whole class about the opportunities here in El Camino College, I knew I had to apply because it would make different. If it wasn’t for him, a teacher so passionate on seeing his students not just graduate but to motivate them to go to an university or a college after, I would never be in the place that I am.
When thinking of what my unique qualities can contribute to the community at Florida Gulf Coast University, my thought was to study the university in its entirety. Florida Gulf Coast focuses on its national prominence in undergraduate studies. Its main objective is continuing to pursue academic excellence, promote environmental sustainability, and valuing their public service. My aspiration is being given the opportunity to contribute each of my strong qualities to the university, in helping them to continuously strive for excellence.
There are several things I hope to gain from my experience as a student at California Baptist University. Such things include, a community of God loving, supporting and encoring friends, a Christian based education and opportunities to grow into the person God created me to be.
It has every program I was looking for along with a gorgeous campus and it’s in close proximity to the sea.The innovative nature of UNCW is what really made me think UNCW is the school for me and give me an opportunity to explore different horizons and allow me to be
I choose to attend the University of Florida for the culture of community that exists on the campus. The University of Florida has always been a school that wants its students to succeed, but what is the most interesting aspect is that the students push each other together to achieve their goals. We live in a society where it is a "Man vs Man" world and that only one can succeed. Here at the University of Florida, we challenge those social norms and try to create a pathway that fits for everyone. Here, we just don't have dreams, because as gators, we make those dreams plans and those plans into reality. Being able to accomplish or do something that makes your life fulfilling is what made me want to come to the University of Florida and continue to give back to the place that gave me the chance to improve myself and help others improve too.
During my senior year of high school, my paternal grandmother was very ill with cancer. My paternal grandmother would always talk about how happy she would be if I went to UC Davis for my bachelor's degree. She mentioned my older brother’s dream school as a great school for my passions. With her health declining, I decided to fulfil one of her biggest hope and dreams. My grandmother passed away in the summer of 2016 and I knew she would be able to pass on to the afterlife happy, knowing her grandchildren are going to achieve at their highest potential in the future. Although I am grateful for my own achievements, support from my family and where it has taken me, UC Davis was not truly the place I want to be. I truly wanted to attend a school
College is an extremely terrifying experience, especially when someone doesn’t know how to maneuver around or choosing the right course or class. Furthermore, it was a great privilege to receive that first letter from The National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS)., Knowing that I’ve been accepted into an honor society that chose someone like myself out of several other qualified students on my campus. That letter gave hope and inspiration for someone like myself the strength to overcome any obstacles, in addition, to being welcomed into this tremendous family that reaches far and wide to help students like myself to accomplish our goals and dream, especially being in the first generation to attend college especially an older adult continuing my
Furthermore, being a part of this California Baptist University will bring me closer to God and strengthen my faith with him. Strengthening my faith with God will allow me to figure out how I can positively impact and influence others and help them see the good in life.
My ultimate vision is to see a Liberia where football once more becomes a national pride. It is sad to see that power of football has been underestimated. The last time Liberia participated in a major continental tournament was in 2002, when Liberia participated in the World Cup qualifiers and African Cup of Nations. Just like other African countries, it is evident that Liberia has natural talents in football but the lack of proper management and sport programs have caused the beautiful game to lost interest in Liberia.
In 2012 I wanted to give back to my community, so on thanksgiving I decided to feed 100 homeless people around the downtown portland area. I put together 100 lunch bags that included a turkey sandwich, bag of chips, granola bar, and water. Not only did I feed 100 people, I was fortunate to sit down and talk to most of them. most importantly I was able to give them my time and to hear their stories as well as sharing my own story with them. In 2013 I was honored to give a speech to my fellow classmates at PCC about my experience feeding the homeless and how I planned to do this every year. After my speech I few of my classmates told me I inspired them to do the same. Im thankful for my diverse background and culture and I would love to bring that to the University Of Oregon. I plan on sharing my story and listening to other students stories as well. I would love to work with other students on making the campus and community a better place. By talking about my story and my culture I feel like I can inspire many students. I would also love to be apart of the Multicultural academic excellence program and being apart of the African Student Association. University Of Oregon has many students from different backgrounds and I would love to be apart of
The moment that I discovered Simon’s Rock, I was inspired by the broad-minded and innovative foundation of the school. I had been spending an immense amount of time and energy in search of an institution that recognized the potential of young scholars and shifted the paradigm that one must be of a certain age before expanding their knowledge. Mid-day on January 27, 2014, I opened my e-mail account expecting to see a new message from the Brown University Summer Pre-College Program to which I was applying, only to discover something far greater than I had thought possible. In capitalized crimson letters, the email read, “START COLLEGE. NOW.” With these three simple words, I knew that my quest for higher education was not in vain.
