In the following essay I will be talking about the disadvantages and advantages of partisan elections for state politics. I will also examine the last couple year's election results and costs. Finally, I will discuss if partisanship made a difference in the vote, as well as if a judge should be decided by partisan vote. Due to the fact SMUD is owned by its customers, costumers vote and elect each of the seven board members to fulfill four-year terms. Each board member represents a different geographic area, or “ward”. The board member representing Sacramento State University (CSUS), which is located within the boundaries of Ward 3, is Howard Poster, who also serves on the boards of the California Transportation Financing Authority and Sacramento City Compensation Commission.

“Vote?! Why should I even bother? It’s not going to make a difference any way!” This is statement that is constantly heard by young people, but more importantly by students when conservation begins to build with regard to participating with electoral systems and engaging with democracy .The purpose of this essay is to analyze and evaluate the four proposed student union electoral systems and recommend which option is best suited to fulfil the needs of the student union and use this recommendation to provide students with the confidence in their electoral system and furthermore indicate which options are to be considered less favorable. This essay will firstly , briefly outline the criteria that an electoral system must meet in order to recommended as the preferred option .This is essay will secondly, explain why ‘option 2 ‘is not suited for the purpose of student union elections and enlighten as to the disadvantages of why option 2 is the least favorable of the four systems . Thirdly, this essay will elaborate on why ‘option 3’ is a better suited as the preferred electoral system option and demonstrate advantages versus the few disadvantages. Lastly, this essay will illustrate some challenges with selecting an appropriate system for student union elections also explain why 5 ‘option 1’ and ‘option 4’ are not suitable to be selected as the student union electoral system.

What I appreciate most at BHSS is free and fair elections for executive positions. The election process is open, allowing anyone to run for a position without discrimination. All full members of the BHSS have a say in who deserves to hold the executive positions. This is a shining example of the democratic process which is not hindered by favoritism or any form of tampering. It is because of these reasons that I wish to be elections coordinator. I believe that this is the most crucial job at BHSS because it ensures that the executives are elected with full confidence of their constituents and, most important of all, ensures that there is no violation of any election protocols. The election process in the United States is a valuable process to the election of the proper officials to satisfy the people. The people run the country which is why we live in freedom because we control what happens with major decisions by choosing whom we want to decide these decisions. The whole country goes to vote on a certain day and by the end of that day we will vote to select who will run the country, state, county, or city political positions. The most complex decision and one with the biggest impact are selecting who the President of the United States shall be. We examine what their views are and who would do a better job. Then vote in our respected states with a certain number of electoral votes

For the 2016 Senate race for the state of New Hampshire there were two women running from the two major parties(Republican and Democrat) as candidates. For the Democratic party, then governor Maggie Hassan sought to win a seat against the incumbent Republican Senator Kelly Ann Ayotte. Maggie Hassan won the seat against the incumbent which was really surprising as the Ayotte won the primaries by a huge margin. Hassan received 47.97% of the vote while Ayotte received 47.84% showing that the margin of win was really slim. In the race, there was also an independent candidate, Aaron Day who received 2.40% of the vote and Libertarian candidate Brian Chabot who received 1.70% of the vote.

Nonetheless, the difference in party alignment has clear implications for the nomination process. During the nomination process, you are facing other members of your party to fight for the single nomination for the general election. This means you have to fight over voters with quite similar ideologies. This would exclude the extreme number of people from the other party, and perhaps many people who are in the middle and cannot decide which way to lean yet. Due to this, candidates must strategize their rhetoric and conduct to appeal to the most extreme members of the party. Studies have shown that the people who vote in primary elections are in general more highly educated, and indicate more party activism/pride (Lecture Notes).

This baseless and erroneous agreement among these pontificators of race and politics in this country--perhaps the leader of all of them being Barack Obama 's unofficially appointed "Potentate of All Things Black in America From Sea to Shining Sea," Reverend Al Sharpton--that winning the "black vote" by overwhelming numbers is paramount to any person seeking to be elected President of the United States, and especially so in 2016.
