At NC State, we taught USC 104 which was for undeclared student0-athleted to address additional concerns about majors and careers. We hosted a major-round table event that brought in various professors/deans from all of the majors on campus. This event allowed students to learn about the expectations and prospects of the major. They were also assigned a final research project on a career they were interested in. At Tulane, students could take a Career Development (CRDV) class. I participated in the mock interview session hosted for this class. As a staff we referred them to the Career Center. I had conversations about career usually around registration time because students needed to know what class fit their major. Other the conversation
Last two months ago, I was glancing the syllabus for this class. While reviewing at it, there are a lot of things comes to mind. For example, my doubt, if I am ready for this class, expectations, on how this class going to be and knowledge, on how this class going to affect me on my fears. CIS 280 is the last class that I need to take for 200-degree level, so I think I have no choice. So, I decided to sign up for the class and my goal is just to attend each class session and do all things I have to do. As far as right now, I am passionate and eager to pass this class, whatever it takes. One time, I remembered when I talk to you regarding about my fear of public speaking and you told me that, “you’ll be fine.” And after that, I kept those words in my mind. As I am hitting the half way mark for this semester, there is a presentation that each student need to do and that their individual presentation. Well, I survived that
Many basketball players are often compared to other basketball players. They are usually compared to how they play or handle the ball. There are many similarities between two basketball players but there are also great differences between them that many people may never have seen. In this case, Brandon Ingram (a player for the Los Angeles Lakers) is frequently compared to Kevin Durant. In 2016, Brandon Ingram was the second overall pick in the NBA Draft.

In today's society many religions and many people don't see eye to eye with the LGBTQ community. They see this community as something less significant than others, viewed as something unnatural, and even something different from this world we live in. This community suffers from being threatened for their lives, being scared of being their true self. In what power should people have to make these decision on what people should like; none, because people should be allowed to love whatever gender they please with. People in this community shouldn't have to a live in fear of being judged by others, tormented, or even humiliated because others don't agree with what gender they like. They are just like every human that loves, but many don't see that because of maybe the way they were raised was to only believe in same sex marriage or people just don't like the idea of a sex liking the same sex. People don't see that society is more open than it was back in the days. This community suffers from being othered and are being viewed as monstering walking on the street. There's stereotypes being made about people in this community, there's religions that disown family that are in this community, and people don't see these types of event could lead to self harm, addiction, and could mess a person mind, just because they don't agree with what gender they please with.
This article mainly targets current college students who are still undecided or students who are already in a major, and it tries to convince those students to make sure they chose the “correct” career path. Not only does it target college, students but also current high school students. This article is more of a guide to help those students who
According to my site supervisor, there is only one career lesson delivered to each grade level at the middle school. She said that it is not until students get to high school that the counselors really begin to focus on careers and future plans. Upon further research, I discovered that this was consistent across all middle schools in the district. I feel as though it is of utmost importance for students to be prepared and have a plan once they graduate high school. They need to be aware of their options and their career goals. In order to have a career goal and understand their post-secondary options, students must understand and gain exposure the various career paths and opportunities. It is never too early to begin planning for the future, developing career goals, and creating a post-secondary plan. For these reasons, I chose to focus, advocate for, and plan for individual planning activities that career paths to aid students in career planning.
When I was young in primary school, I was nine years old; I was a very quiet and shy girl outside with strangers. When my mom and dad had their friends at my house, or any one comes to visit us, I was still shy, but in our home I was very active and naughty, I was playing everywhere, I was playing with my sisters and I was born in a big house
When I originally was registering my class choices for the Fall 2016 semester, I considered English 111 to be an undemanding course that I could pass without a lot of effort on my behalf. I had no trouble passing prior English courses, years ago, so I felt this course would be similar. What I had not anticipated was how much I honestly could learn, such as: how you should properly cite sources, how you should suitably prove your thesis and how you can accurately set up the flow of a paper. Although, the most informative part of English 111, for me, has been absorbing all the information on the different styles of papers that can be written. I believe that recognizing the usefulness of distinctive varieties of papers will help me throughout
As I am entering into the final semester of my MLS studies I have the desire to gain more working knowledge of various library types and their practices. I would like to secure a practicum that will enable me the opportunity to gain practical hands on experience in a special library. Though this experience is not required for completion of my MLS degree I feel that the knowledge gained from this practicum placement will be invaluable. It will help create a more well-rounded and versatile professional base to draw from as I continue in the library profession.
My dad used to tell me all the time that we are all a work in progress. At the time I didn’t know exactly know what he meant. As years have passed on and my relationship with Christ matured, I now know what he meant. We as children of God can never be perfect, but what we can do is strive to be like Christ, this is what the definition of a Christian is, “Christ like”. I try to share the good news of Jesus, and when I do I like to talk to people about God’s Grace and through his son Jesus there is no Condemnation.
Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person has to make in their life. It is so important because that is what we will have to do to support ourselves throughout life. My whole life I have always wanted to do something where people will remember me. Throughout this course, I have learned that I do not know what I want to do with my chosen major. I do not regret majoring in Criminal Justice because I’m positive I want to do something within the criminal justice system. I have learned that I’m open to different ideas and career paths. Through the course, I have learned that I’m a great multi-tasker, I’m always prepared ahead of time with my deadlines and I never had to give excuses as to why something is not done on time.
I Leslie Garrera would like use this portfolio as an opportunity to have the two English courses at Marywood fulfilled. After high school, I received my associates degree for medical assisting and graduated cum laude in which I took COM 1101 Interpersonal communications, ENG 1101 English Composition l, and SOC 1101 Information Literacy. These courses provided me with a high level of language skills. I also took American sport history my first semester at Marywood which included a fifteen-page research paper that I received a high grade on. I bring this to your attention as I was the only freshmen in the class all others were juniors or seniors and I was able to achieve an outstanding grade as they did after taking both English classes. I
For four long years I felt as if my high school was in a different world in of itself. I had spent that time interacting with an extensive amount of groups, or “cliques”, and getting to know what they do. Through my experiences, I had begun to realize what made this “subculture” high school of sorts run like it did. High school is an incredibly dynamic time for people, and I had changed as a person dramatically from my freshman to senior year. Like many, my freshman year was quite awkward, as remnants of my middle school self remained with me. As time went on, how, I talked to more people and grew out of my passive and shy personality. This did not just randomly happen without reason though. I began to learn and realize who I was and whom I enjoyed talking to in school, which explained why I spent so much time socializing with multiple kinds and groups of people. Everyone’s concept of “normal” was different, and high school was where I learned that lesson and will never forget.
Every fourth-year teacher trainees will have to conduct practicum and will work under the guideline of their associate teachers and supervisors. The purpose of doing the practicum are to put training into practice, to become accustomed to teaching in the tertiary school settings, and to develop and expand each trainee’s teaching expertise and confidence. In the following paragraph, I will express what I have learnt from doing practicum to reflect on my past teaching strengths and weaknesses from the teaching practicum.
This lesson mainly addressed aspects related to career development. This lesson encourages students to discover their academic and personal strengths, their skillsets, and their interests. Students then take those concepts and apply them to career exploration. They are able to link their strengths, preferences, and abilities to potential future career paths. Some of the specific aspects of career development that I addressed include applying planning and career exploration in setting and obtaining lifelong career goals, applying necessary skills for career readiness and success, and teaching students where and how to obtain information about post-secondary options. In this lesson students are encouraged to apply decision making skills to place different careers into the appropriate career fields. In doing so, they are also encouraged to begin thinking about careers that are of interest to them and what career goals they have for themselves. They will be given resources in order to continue career exploration outside of the classroom. While I do not expect sixth graders to fully decide their career path, it is my firm belief that it is never too early to get students thinking about careers and having them set goals in order to obtain the career and future that they desire. I also believe that this unit touches on social and emotional development as well as academic development. This lesson allows the student to collaborate with one another and work in groups as well as in pairs. This promotes relationship building and teamwork. It also allows students to take an inventory of their personal strengths and skillsets. This could boost self-esteem and promotes a sense of self-awareness. Lastly, this unit also encompasses academic development. Students will understand that good grades and academic success are key elements to obtaining the career that they wish to have. By being academically successful, this will allow them greater options and opportunity post high school graduation.
