UBER and Airbnb are less effective at lobbying than the incumbent taxi companies and hotel companies primarily because they lack both economic and political power. They are relatively new to the market as they are the new form of business called sharing economy. Hence, they do not have strong affiliation with politicians through long history of networking nor they have strong economic power to pursue their interest as an interest group. That being said with the company itself, natural supporters of such company are also deemed less powerful than the incumbents. Moreover, unlike the incumbents, these supporters’ living is not directly related to those firms. In other words, their main source of income is not from UBER or Airbnb because like

There are other measures raised by the people themselves that cover many topics from important to rather silly, however, each will benefit someone along the way. It is possible that it will even hurt some people along the way. Either way, it takes a lot of money to accept or deny campaigns. Everything costs money, from the advertising to the lawyers. Sometimes they even charge five dollars for a mere signature. A few of these measures could end up raising more than forty million dollars for each
While gaining support from the general public can be stimulated by countless political figures, the greatest influencer in politics continues to be money. Campaign spending is a strong determinant in voting outcomes, further denoting its overwhelming importance. Funding and spending gain importance relative to the size of the campaign; gaining support for this bill would likely cost a significant amount, as support is needed across the state. Campaigning at this capacity requires advertisements, commercials, appearances, and possibly travel, all of which demand significant funding. However, the nature of this campaign lends itself well to considerable funding, as “organizational contributors tend to support issues in the area of... tax and revenue policy” (Braunstein, 2004, 124). This unwavering support from countless contributors will provide the state legislators an opportunity to broadcast their campaign and positively market Senate Bill 325.
Over the summer, I had the opportunity to work as a Management Trainee Intern at Enterprise Rent-A-Car at the home-city branch located in Kona. Enterprise Rent-A-Car is a management career, where each employee can advance from within. The branch office is on the second floor of the building and the rental cars are lined up on the ground floor, which made it easier for employees and customers to window shop from inside. Inside the office has tons of space for customers to rest and place their luggage(s), and the desks were hidden from sight behind a divider. Enterprise Rent-A-Car is a family business owned by the Taylor family. The Taylor family created a business that brought opportunity for all people, to build and grow a career, create friendships and leadership skills, and most importantly to have fun.

In 2008, Manmohan Shetty, Director of Business Development for Days Inn Worldwide Inc., described the hotel industry as a monopolistic competition because it has the following attributes: many sellers, differentiated products, multiple dimensions of competition, and easy entry of new firms in the long run.

Uber’s use of dynamic pricing strategy has caused uproar and has been very controversial because they charge higher premium rate during high volume days like New Year’s, Thanksgiving, St. Patrick’s Day or Halloween and during severe weather conditions. According to Uber’s website, “Uber rates increase to ensure reliability when demand cannot be met by the number of drivers on the road. Our goal is to be as reliable as possible in connecting you with a driver whenever you need one. At times of high demand, the number of drivers we can connect you with becomes limited. As a result, prices increase to encourage more drivers to become available.”
The average age of death for a homeless person is only 47 years young and homelessness has sadly doubled since 2010. As the nights get longer and temperatures drop, staying indoors becomes the place of choice to be... But for our homeless friends and disadvantaged they dont get the luxury of choice there only option is to become a survivor of circumstance, and even though sleeping/ camping rough/outdoors is never an easy situation, it becomes more risky and dangerous and unfortunately it can become fatal more often in the coldest season of the year.
I chose these two companies because that is what was required in accordance to the rules of this report.
The hotel industry is a very hard industry to enter into, due to one of the biggest obstacles, which is brand recognition. Right now there are a few large hotel chains that make a large footprint in the market. It is hard for a new entrant to come into the industry and compete with these large hotel chains without bringing something new to the table. Many large chains in the industry dominate the industry due to economies of scale due to franchising.

Vacation rentals or hotels, that is the question. When choosing the most suitable accommodation for your trip, there are a few factors that come into play. For example, how much are you willing to spend for a night? After all, the money that doesn’t go into accommodation, goes into meals or shopping.
