Despite being a first year student who drowned in fear of the unfamiliar and new college life experience before moving to UCSB, I would like to explore opportunities that allow me to step out of that fear into a realm of individual growth and invaluable experiences. Instead of allowing the fear of stepping into unknown territory deter me from being able to develop life skills and knowledge, I am determined to expose myself to new challenges and even making mistakes. After listening to RA Lisette’s personal growth experience as her time being a DA, I especially began to peak interest in this job because I see my time here at UCSB as an opportunity to not only broaden my academic knowledge, but more importantly, explore and develop my own character. The different skills that this job entails, such as communication, customer service, carrying out given tasks, and working as a team, will most …show more content…
With a team of other high school leaders, I planned and organized activities and games for younger students for the retreats and camp events during the school year. I learned how to communicate effectively with my fellow peers and staff members, and most importantly how to deal with conflict in times of disagreement by finding compromise and different solutions. In addition to my church experience, I have worked at a restaurant business that required much teamwork, quality customer service and responsibility in carrying out assigned tasks. Due to its fast paced speed in serving the food and customers, I learned how to adapt to situations that were unexpected, such as when a customer had a specific request. I quickly found the help of my coworkers the most valuable when adapting to these situations, and that in fact I was able to excel in my own work when working in a
Since I was fifteen I have always been drawn to answering important questions, engaging in meaningful discussions, and touching lives in intentional and personal ways. My favourite thing to do is disciple; engage in authentic conversations about life, relationships, and Jesus through a mixture of counseling, mentoring, and teaching. I have been intrigued by philosophy and theology since high school. Since then I did my undergraduate degree at Summit Pacific College, close to where I live so that I could help my family build our new house, while preparing to impact my world for Christ. At Summit, I earned a BA in Religion, with a major in Biblical Theology. In this major I took exegetical coursework, first year Hebrew and Greek, and was prepared for Graduate studies with a thesis course.

Through attending the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, I could offer the school itself, my community, and my classmates so much through my determination and dedication to pursue my degree in nursing. By attending UACCB, I will be able to fulfill my dream in helping others and improving the health of our citizens.
Emory University attracts me most for its abundant research programs provided for the undergraduate students. Personally, I like to do various kinds of research, including but not limiting to Mathematics. In Grade 11, I led a research project in respect of the negative effect created by the abuse of laser beam, which mainly focused on physics concepts. By doing a substantial amount of experiments and gathering related information from the internet, I obtained much more knowledge outside the classroom. As a result, doing a research program is one of the goals that I want to achieve at university. Regarding to the undergraduate research programs at Emory University, Research Partner Program (RPP) is an institution which supports students who interest in working on a research project with a faculty mentor. I find that one of the mathematics related research programs focuses on Algebra and Number theory, which is my favorite topics among all math theories. I hope that I could participate in this research program to train my analytical skills and presentation skills. Besides research opportunities, honors programs are also prevalent throughout the
This is shown through his superb community service which connects with my counseling. My dedication when it deals with assisting others is great. For instance, I remember this one time I was reading to the children during the National Dr. Seuss reading week, any individual can see that this distinctive guy such as myself was in his prime element. I certainly have a gift for children and that specific day I was a witness to this greatness. Given enthusiasm and passion to serve the community are like no other. My love going to the YMCA and working with the younger kids, I feel as though they are the generation that will precede us and inherit everything that we have established. Considering they will be building on the foundation we have developed he feels that we need to work closely with them and mold them into greatness. Watching me work with the kids daily you can see the care and
I remember watching my first CSI: Crime Scene Investigation episode. A blond woman was sprawled out on the floor with a large ax protruding from her back. It was a ghastly sight for a ten-year-old. The medical examiner probing the lifeless body excited me; I never knew why, but it felt satisfying when he separated the body parts to determine the victim’s cause of death. I fell in love with the anatomy of the human body. Pictures of the human veins, bones, and muscles hung up in my room. I was not fawning over Justin Bieber or the Jonas Brothers. The human bodies surrounding me became my idols.
During my time at the high school I managed to learn different and important skills that will be essential and that I will apply later in life. Two of the important skills that I managed to learn were demonstrating personal management and teamwork skills and to listen actively and speak clearly and coherently. I performed these skills in many classes that I took in high school, like math, english, science, also college classes. By using personal management and teamwork skills, I can use it while working in teams when you get to handle the situation that is going on and by getting to all work together and have different ideas to finish or make the project better with everyone's ideas. You get to combine uncommon ideas within each other and use
To prepare for attending such a prestigious all-English institution like UIC, I have improved my English ability by taking challenging English classes like AP English Language and Humanities literature AC, in addition to consistently reading classic English literatures. These activities have enhanced my English writing abilities, and helped me getting excellent scores on standardized tests. Furthermore, because I believe that a “good” scientist must have a deep understanding of humanity, I have put extra effort into studying my humanities courses, which covered major works of art, music, literature, and political philosophers central to Western Civilization. I hope to continue my study of humanities in UIC’s well-established common curriculum,
The breadth of my experiences, coupled with my interdisciplinary education, has taught me to appreciate the diverse perspectives in the world. By understanding the bountiful views in the world, I can stand in solidarity with others and better serve their needs. Specifically, I worked with several administrators on a university-wide diversity taskforce that ultimately resulted in a new executive position, titled Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer. The taskforce’s work will strengthen diversity on campus, shaping Loyola’s future student body to characterize more inclusively a myriad of interests and backgrounds. Further, as a member of the Student Government of Loyola Chicago’s executive board, I helped pioneer the Magis Scholarship Fund, which supports undocumented students who are unable to receive federal financial aid. By attracting a unique population of students, this student-led initiative will bolster diversity on campus. It also will support an underserved, marginalized community and propel justice, which is the foundation of serving others. Crafting meaningful change for the student body and representing the students’ voice embodies my personal values of serving others and advocating
My ideal job is to work as a Materials or Process engineer in an alternative energy company. Long-term, my dream is to obtain a Masters in Engineering Management or Chemical Engineering and eventually move into a managerial position. Most important to me, however, is being in a position to be able to actively contribute to the world’s search for more sustainable energy
I applied to UCR because I wanted to be in a university where there is a community feel. There are also many opportunities for someone who is looking forward to attending medical school. UCR enraptured me before I had the opportunity to visit the campus. However, when I did visit the campus it surpassed my expectations. The campus brought a smile to my face from its greenery and its diversity.
I had several other job experiences that have helped me fine tune my leadership and organizational skills. First, I was a leader of a childrens weekend group in which I had to prepare the program for over 20 kids. In the last four summers, I was a day camp counselor. . Additionally, I did a Chabbibi program, which is a big little sister program that helps younger students navigate their way though high scholl. .These leadership roles developed my ability to work and communicate with other people and children of all ages.

My decision to pursue graduate study in the United States is underscored by my desire to be a part of the graduate program at your institution. Since University of California offers great research facilities and the faculty at the university is excellent.
My decision to apply to the Masters of Medical Sciences program at the Boston University is the most important one ever since I made the decision to pursue medicine as my future career. As a former lab manager who conducted various research on cell biology, I have learned that research alone wasn’t able to satisfy my desire to develop relationships with the individuals that I help. After learning about the program, its curriculum, and its countless extracurricular opportunities, I believe this Masters program will be my stepping stone to medical school.
