In an earlier report, Jon Jones has become the UFC’s interim light heavyweight champion at UFC 197 in Las Vegas after he defeated Ovince Saint Preux via unanimous decision. Jones was supposed to take a rematch with current UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier, however Cormier was forced to pull out of the bout with a reported injury. But things are getting great for Jones, reports said that Cormier has now medically cleared following an MRI on Monday. UFC president Dana White has confirmed the reports through an interview with ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. White also said that both fighters, Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones will headline UFC 200 this coming July. It’s a good news for Jon jones because he now get a chance to reclaim the UFC light heavyweight title in a showdown against current titleholder Daniel Cormier at UFC 200. Both fighters were set to face off at UFC 197 before Cormier suffered a foot injury that ruled him out of the bout. Not only did white said that the rematch was imminent for UFC 200, but Cormier also asked Jones into staging a second fight in July as long as he’s cleared to compete. …show more content…
A rematch between Jones and Cormier would help reignite interest in UFC 200 that lost a lot of its lustre after McGregor's pulled from his main event. According to Fox Sports, White also emphasised that it looked as though Jones needed a warm-up clash before moving back into title

he boxed. His pro career was paying off and he was shooting for a chance at the Featherweight
Truly, Ali was a heavyweight warrior, and Jones is a light heavyweight. In any case, Jones' strolling weight is sufficiently close to Ali—and Jones is likely nearly a heavyweight move at any rate—that we're happy with pulling the trigger on this.
Time limits, protective gloves, banned techniques lists, and many more were added in order for society to accept it and this allowed the UFC to advertise more as a sport instead of a blood-sport. The only problem after the UFC and MMA became legal in many states was attracting attention. In the early days the sport was not profitable due to the ban in almost all U.S states so the original owners sold the company. Dana White, Frank, and Lorenzo Fertitta “…spent $2 million to buy the Ultimate Fighting Championship…” (Anderson). White and the Fertitta brothers were millions in the hole trying to make the company profitable and were ready to sell but, than they came up with the idea of the Ultimate Fighter. The Ultimate Fighter was a reality show where a group of athletes were all put in one house where they would only focus on fighting. This show allowed people to view how the fighters trained and learn the various personalities each athlete had. The finale of this show is what resurrected the sport. The contest between Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar was a “three 5-min. rounds of compelling intensity” ( Chua-Eoan et al.). In this fight both contestants put everything on the line which resulted in a brawl than an actual technical fight. This however attracted viewers for as the fight went on, viewers started tuning in. This Fight is regarded as the most important fight in UFC history (Mannion). This led to
No longer could Johnson’s talent be ignored, he was in line to fight Jim Jefferies.
The news out of the Daley camp is that weight cutting issues has been the reason behind the last minute news. The weight-cut issues became the course of concern yesterday when Daley did not show up to the weigh-ins as he was still in the process of cutting the weight for the fight. Paul Daley's opponett Derek Anderson made the weight during the weigh-in's.
Johnson followed Jeffries from town to town. “Jeffries, however, refused to fight a black boxer and instead decided to retire undefeated.”(Unforgivable Blackness). The Championship was handed over to a white named Tommy Burns, who as well declined to fight Johnson but eventually gave in at the cost of thirty thousand dollars. In the year 1908, Johnson knocked out Burns in the sixteenth round, to win the title and create history. “He was a fast and brilliant defensive boxer who fought at a time when white champions like John L. Sullivan and James Jeffries refused to fight black fighters. Jeffries retired rather than face Johnson, but he returned six years later when the clamor for a great white hope could not be ignored”(Sandomir D3). Even James Jefferies was beaten and and thus, Johnson had beat all that stood in his way, from bottom to the top. Through perseverance and relentlessness, Johnson had achieved his dream.
During the period of racial segregation, African-American boxers were not allowed to participate in the boxing heavyweight championship. Finally, in 1908, Jack Johnson, a black boxer, was finally given a chance to fight for the most prestigious belt in boxing. He successfully defeated Canadian boxer, Tommy Burns and broke the wall between white and black
A day later, the then undefeated fighter would find herself on the receiving end of her first career defeat. Rousey was soundly beaten by challenger Holly Holm during their main event showdown for the women's bantamweight title at UFC 193. Holm, a former boxing world champion, displayed the full range of her striking ability - keeping Rousey at bay with her deadly repertoire of precise punches before knocking her out in the second round with a devastating left kick to the head.
Floyd Mayweather is currently the biggest name in boxing, while Conor McGregor is the biggest name in Mixed Martial Arts. While the two do not compete in the same sport, and Mayweather recently retired, the possibility of a matchup has been discussed for a long time. Despite Mayweather’s recent retirement from boxing with a 49-0 record, those talks are becoming more realistic than ever, as multiple offers have been made.
A boxer could try to unify the belt, capturing all the titles of the different organizations, but this is not likely. In the UFC, mixed martial arts ' major organization, there is only one champion for each weight class. So the heavyweight champion is just that, the undisputed heavyweight champion. Granted, there are small MMA organizations, but they are like the minor leagues in baseball. This is where most young MMA fighters get their start.
Being supportive can be very loving and convincing. Learning to help out and take charge took buck far in life, my mom was being supportive so that she can help push my brother kirk to do something more. Because buck was being helpful and loving to John Thornton, and my mom was being helpful and living to Kirk and that will keep family strong. Loving and caring for family and others will keep you from living in the worst and keep you from living in Great Bend, Kansas.
By the end of 1903, the newspapers were calling on Jim Jeffries to fight Johnson for the heavyweight title. Still, Jeffries refused to fight black fighters. In 1905, Jeffries retired after never having fought Jackson. The new champion would be Tommy Burns. As Johnson began chasing Burns around the country for a fight, he began dating yet another white woman named Hattie McClay. He was warned by his manager to be more tactful, but he refused. Over a ten year period, almost 850
