For the science fiction unit, I read the book “Uglies” by Scott Westerfeld. This story is the first part of a 4-book series. The author writes mostly science fiction, but other types too, for young adults.
This book contains a futuristic setting where everyone is ugly, and then when they turn 16, they get an operation done where they become absolutely beautiful.
