There are many works of art and many different possible locations that could be considered when trying to create would be classified as “The Ultimate Art Exhibit”. For my project, I have decided to place my Art exhibit inside of Rome, Italy for many reasons. One of which is that Rome is known to have very beautiful building architecture and is known for great masterpieces such as The Pantheon and also the Colosseum. Due to the extremely high number of tourists that Rome gets year-round, if an art gallery that yielded extremely high expectations were placed here then it would receive a very high volume of people daily. Each of the halls that contains a different piece will have its own theme and design to match the art that is used as a centerpiece inside of it. Each hall will also contain elements to bring out the true nature of the art contained inside and to demonstrate a sense of understanding for the piece itself and the time is was being created in. If not understanding, then it would produce a sense of awe in many of the viewers in the exhibit. The reason behind this theme was simply to be able to dedicate a gallery to each of the individual masterpieces and put in some extra artistic touches to make things far greater. It may be different than a standard Museum or art exhibit, but these are some of the greatest achievements in historical art and they need a place that can show their significance.
The first hall will contain Egyptian Art, and in particular Narmer’s Palette. Narmer’s Palette was a symbol of art that displayed a scene of the unification between the upper and lower divisions of Egypt (Kinnaer) and was the easiest example of canonized art (Kinnaer) that we currently have. I chose this piece because not only is it a symbol of Egyptian unification but because of its significance in the art world. Narmer was displayed wearing both crowns and standing in a Victory pose which was used to show his power over his enemies. This pose was adopted by other styles of art to show power

One pleasant afternoon, my classmates and I decided to visit the Houston Museum of Fine Arts to begin on our museum assignment in world literature class. According to Houston Museum of Fine Art’s staff, MFAH considers as one of the largest museums in the nation and it contains many variety forms of art with more than several thousand years of unique history. Also, I have never been in a museum in a very long time especially as big as MFAH, and my experience about the museum was unique and pleasant. Although I have observed many great types and forms of art in the museum, there were few that interested me the most.
Lorraine O’Gradys’ unintentionally historic performances, seemingly elevate everyday life to the status of art. In her ‘exhibit’ at the Studio Museum, her work is represented through photographs, in ‘Art is…’. Thirty years ago, O’Grady presented ‘Art is’ in the form of a float in the African American Day Parade right here in Harlem. Performers pranced with empty frames, metaphorically capturing fleeting pictures of the people and places that surrounded the route of the parade. By doing so, the trappings of high art were brought out of the museum, into the street, which promotes a new way people might begin to recognize this new art form in the celebrations of every day life. Positioned alongside Central Park in the heart of New York City, The Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the largest and most influential art museums in the world. The Met houses an extensive collection of curated works that spans throughout various time periods and different cultures. The context of museum, especially one as influential as the Met, inherently predisposes its visitors to a certain set of understandings that subtly influence how they interpret and ultimately construct meanings about each individual object within the museum. Brent Plate in Religion, Art, and Visual Culture argues that “objects obtain different meanings in different locations and historical settings.”An object placed on display behind a glass case inside a museum would hold a vastly different meaning if it was put on sale by a street vendor, like the ones who set up their tables in close proximity to the Met. The different meanings that objects are able to obtain is attributed to the relationships that are established between the object itself and the environment that surrounds it. These relationships often involve the kind of audience that a museum attracts, where the work is exhibited, and how the exhibits within a museum is planned out. Museums subsequently have the ability to control how these relationships are established which influences the way a viewer is able to construct meaning. Among the many artworks I have seen, I decided to discuss about the “Sarcophagus Depicting a Battle between Soldiers and Amazons (Warrior Women)” from the Roman civilization. It was built sometime in between 140 A.D. to 170 A.D and is approximately forty and a half inches in length, ninety-one and a half inches in width, and fifty and a half inches tall in height (“Roman Sarcophagus”). This masterpiece appealed to me because of the unique approach that has been designed to honor the deceased. Many people are familiar with the formatting and inscriptions of a gravestone because it is usually engraved with an individual’s full name, birth date, and death date. During the Roman Empire, a sarcophagus, which is a coffin, was widely used to show decorative themes that includes: battle scenes, hunting scenes, weddings, or other memorable episodes from the life of the deceased individual. The most luxurious ones were made from marble surrounded by symbolic sculptures, figures and inscriptions on all four sides (“Sarcophagus”). Another feature that captured my attention was the large quantity of details used to bring out a lifelike aspect of the deceased individual’s favorable moments in their life. In this artwork, this sarcophagus was dedicated to a Roman commander. The exterior of the sarcophagus has been well-decorated and carved with exquisite details depicting a battle scene
To highlight the relationship between each of the exhibitions, the staff could provide daily visitors with a cohesive guide map of the entire museum. The current location of the museum is massive to accommodate for the displays as well as three research laboratories, but due to large size, each exhibit feels isolated and
The Brooklyn Museum hosts around 1.5 million works of art of different variations. One particularly fascinating genre is the Ancient Egypt exhibition. On the third floor, the exhibit is split into two sections: Early and New Kingdom, which is separated by a conjoined gallery. Entering into the conjoined gallery, artifacts from both eras are encased in rectangular glass. On the left, is the entrance to the New Kingdom Wing. In this section, a string of spotlights illuminates each encasement with a golden warm hue. Inside some cases are miniature shaved skulls placed upon a singular black pole. In others are lapis jewelry, and fragments of etched clay pottery. Further into the exhibit is yet another enclosed space. The walls are painted midnight black and the lighting is dimmed. There are rows of laid canvas wrapped mummies and tablet remnants all separated in glass.
The art exhibit I plan on attending is the Gibbes Museum of Art in Charleston, SC. Gibbes is one of Charleston most historic museums and house and displays not only modern art but many pieces of art that show the show history of Charleston. Gibbes opened in 1905. I chose Gibbes Museum of art because of its location and the rich history of Charleston that influences the art reflection the culture that Charleston has been for the last 112 years. The museum not only displays many local pieces of art and sculptures, it also has on display art from around the world. Currently the museum has many visiting artists but also has a permanent collection that is on display. Of the permanent collections, the most interesting to me is the 18th and 19th Century
The Whitney Museum of American Art has often been referred to a citadel of American Art, partially due to the museums façade, a striking granite building (Figure 1), designed by Bauhaus trained architect Marcel Breuer. The museum perpetuates this reference through its biennial review of contemporary American Art, which the Whitney has become most famous for. The biennial has become since its inception a measure of the state of contemporary art in America today.
Next, each room of art were unique. When I get into each room, some things that surprise me that each room was very exclusive, original and uncommon. Also, the rooms were very enlightened and I personally felt that each room had something for everyone in the family. My experience to the Dallas Museum of Art was a bit different from the last time I had attended the museum. I was curious to see what pieces of art there would be and if it would be the same as the previous visit which was long ago, but to me all the pieces of art were so different and very interesting. It may have been because I saw all the pieces in a new perspective since learning about the different types of paintings there can be and knowing how and where sculptures come from. Even though I do not know much of art I really gave it a try into seeing what the artist may have wanted us to get out of his work. By reading a view of the chapters made me aware of art, I wouldn’t call myself an expert, but it was actually nice knowing that a

The museum housed many exhibits of historical value dating civilization back to the paleolithic period of 2,500,000-100,000 B.C. Below you'll find examples of mans rise through the use of tools and refined skills from cave living to structured living throughout evolution. This is an experience that has grounded me to a new interest in structures that we have devised to become the homes we use today for the rest of my life.
The S.W.O.T. analysis for the Cinicinnati Art Museum is what gives the viewer the information to easily see what is wrong and isn’t wrong with the museum, while providing information on possibilities the museum can capitalize on and what threats could harm the museum.
Jan van Eyck was active since 1422 and died in 1441. He was the most celebrated painter of the fifteen-century in Europe. One of his famous works is “The Last Judgment”. At first sight this work immediately attracted my attention. The painting’s stunning colors and the fact that it reminded me of a previous similar work I have seen, triggered in my mind. The material that is used is oil on canvas, transferred from wood. The size of this work is 22 1/4 *7 2/3 in. (56.5 * 19.7cm).
