From the time I got pregnant with my daughter. I started to realize hey, it will be wonderful if I can learn how to be an ultrasound technician. The best thing was being able to see the baby grow over the months by having my ultrasound done. From there on my main focus have been to go to school and graduate as a Radiation technician. In my first year of college I was unfocused hanging out with friends were more important to me, then getting my education. Now, that I have kids of my own school is my only option. I want to be part of the Ultrasound program because I realized that where I’m from people don’t consider going into a major like this. I was raised to become a doctor or a nurse it was either of those or your family will be disappointed. I looked at how many doctors and nurses my community has but rarely any ultrasound technicians. I also like to travel to different parts of the world and I would love to have those skills as a ultrasound technician to help those women who are unable to afford to go to a clinic to see if their baby is in good condition. A woman should never have to choose between making a decision about losing her kid, I want to be able to help those women that are struggling daily whether their baby has a health condition or even letting the parents know their baby gender.

My interest in Sonography first stemmed from another career interest in computers. I gained my problem solving skills at a young age through using computers. I was able to decipher different codes and morph them into something new. When something went amiss with the computer I would know what procedure to use in order to fix the computer. I loved the feeling of taking something broken and making it full of potential again. However, I knew I wanted to do something more than working with technology. I also had an interest in the medical field. I loved visiting the doctor. I was fascinated how the doctors and nurses could use their problem solving skills as well as their compassion to change someone’s life. I wanted to make a difference in people’s
Being able to identify lumps, swelling, tissue damage, cysts, and the overwhelming news of the sex of a baby all have something in common, an ultrasound. Swelling of the spleen, kidney stones, blood clots, aneurysms, cancer and so much more can be identified through the works of an ultrasound’s imaging technique. Ultrasound involves many concepts, procedures, and careers. The amount of medical possibilities involved with ultrasounds is useful in major medical diagnostics. The field of ultrasounds and career opportunities are widely growing. As medical careers flourish, needs for technicians in many fields of medicine are increasing. Instead of a doctor choosing complex and risky surgery to find out problems within the body, they can now
In the future I plan to pursue a career in medicine, more specifically an ultrasound technician. Although English isn’t a subject that is often associated with medicine I believe there are many ways that it will help me in many ways in my career. Before I can even complete an ultrasound degree I will have to write many essays, with the skills I learned in English class. To prepare for tests I will often have to read books filled with information. Once I get a job in the field there will often be times when I have to record information from appointments. At times I will have to send emails to people regarding their diagnosis. Ultrasound technicians don’t seem to do much public speaking but they still have to communicate with the patients and
Diagnostic Medical Sonography is a career that falls within the medical and health field. Diagnostic medical sonographers utilize machinery known as sonographic scanners. These scanners create images of the patient's internal organs. There are a few other names that this specific career may be referred to as, which are Ultrasound Tech and/or Medical Imaging. Although though there are advancement possibilities, there are pros and cons about the career. The work environment may be difficult, and differential diagnosis is found within sonography. There is a lot of time and dedication needed as well as important information to know and understand about the career before deciding whether or not this is the chosen path that will be taken. I have decided that DMS is the career I want to be successful in because I have always had the interest of becoming a prenatal sonographer. I love working with people and I also wouldn’t mind being the person that could potentially save someone else’s life by
The process of becoming an ultrasound technician can be one that is intimidating. However, it doesn’t have to be. With the help of an organization called American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), those seeking to be a sonographer can achieve their goals. Although there are many steps to take, it can be done. This paper will help instruct individuals who wish to go through the sonography principles and instrumentation (SPI) examination (Sonography Principles & Instrumentation [SPI], (2015).
“Scrub wearin’, gel squirtin’, patient scannin’, baby findin’, Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. Eat, Sleep, Scan.” Before I began my research on being a Medical Sonographer, I already had a pretty good idea at some of the things they do. They mainly do ultrasounds on babies, to see the growth and health of the baby. They also do ultrasounds on all different people, if they’re in pain and they need to determine the problem. Their job might seem easy; sometimes it is, but the other times when we discover something wrong with the patient you have to keep it in. You are not allowed to tell them what you just found out; only the doctor can do so. It’s very heartbreaking for them to do baby ultrasounds because sometimes, for some unknown reason something happens to that baby and it’s hard to keep that bottled up and act like nothing’s wrong in front of their parents. I wanted to find out what this job requires and what kind of education i need to obtain to get a job for this career. I also wanted to find out the employment outlook, the estimated salary, and jobs in Mississippi for this career. The first place I went to find my information was referred to by my teacher, where I found every answer I needed and more. The website I found my information on is called mschoices.com. It gave me my complete job outlook, requirements, and the salary of a Medical Sonographer. After I gathered all of my research I set up an interview with a medical sonographer at a clinic in Tupelo to ask a

The fast-paced work environment and major responsibility is something that I am intrigued by. I find radiologic imaging such a fascinating technology and am extremely passionate to make a career out of it.
In 2009, I had chosen to pursue the Radiology Technician Program. I had picked this program, not because I wanted to do this as a career, but because at the time I had to pick a major and
Final Paper Description of Future Profession The profession I am choosing to pursue is ultrasonography. Ultrasound technicians operate ultrasound equipment. These machines use sound waves to create images of the inside of the body. These sound waves are harmless and not painful.
I have chosen to study Radiography as I am very passionate about Science. Although this was never my strongest subject I always enjoyed studying the 3 science subjects and I soon developed an interest in radiography. I always worked hard to understand the fundamentals of science. I have developed an interest as I have seen people with many illnesses which had led me to want to pursue a career in radiography. My passion for patient care has strongly come from seeing people suffering from different health problems. Although it is a challenging profession I am willing to put in 100% to ensure I succeed in gaining a career. This career is a very rewarding career and I believe with my communication skills I will be able to provide support for patients and families. My interest in technology and disease has led me to an interest in this career.
I have always been interested in the medical field. My father is a physiotherapist and my mother has a bachelorette in Microbiology and is a laboratory technologist. I have grown up having science-themed discussions around the dinner table and books lying around the house. With the experience of my parents at their respected professions, I did not have the feeling that these paths were the correct fit for me. I liked the hands on side of physiotherapy but I wanted something more technology related. I searched the medical field for a career that combined my fascination for both human science and technology in addition to being able to interact with patients. My research on Radiation Therapy instantly established a thought that this is a career
My mother always reminded me how education is the most important tool which I can use to improve myself and my community. After obtaining my undergraduate degree in geography in the late nineties, I later moved to the United States a year later to peruse a master degree in computer sciences. After arriving in the US, I learned that life was not as easy as I thought. I could not afford the tuition, paying my bills and taking care of my family. I later dropped out of school to work some low paying jobs in order to save money to continue my education. After several years of contemplating what to study, I enrolled in a community college to continue my education in radiologic technology.
Ultrasound or ultrasonography is a medical imaging technique that uses high frequency sound waves. It is a high pitch frequency that cannot be heard by the human ear. In ultra sound the following happens: High frequency sound pulses (1-5megahertz) are transmitted from the ultrasound machine into your body using a probe. The sound wave will travel into your body until it hits an object such as soft tissue and bone. When the sound wave hits these objects some of the wave will be reflected back to the probe. While some waves may carry on further till they hit another object and then reflected back. The probe picks up these reflected sound waves and relays them to the machine. The distance and time from the probe,
