Demographic Environment
Understanding Demographics:
The Business Dictionary defines Demographics as “Socioeconomic characteristics of a population expressed statistically, such as age, sex, education level, income level, marital status, occupation, religion, birth rate, death rate, average size of a family, average age at marriage, etc.” Demographics imply to people, people become customers, they eventually buy the products, and that is when the company really works.
From a business or marketing point of view, demographic data plays a very essential role in understanding people, their behaviour patterns, and their interests or preferences. Collection and analysis of data is more often than not, the first step towards every business venture, expansion, and promotion. It helps the retailers and marketers to segment the population and choose their target audience, which provides the basis for developing an attractive product mix for their clientele or creating an appealing marketing campaign.
Demographic Segmentation:
One of the main reasons why demographic segmentation is the most popular form of segmenting the customer market is because majority of the demographic data required to make business decisions is easily available in the form of census. Census is the official collection of data for every member of a population. It is not just a count of individuals, but also a recording of various details of those individuals.

It might impact because more immigrant households are enrolling in early childhood programs. According to Edweek.org(2014) the enrollment has increased in certain regions to include the west and south regions. Latinos were one of the races that were in high attendance in those school districts. Changing demographics can impact the center due to teachers not adequately prepared to teach children from cultural and linguistic background. This impact would force centers to have teachers training programs to prepare teachers for a more diverse center. Eric.ed.gov(2014) discusses that teachers will need to modify or change their teaching practices to now fit a changing demographic to specifically meet the needs of their students.
Demographic Segmentation fragments the market into categories according to different demographic factors, usually with regards to the wants and needs of multiple consumer groups. The
According to Bradley Stonefield, the demographic analysis that needs to be address is a specific population to describe the small business and its characteristics, such as income level, background checks, driving records, location and salaries. A demographic analysis is useful in a business plan, to describe the population where the business is located.
Introduction: Marketing has become an art form in today’s society, analyzing specifics and how the consumers react to certain goods and services. The needs of consumers are constantly changing, so marketers must study every detail and be able to recognize the changes in wants and needs. Marketers use this data to become “sensitive” to the needs of each group of individuals, appealing to the minorities with said products. Below is a slight insight to what questions and data marketers analyze to make their goods and services appealing to the individual groups.
It is desirable to develop demographic and psychographic profiles of these likely consumers (the target audience).
* Demographics – As JS reveals its customers as leisure travelers, many factors of demographics do not relate to them as in the market of airline industry, consumers can be of any gender, age families size etc. One aspect in demographics however, is income. The income of the consumers in JS ranges from low income to even the highest income based of the preference of consumer’s choices.
Demographic segmentation refers to segmenting a target market through population characteristics such as age, ethnic background, race, education, gender and income of a target market (Baack, Harris & Baack, 2013). This is important as it helps an organization to identify what markets to target and which new markets to venture into. The Jeep vehicle portfolio line includes the Jeep Wrangler, Grand Cherokee, Cherokee, Compass, Liberty, Patriot and Wrangler Unlimited and it has been established that some of the target demographics includes gender, education and

Demography is the science of human populations and their change over time, and the United States Census reveals important demographic changes decade-by-decade that affect politics, government and public policy. One of the most important demographic trends is that the U.S. has become a far more multicultural and multilingual society than it was in 1960, due in part from changes in the immigration laws in 1965 that abolished the quota system of the National Origins Act that favored European immigrants. As a result, Asians and Hispanics have been the majority of new immigrants over the past forty years and states like California and Texas already have majority-minority populations or soon will have. At some point in the 21st Century, the U.S. as a whole is going to become a majority-minority society for the first time in its history. Another major demographic trend is the rapid growth of the over-65 population as the Baby Boom generation begins to retire, which will mean heavier expenditures on federal entitlement programs like Medicare and Social Security. Elderly voters are also the most politically active group, especially when protecting these key safety net programs, and this has become a major political and public policy issue in recent years.
Different ways to segment a market would be demographics, geographics, psychographics, and behavioral. I think that it makes more sense to focus on just one segment rather than use more than one it would be more successful for the company.
Demographics play a large role in aiding businesses with the adequate information to convince the viewers. The main demographics include gender, age, culture, race, and
Market segmentation is an approach used by a company to select their target market and provide data for a marketing plan. “Market segmentation consist of a two-step process; naming broad product markets and segmenting these broad products-markets in order to select target markets and develop suitable marketing mixes” (Perreault, Cannon, & McCarthy, 2014, p.97). There are 4 categories pertaining to market segmentation; behavioral, geographic, demographic, and behavioral.
Demographic This is the most common method of dividing the market and is segmentation based on general population characteristics.
Demography is the study of the components of population variation and change. Death rate and birth rate are two determinants of population change. Theory of Demographic Transition is comparatively recent theory that has been accepted by several scholars throughout the world. This theory embraces the observation that all countries in the world go through different stages in the growth of population. A nation's economy and level of development is directly related to that nation's birth and death rates. Population history can be divided into different stages. Some of the scholars have divided it into three and some scholars have divided it into five stages. These stages or classifications demonstrate a
