Having nothing and fighting for the American dream just to be thrown to the start again. This is what undocumented immigrants deal with daily when crossing the border for freedom. Even though many immigrants are successful and without criminal activity, numerous Americans think they should be deported back to where they came from. Undocumented immigrants should be granted citizenship because this is all most immigrants have, immigrants improve the economy, and immigrants do not cause crime. To start, undocumented immigrant should be able to obtain citizenship because they have nothing to go back to. Undocumented immigrants come to the United States to live a more safe fulfilled life. The Gonzalez family from the documentary 30 Days is an example of this incident. The Gonzalez family had nothing in Mexico, all the family had was walls for a house with almost no roof. To get water the family ran a hose from a well nearby. This is why the family came to the United States for a start of a new substantial life. Secondly, undocumented immigrants come to the United States to support their family. In Mexico, the immigrants do not make nearly as much of an annual income as Americans do. According to the “Habitat for Humanity”, “More than half of Mexico’s employed population make less than 20 dollars a month.” The family does need more of an income to support their family than what they are getting.
