The Great Depression Was A Time Of Unemployment, Sadness, And A Time of Hunger. Many Parents Struggled To Even Feed there Kids A Meal, Let Alone Find A Decent Job. The Stock Market was doing nothing but declining Rapidly, The Stock market lost 8-9 billion in value. In my Opinion the primary Start of the great depression was the "Black Tuesday", That was the day the stock market fell and lost billions of dollars. People began to hold small rallies, Despite The rallies the stock market continued to decline And get worse. Many People became homeless and incapable of feeding Themselves let alone feed there children. The unemployment rapidly jumped to 20 percent. Many people went from town to town, searching for jobs that simply did not exist.

The Great Depression affected everyone and everything in America. It affected families, friends, businesses, jobs, cities, states, the entire country! But everyone, no matter whether they were a man, a woman, or an african american, was affected in different ways, some ways worst than others. Everyone who lived through the Great Depression had a different experience for themselves. The women had a tougher time surviving than the men. The white men got jobs faster than the african americans. The african americans were the first fired and the last hired.

The Great Depression started in 1929 and lasted up until 1939. It happens to be the worst economic downturn for the United States and the the rest of the world. It caused companies and corporations to eventually go bankrupt as well as workers to be laid off. Another effect of The Great Depression is that factory production was reduced, and the banks started to shut down. In the lowest point of The Great Depression in 1933 nearly 15 million workers in America were unemployed and one half of the banks started shutting down.

The Great Depression transformed American society and the way people thought about themselves and their relationship to the country. During this horrendous time period, many people lost many important pieces in their lives like money and jobs. Millions of families lost their savings as many banks collapsed in the early 1930s. They were unable to make rent payments or mortgage and many were removed from their apartments. The Great Depression challenged American families in vital ways, placing great economic demands upon families and their members.

The Great Depression affected many Americans; Many bank failures and debt lead to the disastrous economy of the US and the globe. This was also a time of extreme prejudice, especially for black americans. People of colour were drastically punished in comparison to the white population during the Great Depression.

Then the depression reached the outsides of the cities and then the rural parts of the country. The wheat prices drop extremely. Then because of the poor farm practices from the many different plows used the Dust Bowl started. The Dust Bowl made it harder for farmers to survive in the Great Depression.

As people became unemployed, the economy suffered because these workers were unable to purchase things. For example, Document 4 shows that at the beginning of 1933, the US employment percentage was above a quarter of the population, and from 1931 to 1940 the unemployment percentage was in the double digits. These large unemployment percentages had a devastating effect on companies who were trying to sell their products to consumers who are always a major driver of the economy. Many americans were affected by the crash because they depended on the stock market. The banks suddenly started to fail also, after the stock market crashed. Some banks started to shut down. The industrial production dropped by half. The farmers could not sell any crops because the prices had to increase. In 1930, the first banking panics began. President Hoover wanted support the falling industry and banks. He tried hard to make loans and help the country. The crash of the stock market was only the beginning of the great depression. Banks were forced to closed, causing clients to lose money and income, making them have a hard time. They had to figure out how to keep up with their incomes and wages. How to help out their family. They lost their jobs and that made it difficult for them to pay their needs. While the jobs became more scarce, unemployment was abundant. The great depression also cause other types of people to become unemployed.

After researching The Great Depression, I came to find that one of the causes was that people purchased less products because money was becoming scarce. So with people not purchasing the merchandise that is on the market they held back on making the product, which lead to them firing people because the lack of demand. There became a large amount of unemployment in America reaching about 25% unemployment at the depths of the depression to about 11% by the late 1930s. America was still depressed until World War 2 came around.

The Great Depression caused a deafening blow in the economy of America as people raced to the banks to withdraw their money many banks went bankrupt and had to close down their doors. The people soon were out of money and with no money the consummation of products decreased, as companies had less people
