Critics Review The author for this book Ungifted is made by Gordon Korman. I would recommend this book for a lot of people who want a little more excitement and a little drama. I think this book would also be a good book for people who don’t have the best reading skills because no parts really did confuse me. The main character Donovan Curtis didn’t relate to anyone that I knew because nobody that I know gets in trouble for doing very big stuff. For example it says in the book before he knocked down the globe he started talking into the speakers during a basketball game and the whole school heard it.One of the best moments in the book was when Donovan got caught for his act, and the robotics team lost their driver in order to win the competition.
This book is about how this kid named Donovan Curtis who knocked down a humongous globe, destroys a school gym, and goes into a school for the GT students. But he does get caught by the superintendent of the district, Dr. Schultz. But luckily Dr. Schultz had to go do something. That's when Donovan made a run for it.

The feeling of hope can pull us out of the darkest times and give us a sense of light at the end of a dark tunnel. In 2010 a magnitude 7 earthquake devastated Haiti's capital and surrounding towns and effecting an estimated three million people. The hardships the Haitian people have faced have had lasting effects on the current generations and it is likely to affect future generations. Haiti was founded on slavery, discrimination, and oppression. These hardships are shown throughout every chapter of the novel Krik?
The book, The Sixth Man, is a memoir that tells the story of Andre Iguodala from his childhood in Springfield, Illinois to his final years playing in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Iguodala opens his book in his hometown of Springfield, Illinois and gives an insight on the demographics of Springfield, which has a population of 115,000 with only 20,000 of those people being black. Shortly after introducing us to how Springfield was not officially segregated but it felt so, how it felt like black people had their own world, and within that world their own community, we are introduced to who Iguodala is. While growing up, he showed characteristics of keeping his head down and staying to himself, but also displayed a high competitiveness and energy especially when it came to sports and school.
The only way humans can interact with each other is by communicating. Communicating is getting a message across to someone else, however Neil Postman who wrote Amusing Ourselves to Death points out that there are many different ways this can be done. How content is presented regulates how it comes across and therefore how we react to it. There are many different ways messages can be sent, it could be through speech, gestures, writing, TV, or the newspaper. However, all these forms of communication that people utilize currently haven’t always existed. What our culture is like largely depends on what kind of form communication takes regulating how our brains think about oncoming details. The way the message is sent helps the reader to interpret
How Lunchbox Jones Saved Me From Robots, Traitors, and Missy the Cruel is one of the best books you can read this year. Jennifer Brown has done it again with another middle school classic. It has a diverse cast of characters, all with great personalities. Join the adventures of Luke Abbott, and his journey through the Forest Shade Middle School robotics team. With such lovable characters, and a compelling story it will be sure to get your emotions stirring. With great reviews like a 5/5 stars from Barnes and Nobles, this is certainly a book you won't want to
The narrator for the seventh man should forgive himself for not being able to save K because he did everything he could do to try to save him but he would not listen. In the story the seventh man a huge typhoon strikes the beach with a big boom while the narrator and his friend K were investigating the previous damage from the past wind and rain. The narrator heard the big booms and tried to warn his friend K but he just couldn't K was too interested in whatever he was looking at that he did not hear the yelling or the loud booms.
Someone once said; “When we acknowledge the value in every human life and witness such, we thrive and succeed and protect one another”. The value in life is a prospect that should not be suppressed, even in times of hardship. Conveying this message through literary elements can be tough at times, consequently leaving the message unclear. Neal Shusterman’s “Unwind” demonstrates the opposite and conveys the theme thoroughly, leaving no room for uncertainty. His characters, one of the most important elements of an amazing story, all adapt realistically to a situation where the safety of their life comes first. Additionally, the conflict in “Unwind” is a central point of interest and engages the reader in the motives behind the battle faced by the characters. Finally, the narrative perspective further expresses a sense of meaningfulness when dealing with the topic of life significance. Evidently, Shusterman emphasizes the worth in human life through his character development, the conflicts and the theme.
Ethan Sumner is a middle school student who lives a normal life as a teen, he plays sports and is very involved in academic activity. His willingness to do well inside and outside of school will lead him to his life goal of having a job. Fred Korematsu is a WW2 civil rights activist who worked hard to make a living in America and spent years fighting against the U.S government for other American’s of his ethnicity. His lifetime goal was finding justice for Japanese-Americans. The pair may be very different in their ambitions for life, but the two surprisingly share the traits of being outspoken and lifestyle.
The two elements of friction that I pick are setting and character. The setting of a book really helps the readers get engaged into the story. The setting of a story refers to the geographical location, time period, and social environment. The story of the novel “Unwind” by Neal Shusterman is happened after the Second Civil War. By that time, parents are allowed to sign a unwind order for their children. Those who are unwound will be sent to a place called the harvest camps. The same situation can also happen to babies. Parents who are unable to raise their babies to age thirteen for retroactive abortion have the option to "stork" babies by leaving them on another family's porch. If parents do not get caught, the "storked" babies then become
