The retail industry is saturated with substitutes, in part to low entry barriers. Online shopping and small boutiques stocking similar lines, brand names and designs provide David Jones potential customers with many substitutes. It is the David Jones experience that cannot be substituted; shopping in a large, upmarket department store. For the sector, substitutes are low.
Going from housewares to clothing, not to mention jewelry and furniture, customers are spoiled by choice. Shoppers always enjoy the fact that they could find everything they want in the same store, saving them unnecessary walks and the stress of not having what they shop for. For example, customers shopping for newborn items will find everything about baby at Macy’s: crib, car seat, baby clothes, baby bottles, and so one. No need to look around; the store is always furnished. Many people like Macy’s for the standard and durability of its products. For example, the perfume bought at Macy’s will definitely last longer than the one bought at any common store, because of its good quality. Macy’s only sales products of renown brands like Calvin Klein, Adidas, and Louis Vuitton. Then, the style and elegance of clothes, dresses or suits bought at this store strengthen this idea of quality of products. Clothes say a lot about someone’s personality, and people should be proud of what they wear, so wearing Macy’s clothes is a personal statement. Macy’s knows how to meet its customers’ expectations by providing what they really like, want, and appreciate. In addition, shoppers choose this store for the perfect harmony between

Smith, Morgan. “School Choice and Vouchers.” The Texas Tribune. N.p. 1 June 2015. Web. 8
When people think of Texas many might think of a rich and flourishing economy. With that thriving economy in mind, people may associate a great over all public school system in place. Unfortunately for Texans this not the case. In a 2016 report Texas ranks 43rd among the other states national k-12 education rankings (Fechter 2016). The determination of the ranking included 3 variables, chance for success, school finance, and K-12 achievement (Fechter 2016). The news is worse for the Corpus Christi Independent School District. According to Murphy & Daniel (2015), CCISD fell below nearly every statewide standard when it comes to academics. It is understandable that parents might feel that their child may
The article “The Wrong Ruling on Vouchers” argues that continuing Cleveland’s controversial voucher program is a “bad decision on Constitutional grounds, and a bad one for American education” (Unknown 2002 NP).
A voice, a choice? Makes great sense, were it not for the more than a dozen
Thank you for your response. Yes, I do agree that when it comes to these vouchers, both parent and child should have a meeting with the school they want to leave as well as the school they want their child to attend. The teachers and school are more in the position to point out things that both the student needs and can acheive. The main focus should be on the best possible education for the child, that should be the only deciding factor. Best wishes to you and God bless.
When customers walk into the store, they first try to adjust themselves according to the surroundings of the store. It is very important to get the customers attention.By viewing the setup and location of the store in relation to the shopping, Paco
There is a discussion about whether states should be allowed to give school voucher programs to give money to students to cover private school tuition. I personally do not believe the states should be allowed to give such money for that purpose. I see that people feel that there should be equal opportunity for all students to receive a quality education, but I believe that the money could be used elsewhere. The states help students get a good education by the public school system. The tuition programs to pay for some students’ tuition to go to private schools, is not necessary. The states could use the money that they would use to fund that program to help better the public school system. The public school system should be more of a priority than giving school vouchers, as the public school system is poorly funded.
Please go certify your San Antonio, TX and Chicago, Il voucher again as I had to separate the taxi cab costs because their over $75.00 and have no receipt. As well, this will go to Helena Bonner for final approval since she is now the AO assigned to GMB. Thanks in advance and if you could do this today, it would be greatly
DeVos is grossly unqualified to be Education Secretary given that she has never run, taught in, or sent her children to an American public school. Furthermore she has no prior experience in the bureaucracy and has used her wealth and power to endorse politicians that would push for her agenda of taxpayer-funded vouchers for religious schools without discretion and oversight. Simply just another billionaire installed in Trump's cabinet of other billionaires. DeVos also advocates for school choice and charter schools funded by taxpayer dollars which allows for parents (particularly in more disadvantaged school districts) to send their children to private school instead of the public school. While at first glance this may sound like a good idea, Trump's plan for a $20 million dollar federal voucher program has its own complications, namely the source of the funding and state laws prohibiting funding for religious education institutions.
The intensity of rivalry and the threat of substitutes are strong components for J.C. Penney to consider as they continue to strive for increased revenue and market share. Their two primary competitors are Macy’s and Kohl’s, both of whom have fiercely competitive strategies to be strong retail operations. For instance, while Macy’s offers a multitude of promotional deals and is working hard to choose products based upon demographics and geographic segmentation, Kohl’s is attempting to reduce their inventory levels and improve their marketing strategies in order to become a stronger competitor in the department store segment of the retail industry. In order to compete with their competitors, J.C. Penney aims to focus on their previously successful promotions and home department segmentations by bringing in new reputable designers in order to attract a larger customer base. Due to the fact that the intensity of rivalry and threat of substitutes are both moderately strong in the retail department store industry, J.C. Penney ought to be diligent in their implementation of strategies in order to achieve success in the retail business.
The Bon Marché is a well-researched, well-drafted, and well-organized book of whose argumentation is linear and sequential. The book would excite business historians with the ideas of merchandising
