After doing the survey, I have realised that many parties share similar ideals and not one party will be able to accommodate all the ideals of a single person, making it that there is not one party which can fully be the one true leader of a country. For instance, one may share views with one party on healthcare but another on issues facing education and security. This shows us that no party

The Liberals have a strong belief in vaccination in order to protect citizens from preventable diseases (such as measles). They also support the legalization of marijuana as well as the process of abortion, as well as having prescription drugs be covered by the universal healthcare system of Canada. The liberals believe in free choice in healthcare and support abortions as well as euthanasia. https://www.liberal.ca/policy.../123-priority-resolution-health-care/ The green party believes that people have the right to do what they want with their own bodies. They believe in safe and legal abortions as well as euthanasia.
The Green party believes in making healthcare more readily available for citizens and plan to increase the number of people that can be cared for in long term care in order to increase the amount of people that can be helped with the universal health care system of Canada. http://www.ontheissues.org/Celeb/Green_Party_Abortion.htm Education OR Topic of Your Choice* 4 marks

Liberals believe that education should be seen as a form of empowerment rather than as something that is done to the learner, and be regarded as an on going entitlement, with access not restricted by age. They believe that the introduction of management training programmes for teachers and governors, sourced at local level to enable schools to choose courses appropriate to their particular needs is an important step to provide education for all levels. To increase post-secondary level education, the restoration of student grants to a basic “living wage” level, more access courses for those who lack the standard entry qualifications, and a two year training allowance and entitlement should accompany young people entering employment at the age of 16, 17 or 18 years in order to help increase education as well as accommodate the needs of
Remember when the liberals promised to the additional medical services that never happened? Did you know that there are still only 27 doctors/100,000 people in Nunavut? This is clearly not enough and since we know that, we will send more physician! You see?Justin Trudeau and the liberals don't get it or know how it feels because they aren't in the same case but we are different and we will make an actual change.
Tom Mulcair is also running to become Canada's new Prime Minister and he is with the New Democratic Party (NDP). On Thomas Mulcair's platform plank he talks about how he wants to improve public health care, make quality childcare affordable, protect the environment, to create and protect good jobs, make life more affordable and to build infrastructure. The NDP believe that change is a good thing when it comes to the government. Also, they are big believers in intellectual equality and economic equality. Although they are big believers in equality, they still do believe in intellectual freedom and economic freedom, but just not as much as equality. The NDP are promising taxation for the benefit of everyone.
Why the Liberal Party Would Get my Vote The Liberal Party of Canada believes that the dignity of each individual man and woman is the fundamental principle of democratic society. The Liberal Party of Canada recognizes human dignity and provides equality of opportunity for all persons. The Liberal party's ideology is that every individual is able to keep their beliefs, values, religion, and traditions which is the enhancement of a unique and diverse community.
If the New Democratic Party gains power, they are going to make the health care in Canada better for citizens. Health care is definitely a very important factor in keeping everyone in Canada happy and healthy. Without healthcare, we will get sick more frequently, and not going to regular checkups will make diseases more likely to affect us negatively. The NDP is proposing to end the fees for ambulance services. This will make people more likely to call an ambulance instead of taking a chance of driving themselves. This could save lives because ambulances are much faster than driving yourself in a car because people are required by law to move out of the way of an incoming ambulance on the road. The NDP is saying to give seniors the support they need to live in their own homes instead of being forced to move to an old age home when they get to old to care for themselves or when loved ones and family can no longer care for them. If they get support in their homes, they will not need to go through the stress of moving to a different environment in their late age. If they reduce their stress to as little as possible, they will be more prone to a longer life span. The NDP is promising a fifty percent increase in the number of doctors and nurses being trained each year, so that there is more available in hospitals and emergency
The Four Political Parties of Canada In a country as vast and as culturally diverse as Canada, many different political opinions can be found stretched across the country. From the affluent neighbourhoods of West Vancouver to the small fishing towns located on the east coast of Newfoundland, political opinions and affiliations range from the left wing to the right wing. To represent these varying political views, Canada has four official national political parties to choose from: the Liberals (who are currently in power), the Progressive Conservatives, the New Democrats, and the Reform Party. What is particularly interesting is that none of the latter three parties compose Her Majesty's Official Opposition in the House
The Green Parties primary goal is to help state parties, but they’re committed to many other things to help better the environment for the people. They’re committed to environmental wisdom, peace, social justice, and grassroots organizing. They care a lot about the environment and economy because they both affect the citizens in a variety of ways; the people are their main priority. The Green Party is democratic so all their focus goes straight for the good of the public, every decision, every donation because they receive donations from big corporations, and all their time. For example, if the issue is Universal healthcare, all of their time will go into fulfilling and solving that issue. They’re not as popular as other political parties but they do get the word out there and people follow. They believe that the political system is broken and that’s what grabs the public attention, because a lot of people know that huge corporations like the Koch brothers for example, control part of the government with their money so they can do whatever they please and dump a bunch of waste into our shores. The Green Party wants to attack and straighten that problem, so the top 1% can’t pull things like that. Real leadership is in this party, and that’s what the people like.
The 2015 Canadian election was one of great importance that showcased a changing of guard in the Canadian political context. Key issues in this election were; Bill c-21, multiculturalism, the refugee crisis, Marijuana legislation, war on terror and ISIS, and environmental policies. Although these are all pinnacle matters, one of the most pressing issue was economic policies. Economics policy is what is commonly seen as the commons man’s issues and what might win most people over in an election cycle. Justin Trudeau and Stephen harper were the campaigns largest attractions Harper representing the fiscal conservatives and Trudeau representing the big deficit spending policies of the Liberals, with largely different economic views that would
The political process in Canada meets the needs of all Canadians when Canadians elect people who represent us the Government. However not all of our voice is being heard, because not all Canadian citizens is going out to vote. Since Canada’s electoral process is First-Pass The Post, not all of Canadian voice is being heard because a riding can win by one. Because of this people don’t show up to vote since they feel like their voice isn’t being heard. Nevertheless if our electoral process is First-Pass The Post, the people will be willing to vote since all of their voices would be heard. This is how we can improve so that everyone in Canada gets the voice heard.
There are many different political parties in Canada with varied beliefs and goals. The party that I most closely align with is the New Democratic Party. It is on the far left side of the political parties, so it is the most liberal of the parties. This party would like to increase taxes for large corporations and the wealthy, which will help the working class. Having more proportional taxation with income will help taxes be “fairer”. Furthermore, the NDP wants to spend more money on health care, by having more coverage with medicine, treatment, etc. I think free health care is very important because it allows everyone to be treated if they are sick. By improving health care as a whole, Canadians can have a better quality of life and an increased
The Green Party believes that they are the exact opposite of UKIP and think that they are a better fit for the society of the UK. It is noted that many of those who vote for UKIP are working class citizens while those who vote for the Green party are students. While the Green party is currently towards the bottom of the poles, the party is becoming a threat to other political parties. As UKIP rises, so will the Green party due to the nature of its voters.
Altering the electoral system would undoubtedly benefit Canada in numerous ways through the use of a mixed electoral system using proportional representation and alternative voting. Over the course of Canada’s history, debate over electoral reform has appeared occasionally, with varying levels of intensity (Courtney 2005:154). Regardless, the amount of times that the topic has been discussed, demonstrates the need for its consideration. The word “change” often promotes a negative connotation, suggesting decreases in quality of government. However, it is important for one to focus on not “changing” the system, but rather improving it. This can be done through different voting methods such as proportional representation or alternative voting. Of course, there are disadvantages that could arise from electoral reform, especially in the case of either suggested systems. However, the vast advantages ultimately outweigh all potential consequences, justifying this action. Conclusively, it is advantageous to undergo electoral reform through a mixed election system of proportional representation and alternative voting, despite arguments opposed to both matters.
Liberal Perspective: For the liberal’s perspective they believe in equal opportunity and equal rights for everyone. Liberals are mainly democratic, which is why some of the things that democrats believe, they believe as well, mainly because both of those parties think the system should help more. For example, when it comes to homelessness from both a democratic and liberal stand view you can see that they both are in the interest of helping them. However, in a liberal’s eye, they believe that social issues happen because there should be more help from the system as far as funding goes.
Throughout history political parties have been crucial and fundamental to Canadian politics. Political parties have many significant functions within society. Specifically they select candidates, mobilize voters; facilitate governance and implement policies and legislature. The article The contours of Political Party Membership in Canada, written by William Cross and Lisa Young with the assistance of the study of Canadian Political Party Members exhibits who belongs to a Canadian political party and what they do, by analyzing these qualities the authors come to the conclusion that many Canadians don’t participate within parties, which in turn leads to Canadians to have feelings of discomfort and voters apathy towards political parties (2004).
In 1971 when the Conservatives ended the Socred hold on power, the Conservative Party succeeded by “neutralizing ideology and focusing on ‘safe change,’ that is, a change of faces but not policies.” The 1971 election brought into office the Progressive Conservative Party under the leadership of Peter Lougheed; Lougheed than served as premier until 1985, when he was replaced by Don Getty. In 1986 general election, Alberta PC win the election with 61 seats, NDP getting 16 seats, liberal getting 4 seats in the Legislative Assembly of Alberta and Alberta PC also win 1989 general election of Alberta. Getty’s decision to resign in 1992 “ushered in the leadership election that provides the point of departure.” Alberta’s electoral history
A federal election occurs every five years in Canada. In fact, this year the election will be taking place on Monday October 19th 2015. A federal election is held to determine the new prime minister of our country. Currently the prime minister of Canada is Stephen Harper. However, his five years are up, therefore he must compete with other candidates if he wants to keep his position. There are six parties in this election, but the most prominent ones are Conservatives which are represented by Stephen Harper, Liberals which are represented by Justin Trudeau and Tom Mulcair who is representing NDP. Each party is also identified with a specific colour. For example, the Conservatives are identified as the colour blue because it is a colour associated
