United States Environmental Policy

-The EPA is all about helping and protecting nature and our selves, they have passed many laws to keep us safe. Some of these laws include: C.A.A., or the Clean Air Act. This is a Federal law they passed to make sure we’re not releasing too much emission into the air, or releasing really bad things. Another law they have passed is the C.W.A., or Clean Water Act, this is also a Federal law, it protects our water systems from getting infested with pollution and toxic chemicals, without this we could lose our fishing

The environmental protection agency has been stepping up its mandate of ensuring safer and better environment for not only the business operators, buts also the society as a whole. In order to achieve this goal of environmental protection, there has been the creation of environmental protection agency that has ensured that all the businesses, irrespective of their size and type, strive to ensure that the environment is protected for the benefit of current and future generations.

The Toxic Substance Control Act was enacted to protect both humans and the environment from the effects of toxic or harmful chemicals. The Environmental Protection Agency was placed in charge of this act, and has since been enforcing and amending it. The EPA is permitted to define testing requirements for all chemicals, and can also restrict the manufacture and sale of any particularly hazardous chemicals. In addition, all imports and exports of these chemicals must be recorded at every step along the journey to ensure that regulations

Rhode Island was discovered by Roger Williams in 1636, Williams bought land from the Natives and named it Providence.. On the way of building establishing Portsmouth he found and women named Anne Hutchinson she helped vest in Portsmouth. In 1647 other colonies or settlements came together to entrench Rhode Island. As Rhode Island became more advanced it became the World’s Largest Slave Trade Center, at one point it was so bad that other colonies gave them a nickname “the sewer of New England”. But Rhode Island made there own nickname of “Rogues’ Island” and their founder (Roger Williams) was banned from Massachusetts beliefs.

Two major laws that are regulated by the EPA are the Clear Air Act and the Clean Water Act. These laws, passed by Congress, give the EPA the authority to write regulations. The Clean Air Act regulates emissions of hazardous substances into the air. The set the air emissions standards in which businesses must abide by or face penalties. The Clean Water Act restricts the release of pollutants into water. The goal of both of these laws is to protect the public and provide clean drinking water and sustainable habitats for marine life. The EPA also regulates many other environmental health concerns. They regulate hazardous substances such as asbestos, lead, and mold. They also have a large role in tackling major environment

In the 1970’s there was growing confusion regarding environmental policy due to certain states creating environmental protection laws which were largely ineffective. To ease confusion, fix national guidelines, and monitor and enforce them President Richard Nixon created the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The EPA functions under three federal departments: the Interior, Agriculture, and Health, Education and Welfare departments. The original role of the EPA was to administrate the Clean Air Act which was enacted to reduce the air pollution caused by vehicles and industry. The EPA deals with a lot of pollution regulations in regards to automobile emissions, nuclear materials, and harmful substances in products. They make sure that these regulations are based on the most recent scientific research and attempt to implement them fairly (US Environmental, 2015). This agency not only creates and sets these standards, but works with companies and states to help the federal standards be met, whether the aid is in knowledge of new technologies, money, or innovative ideas.

Federal agencies were each created to oversee a specific area or aspect of the governments responsibility to its citizens; therefore, each agency had a different job and goal that they must aspire to reach for the sake of the United Sates government and its people. The Environmental Protection Agency was put in place due to the peoples needs to have a safe and healthy environment to live in for this generation and future generations. The jobs of the EPA are essential to everyday life and the future of the United States.

For years, the government has been regulating citizens and subsidizing companies that they like. Each time they restrict or support a company, they hurt the free market, which then hurts the economy and like a Rube Goldberg machine the entire country is affected. Should we keep the Environmental Protection Agency? The EPA is the environmental protection agency and they deal with keeping the environment clean and they enforce the laws to keep it clean. President Richard Nixon made the decision to create the Environmental Protection Agency in 1970 because of the ineffectiveness of environmental protection laws, The Environmental Protection Agency was to monitor and enforce laws to protect the environment. Setting exposure limits for chemicals in the early 1970’s was a struggle until the courts decided that the EPA had the authority to set the standards after a two-year battle. The agency has developed Toxic Substance Control Act, that helps protect workers by performing test on chemicals that re either manufactured here in the United States, or chemicals that are imported from other countries that industries

There are 10 regional offices of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) throughout the USA. The mission of the EPA is to protect human health and the environment. In addition to the regional offices, there are many labs across the USA that studies solutions to possible environmental issues. Once these solutions come into place they are brought to attention of both local and worldwide public administrators.

The EPA has the responsibility of keeping the American people's food pure and their health up to par. By the year 2020, the Environmental Protection Agency will have prevented over 230,000 premature deaths since 1990. The EPA provides many benefits for the everyday person that people usually do not recognize or just take for granted. For instance, thank the EPA for the clean water flowing into the sink and the disease free meat at the grocery store. Recently the White house decided to slash EPA funding by 31%. The EPA provides many benefits to be cutting their funding by such an amount. Not just to humans, but to the wildlife all around the country. It is likely that many species would have been extinct or endangered by know without the protection

The law that I was given is The National Environmental Policy Act or NEPA. The National Environmental Policy Act is one of the first laws written that has the protection of the environment as its focus. The law was enacted on January 1, 1970 and was signed by president Richard Nixon.
