Many faces have been denied healthcare in past years. The government no longer offered enough benefits, and the amount of restrictions was off the charts. The Affordable Care Act has improved so much, and yet, so many individuals want it repealed. The Affordable Care Act should not be repealed, but expanded. Universal healthcare should be available to all, and citizens with unknown illnesses, or in rehabilitation without progress, should not be forced out of hospital and/or into nursing homes. The Affordable Care Act has benefitted many patients. It has changed their lives, and their children’s lives for the better. There are a multitude of benefits offered now because of the ACA. For example, it has lowered costs by offering free preventive care, prescription discounts for seniors, protection against healthcare fraud, and small business credits (5-NP). One example of denial due to lack of coverage is Dr. Prem Reddy, who believe people deserve the amount of healthcare they can afford. Dr. Prem Reddy owns eight hospitals, but he also owns a 15,000 foot mansion with gold plated toilets, along with a second home valued at over $9,000,000 and a helicopter worth $1,400,000 (9-156). The secret behind his massive fortune? He doesn’t make deals with insurance companies, he has dropped a chemotherapy center, and birthing center and mental healthcare as insufficiently profitable. The main thing is that he does not treat uninsured patients. No one who comes into his hospitals without coverage is treated. That rules out babies and young children, and a majority of the elderly.
