Western is a fairly affordable school with an in state tuition of $11,267 and out of state tuition is 15,515 dollars. Room and board at WIU is $9,830 which is fairly cheap compared to other colleges. Other fees include internet which can be purchased for $20-30 and laundry costs which is a mere $1.25 to wash and $1.00 to dry your clothes(Western Illinois University).

Last, college is Alfred State College. There are four main pros about Alfred. First pro, is they offer $4.1 million in various. This is useful because I could get money to pay my load. Appalachian State University was founded by the Dougherty brothers in 1899 but was originally known as the Watauga College. Appalachian was originally a teachers college to create new teachers for the ‘lost province’ of Boone North Carolina. The Watauga College created a multitude of new teachers to better the education of those in the surrounding area. Appalachian State University is now known to put out some of the best teachers in the country.

Transportation and personal expenses are the same for out of state students and in state students. The United States of America often forgets that historically black colleges and universities were created out of necessity. It has only been a couple of decades since African Americans have been allowed to get degrees from predominantly white institutions. Millions of African Americans have given their blood, sweat, and tears in hopes of gaining basic rights like education to their descendants. America has come a long way within the past fifty years but there is still a disconnect when it comes to believing what the average African American can accomplish as an individual. The purpose of this proposal is to examine current and future Iowa State University admissions decisions processes. At the present time most colleges, including Iowa State use a combination of standardized test scores, high school class rank, high school grade point average, and essays to make decisions on admissions. All of the above are good determinants of a student’s possible success in college, except standardized test scores. Standardized tests discriminate against minorities and are not a good overall indicator of a student’s potential. For these reasons and others, Iowa State should not use standardized test scores when making admissions

During the 1995-1996 academic years, 66% of four year students in public institutions received some form of financial aid (Losco). Although the financial aid sounds like a good plan at the time, it causes the ones who take aid to being their adulthood in a large amount of debt. Even though there are a number of scholarships and financial aid programs available, each student must qualify and meet certain requirements that are not always met.

Most colleges bundle their prices in terms of tuition and fees. In 1995, tuition for private colleges was around 14k, for Public out of state it was around 7k and for public in state it was around 2k. (usnews). According to the College Board, the current average cost of tuition and fees for the 2015–2016 school year was $32,405 at private colleges, $9,410 for state residents at public colleges, and $23,893 for out-of-state residents attending public universities. Tuition reflects the overall cost of a college providing instruction and usually incorporates a college 's costs for staff, faculty, grounds maintenance, buildings, computer systems, and libraries (Dominique).

The first thing I did when I was deciding where to go, I made a pros and cons list of the reasons I should go. After making the list I read over everything I wrote and looked which one was longer. If the pros list was longer than the cons list it meant I should transfer but if it was opposite than it meant I should stay.
