I think that, after season 1, every character had a little fan base. Their traits were established, we could see why and how they worked as a whole and their roles were pretty clear. Yet, season 2 changed things, and while change can be good or bad. I’m not really sure it was positive in this case. Unnecessary characters While I’ve really come to appreciate Shannon Kook, who plays Theo, and Nicole Stamp, who plays Mel; I can’t help but feeling that their characters hadn’t bring much to the table. Yes, it’s nice viewing Vordenberg’s minions, even seeing them as a little army; but the truth is that as far a storytelling goes, we could have someone else naming them in passing and there wouldn’t be a difference. That’s why their personalities were delimited and we knew what they wanted. The problem with season 2 is that characters have been the same, haven’t reacted as expected or simply we have not seen them grow as expected. Have we seen more flaws? Yes, and they were expected. One of the greatest things about characterization during season one was that, as viewers, we knew the characters were not perfect, and that was what made them endearing. But what happened with season 2? Let’s see... Perry: Perry found the dead bodies of the kids from the school paper, she had a strange message written in latin carved in her stomach, she has been weird and no explanation so far. Kirsch: Kirsch went through a lot last season, his girlfriend was murdered, his best friend turned out to be a vampire, he was kidnapped and almost died, yet he’s still the same dumb frat boy from last season, we didn’t see his reaction to seeing J.P in Will’s body and he hasn’t mentioned anything about last season. Danny: Danny seems to still be hung up on Laura, she still has a hero complex, which sadly has been furthered by Laura and the circumstances. Did she learn anything from last season?
