Yes, I believe changing Superior's time off policies will decrease the unscheduled time off. For one, the employees will have plenty of time to plan their vacation time ahead. At the present time, Superior offer employees 7 vacation days a year, which has to be scheduled at the beginning of the year. With the new PTO policy, this would allow them more flexibility. According to (Sloan, 2000), some employers have an annual "use it or lose" policy. Other employers pay employees at the end of the calendar year for any unused paid time off. However, be aware that your employer is not legally required to offer paid vacation time and can set vacation policy any way it chooses.
