What I Learned In A College Education

It is worth the effort to obtain a degree, and this is due to the increasing wages that come with a degree, the lowering of unemployment rates, and having a degree is a requirement for many jobs. In Document A, “Earning and Unemployment Rates Based on Educational Attainment, 2015” compiled by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, a higher educational degree, such as a Doctorate or Professional degree, corresponded to a lower unemployment rate with a higher pay, while little to no educational degree corresponded to a higher unemployment rate with a lower pay. I graduated from NHTI with my associates degree in Business Administration in December of 2016. After taking this past semester off to work and build my bank account, I am now looking to further my education by earning at least a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Transferring to a new school will be a great opportunity to build life skills, meet new people, and advance my education at a school that will help me reach my career goals.

The benefits of a college degree are not just for money, but also a college degree will also give a person more career options. A person with a college degree will have more career options than someone without a college degree because employers will see that one has a college degree and think that person knows what to do and can do the job well. In a survey that was casted to see what employers look for, those employers said that they wanted people that have dependability, reliability, a good attitude, the ability to read comfortably, the ability to think more consciously, computer skills, and the ability to communicate clearly whether it be spoken or in writing (Knowledge and…). Along the path of getting a college degree, one will also learn these skills and attributes.

Things that I enjoy been in AdVENTURE are having tons of fun projects and experiments. I enjoy making games in my elective class because I love coding and being creative. I love doing the projects that my teachers have given to me. For example, I enjoy working on our genetics project which is a project where we get to make our own superhero and stories. Using our superhero’s genes, we can predict what their children’s genes can be. This is what I enjoy been an AdVENTURE student.

College Education is very important today. There is a lot of perspectives on what values for a student and their college education. Having a college education can get you somewhere in your career path. Some students go to get a higher education to get into the right path and get better for their future career. There is one value that can influence a college career and that would be the students attitude.

If I am going to be honest, I would have to say that attending college has not changed life for me as much as I had originally expected it to. I have learned so much in this class to prepare me for a successful college experience. There were some topics that caught my attention more than others. Such as, time and stress management, University resources, and critical thinking.

Something that I wanted to learn from this course is to have better skills on how to pick a career path or paths that would best be suited for me. When it comes to deciding on a career, I have always looked at the big picture and forget about looking at the small details. I feel like this course did help prepare me for the future and I will definitely look back at the notes I took and the papers I wrote.
