What is a social institutions? Social institutions can be described as complex systems that comprise the structure of a society. While providing order to the society, they are also restricting as change must be maneuvered within the existing institutions. The structure of relationships caused by social institutions limits and determines the existence of individuals and peoples in their society (Social Institutions). Norms are established, though not always explicitly, through certain practices of behavior which in turn contribute to the existence of said institutions. What is a social norm? As it stands, the Democratic party believes abortion is the woman’s right to chose, and abortions should be covered by health insurance. Liberals have rationalized that the life of fetuses, when not viable, should be allowed to be ended because a woman’s rights should not be determined by the patriarchy. Liberals believe wholeheartedly they are morally correct because protecting the lives of women is more important than of fetuses. Additionally, they claim that conservative women who oppose abortions have been convinced that it is evil to do so by Christian Patriarchal society and thus they are submitting themselves to the rule of others just as women have done throughout history. It is seen as a feminist issue to support abortion and non-feminist to oppose, consequently, those who oppose are seen as anti-feminist and thus are hateful of women. This idea, however, is faulty because if conservatives really believed that babies were being killed then they would under no circumstances allow them to be killed because if they did it would be sinful and morally wrong. However, those who honestly believe that abortion murders babies and who do not do anything to stop it are really in the wrong, whereas, those who honestly believe women’s rights are being taken away are morally wrong by not doing anything about it. This seems fair to be intolerant
