People that I encounter on a daily basis during my work hours are different from night and day. Some, may threaten to shoot you while, others would offer you a cold drink! You see, I work as a Revenue Protection Investigator, I investigate alleged Utility Theft, and actual Utility Theft. I’ve been doing this investigating work for over 20 years now; I got to see the good side in people, but I also got to see the bad side. You have to be able recognizing the different personalities you encounter each day. I may be assigned to million dollars sub-divisions, or high crime neighborhoods. Regardless, where you’re assigned too, to my audience keeps changing. Since, I worked alone which brings a certain amount of risk. You have to change your vocabulary
Though most of us feel as if we are treated equal.. We arent. People discriminate others based on their race, sex, and appearance. In “What Would You Do, Bike Thief” they had two male actors of different color, and an attractive women. When the white man tried “stealing” the bike, nobody seems to care. Though, when a colored man tried “stealing” the bike people had gotten on to him within seconds. “Justice is colorblind.” is a quote from the segment that I don't necessarily agree with. Society is very hard on those whom are different.. They didn't care that the white guy was stealing the bike, but when the colored guy was stealing it, those around acted as if it was the end of the world. Which does not make sense to me. Later, the
On 10/28/15 I contacted Robert Woller by telephone in reference to a theft call. Mr. Woller said sometime over the past two months he has had two watches go missing from his residence at 1916 Roderweis; one a man's gold and stainless Rolex Submariner with a blue face valued at $9500 the other a man's stainless steel Tag Heuer valued at $1000. Mr. Woller said over this time period he has had different contract workers at his residence working on various things. Mr. Woller said he has found nothing else missing and no evidence of forcible entry. Mr. Woller also stated that no one other than him has access to the residence. Mr. Woller could only provide a serial number for the Rolex, # Z860105, which also had the word "Kia" inscribed
The psychologist contributes to investigations criminal behavior by profiling and similar techniques. The criminal psychologist can also assist with pretrial methods. This subsection is highly important because it includes the evaluation and treatment of suspects, victims, or witnesses of a crime. The primary task of the forensic psychologist profiling. Psychological profiling involves “investigating an offender's behavior, motives and background in an attempt to further guide an investigation…,” (APA). There are several different areas of profiling that the professionals do in the field. In criminal profiling the psychologist analyzes the emotional, mental disposition of a suspect. While remaining as a slightly controversial technique, profiling has become an increasingly prominent part of criminal investigation. When used properly it has the capacity of being one of law enforcement’s most powerful tools.
Disorganized criminals lead to ones who may be young, under the influence, or mentally ill. According to retired FBI agent Gregg McCrary, “The basic premise is that behavior reflects personality.” By using criminal profiling agents can use the behavior of certain criminals to learn more about
The way people reacted to the situation varied from people not caring and just doing their business, to people staring and giving dirty looks, and I had one gentleman wink at me. The people that stared at me either waited until I was done or went into a stall to go. The people
The author of ‘Stealing is wrong’ tries to deal with the issue of stealing is always wrong regardless of people’s morality views. The author’s introduced the reader to several forms of stealing from obvious actions to imperceptible actions. It was said by the intelligent Sherlock Holmes that “It should be your business to know things. To train yourself to see what others overlook.” This quote means that it is an investigators job and no one else’s to observe closer than others. For police related jobs it is very important to be able to come up with possible reasons why someone would want to commit crimes, whether they were under the influence of drugs, mentally ill, or in gangs. This is very crucial for a crisis negotiators job, where they deal with crimes such as standoffs, hostage situations, suicides, kidnappings, and hijackings;
Getting to know someone's personality is always a fun exercise. Initially, I begin with covert observation--naturalistic observation, if you will--of their conversations, activities, and mannerisms. How they interact with others, how they choose to spend their time, and how their demeanor is exhibited gives me clues to who they are. For example, spotting an introvert's chaotic expression at being stuck in a conversation with an extrovert who is oblivious to their desire to run away, and who continues raucously horrifying their conversational partner gives me a glimpse into each person's personality. No matter if they are conversing with another person or sitting silently, there are generally clues into their personality by just watching their
There are many skills & traits that can help a criminal investigator be successful, it doesn’t need to know or possess knowledge of all of them since is to broad, but the most the investigator acquire the best, some of them are as followed:
Historically, crime and criminals have always caught the attention of law-abiding citizens. Whenever there is mention of serial killers or unsolved murders or abductions, psychological profiling, floats to the top of the list of concerns (Egger, 1999). Psychological profiling is an attempt to provide investigators with more information about an offender who has not yet been identified (Egger, 1999). Its purpose is to develop a behavioral composite that combines both sociological and psychological assessment of the would-be offender. The type of person who could have committed the crime can often be identified on the premise that accurate analysis and interpretation of the crime scene can point to a
Still unique to the philosophy of law, criminal profiling has been confirmed of being able to open new doors to the study of the criminal mind. It is very easy to argue the progress of forensic psychology, some people believe that it is not helpful and some people will swear by it. While many people praise the FBI 's Behavioral Sciences Unit with the improvement of criminal profiling, the actual act of getting inside a criminal 's mind began hundreds of years ago. It has not only
Ever since I was little I was extremely observant of the people surrounding me. I would watch and study their behaviors, always trying to figure out their thoughts and emotions. Recently I have realized that I could put my childhood play into a real life paying job, only instead of my peers I would get to study criminals. I don’t know much about Forensic Psychology other than the fact that I must achieve a PsyD, and I would be assigned different cities to live and work in. I want to learn about what is necessary for me to get the job, what the pay is, and what is required of me once I get the position.

With copper prices still high, you find that thieves have targeted copper in every form so that they can sell it to scrapyards for fast cash. You may figure that your church would have other things stolen, but church insurance statistics show that almost half of the theft claims involved copper. For example, Church Mutual found that their customers made 1,523 copper theft claims in 2011, which totaled $10.7 million.
