Talk to your employer about how if you got your degree you would add more value to the company as an employee. The reason for this is that you would have a wider range of skills, but you will also understand your business and industry better after getting your degree. You will also be better positioned to take a leadership role if it is needed. Companies that have employees with a minimum of a four year degree have an edge over companies that have no employees with a degree. Point this out to your boss to help convince them to go in that direction.

The VA is the primary hope for veterans and where there help comes when they need it. Linda Schwartz, the head of Connecticut’s VA says the problem is probably a lot bigger than what the numbers say. “A veteran’s death often does not get reported as a suicide” (Radelat) The problem is huge and daunting to the VA. Schwartz’s VA is proud that her facilities seem to have largely missed the scandal of the VA, and the VA is offering different therapies to widen out the options for the veterans when they go to the VA.
The Department of Veterans Affairs is a government run program to assist the U.S. Veterans who are disabled soldiers. It began when the Pilgrims passed a law that required disabled soldiers to receive benefits from the colony, as early as 1636 (U.S. Dept. of VA, 2014). By 1776, the Continental Congress provided pensions to disabled soldiers during the Revolutionary War. Later, the Veterans assistance program expanded to include benefits and pensions not only for Veterans but also for their widows and dependents. Finally, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) was established in 1865, to form the National Home for Disabled Volunteer Soldiers, an institution

In today’s ever changing job market, having a degree in business or communications will allow our employees to compete in a market that is as tough ever. It will give them the ability to think outside the box, and help keep our company on the cutting edge of thought and financial comparisons to the other top companies in our field. People with these degrees will be able to work in all types of fields; from financial analysts, marketing, human resources, CPA’s, and accountants. All of which are available and expanding positions within our company. I can’t reiterate enough how important it is to hire from within. We would no longer have to hire an outside talent that has no idea what we are trying to achieve and the type of environment we are looking to cultivate. We need to hire an employee from within who can hit the ground running. We need to be known as a place that treats its employees like family, where everyone has a name and is not just a number. Finally, it’s important to see the affect this will have on the bottom line of employee salaries. For, when you bring in new talent, you have to pay them hire salaries on average. As opposed to hiring from within where promoting someone with little experience in that position will be willing to start off at a lesser salary, and will be willing to prove their worth over time given the opportunity. This as a whole goes back to my point of employee appreciation. After all who would want
Attending college or pursuing a higher education is worth it because a degree ensures a stable, well paying job and provides a better quality of life. In Document A, “Earning and Unemployment Rates Based on Educational Attainment, 2015” compiled by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, a higher educational degree, such as a Doctorate or Professional degree, corresponded to a lower unemployment rate with a higher pay, while little to no educational degree corresponded to a higher unemployment rate with a lower pay. This means people who received a college degree had a better chance of finding and retaining a well-paying job because they are typically skilled in one profession that cannot easily be replaced, such as a doctor or engineer.
There are many benefits to obtaining a college degree. Having a college degree is worth the expenses and two or more years put into getting it. A college degree can help with getting a well paying, enjoyable job in the future. Having a well paying, enjoyable job is important in one’s success. Which means that having a degree is important. If you listen to me, and go to college, then you can get your dream job, even if you have to put in a little extra time and
Keeping the employees satisfied was another area that we knew was important to continue to compete in the future. Offering very competitive compensation packages in conjunction with incentive plans and continued training, will keep N-Tech employees motivated and continued employment with the company.
The tuition increases have come in response to the lack of federal funding to universities, leading them to find their own way to provide for their upkeep. “Recent increases in university tuition fees are part of a new entrepreneurial trend in higher education in which institutions are expected to generate more of their own revenue” (Quirke). The universities have decided that since they can no longer look towards federal funds to fuel their costs of maintenance and revenue, they must find a new route towards attaining much needed funds, and they have chosen to
My main purpose in seeking a college degree is to develop a new skill set and to become more marketable to potential employers and my current employer. I have worked for a huge corporation for over 13 years and only feel confident at the level I have been at over the last 7 years. I genuinely need to redefine for myself what the rest of my life is going to consist of. This is the perfect way to gain that perspective. I am also wanting to financially gain more stability and with a degree I will be eligible to post and be considered for positions that earn higher wages. I want to stake my claim in my own self worth as well and truly prove to myself that this is something I am capable of.
“I have written job descriptions. I have written the hiring qualifications for various positions. There have been times that one of the jobs I was hiring for had the qualification of ”Degree required.“ More often than not, this means a four-year degree required. Yes/No. Black/White. It’s a toggle switch. ”Yes“ means the candidate moves to the next pile of potential hires. ”No“ means… well, it means no. No, you don’t have an opportunity to interview for this job.” Wrote The Pros and Cons of Attending College - Is College For Everyone? Website. Writer Tia Ghose, “Is College Worth the Money.” Captured the concept of the employer only too well. “As an employer, here’s what a four-year college degree signifies to me, beyond subject knowledge: You know how to set and achieve long-term goals (i.e. ’graduate from college’).You know how to be a part of a team — not necessarily sports related (there are few college graduates who have not had to work on at least one team project). Often times, you are self-motivating and know how to speak in front of a small group, know how to make a simple presentation and understand the concept of deadlines and consequences for missing those deadlines.” She
The benefits of a college degree are not just for money, but also a college degree will also give a person more career options. A person with a college degree will have more career options than someone without a college degree because employers will see that one has a college degree and think that person knows what to do and can do the job well. Employers want the best person for the job and a college degree looks really good on a person’s resume (Ten Great…). In a survey that was casted to see what employers look for, those employers said that they wanted people that have dependability, reliability, a good attitude, the ability to read comfortably, the ability to think more consciously, computer skills, and the ability to communicate clearly whether it be spoken or in writing (Knowledge and…). Along the path of getting a college degree, one will also learn these skills and attributes.
Gary Marx stated “identifying, monitoring and considering the implications of trends is one of the most basic processes for creating the future” (Stevenson, 2010 p. 1). The world of education is forever changing at a pace that gets more rapid as the years go on. The decisions made in the past have laid the foundation of education today, as will recent changes affect the future. Programs such as choice schooling and No Child Left Behind will impact school funding. Rulings such as the Lemon Test and separation of church and state will impact decisions that can potentially result in litigation and court rulings dictating educational decisions. In his work
A person is more likely to be more successful in life when attaining a higher degree. They can pursue a successful career that they are passionate about. Higher education is beneficial because no matter what you choose to do it will always be there to back you up in the future. Having a college degree can help you with financial stability as well. But, in today’s world, does having a college degree mean you can get any job at any given place or time? Not always will you find jobs that need certain degrees to be placed in jobs. Many places prefer no degree than having one. Some jobs require something even higher. There are a few limitations on having higher education. Also, by having higher education, it does not necessarily mean a person knows everything. You may have little to no education and still learn and know more things than someone with higher education can. For example, in Blue-Collar Brilliance, Mike Rose; Rose’s mother had dropped out of school to help support her family in a diner. She did not need school or a degree to develop psychological skills. She knew how things worked in a person by socially connecting to them. “Her tip depended on how well she responded to these needs, and so she became adept at reading social cues and managing feelings, both the customers’ and her own.” (Rose). That goes to show that higher education is not always needed in workplaces that use more connection to humans
