The Rise of Valadon in the midst of Uncertainty Many historians have often contemplated what inspired Valadon to become an artist. Some critics even ponder on how she obtained access to various art techniques without a strong academic background. She did not acquire a formal education after all and she often gallivanted throughout the taverns of Montmartre. It was quite rare and peculiar for a woman with such social stigma to become a well-rounded artist. It is commonly believed that Valadon started her modeling career in Montmartre at the tender age of 15. She modeled for ten years for many prominent artists such as Pierre-Cécile Puvis de Chavannes, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (Rose, 1999). She was also known

She was in France from around September 1814. An animal trainer, S. Réaux, exhibited her under more pressured conditions for fifteen months. French naturalists, among them Georges Cuvier, head keeper of the menagerie at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle, visited her. She was the subject of several scientific paintings at the Jardin du Roi, where she was examined in March 1815: as Saint-Hilaire and Frédéric Cuvier, a younger brother of Georges, reported, "she was obliging enough to undress and to allow herself to be painted in the nude." This was not literally true: although by his standards she appeared to be naked, in accordance with her own cultural norms of modesty throughout these sessions she wore a small apron-like garment which concealed her genitalia. She steadfastly refused to remove this even when offered money by one of the attending scientists. carried the usual advertisements for her show only a week prior to her death, she may always have been able to support herself without recourse to
By the time he was seventeen, Monet was already making money from his work and had won a local reputation as a caricaturist. Skillful and amusing, his caricatures were displayed in the window of a local frame maker, Monsieur Gravier, where they drew crowds of appreciative viewers. Gravier also displayed paintings by the landscape painter Eugene Boudin, who was an old friend of his. Monet's development of friendship and informal tutelage of Boudin proved to be formative for Monet's future direction as a landscape painter. (Gordon, 38)
There are very few things that appreciate with time. Many people love to bank on a rookie baseball player, in hopes his card will be worth thousands. Many invest in land, praying they hit a gold mine like land in Frisco or Prosper, Texas. One of these rare items is art. Art is a luxury, that many high income people love to invest in. Pablo Picasso’s art is some of the most if not the most prominent, pieces of artwork in the world. Picasso was a trendsetter of sorts, helping start many movements including introducing the idea of a collage in his later paintings. Picasso had a habit of drawing his lovers in his paintings. For some of his mistresses, he created lots of art with them as the main subjects of the paintings, as those were the stronger influences. Many of his paintings were centered around one of his mistresses, Marie-Therese Walter. Picasso met the 17-year-old Walter while he was married to his wife, Olga Khokhlova. Throughout their relationship, which spanned nine years, she was the centerpiece of his work. Depending on the depiction of the subject, Picasso showed his emotion toward Walter. The painting, ‘Seated Woman’ of Walter by Picasso portrays a unique style, a powerful use of colors, and a different view of Walter in comparison to paintings of his other mistresses.
One day in 1893, Pierre Bonaire strolled on the streets of Paris. Many years later, he will be the post-impressionist Zongjiang, founder of the Nabi School of painting and the world, but then, he was just a 26-year-old solo painter. In the street, he helped a girl cross the road, and then occasionally began to chat: she said he was 16 years old, called Mardel de Mellini, first came to Paris, working in the flower shop. Later she became Bonnard's model, and then naturally become the lover of Bonnard.

Henri Rousseau, born in May 21, 1844, was a self-taught artist who started his artistic career when he was forty. He began his life working as a clerk, then he joined the French army after being accused of stealing money from his employer. He later moved to Paris and obtained a job working for the French Customs Office, and it was there that he began painting part-time. It was really this background of his that allowed his paintings to be original and uninfluenced by traditional painting techniques. Since he was a self-taught artist and had no significant experience with painting, he had the freedom to paint as he perceived and as he imagined. Henri Rousseau was a man who liked to exaggerate his life to make himself seem adventurous and exciting. He made up stories about his time in the military and overstated his importance in the Customs office where he worked. This was also reflected in his artwork where manipulated the painting to emphasize beauty and excitement.

In Paris ever since the 1780s women have been becoming more successful in the art world possibly even more successful than men. Women in royal families are very important in the funding of the new aspiring female artists. Even with the limited opportunities given to women to learn painting skills some have been able to succeed. There is a limit of the number of women allowed to attend the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture in France is limited and women could not attend drawing classes to learn how to draw historical events. She was a Flemish painter who was alive from 1510 to 1576. She was also a portrait painter, like many of the other women artists at this time. Her father was a manuscript illuminator, so she was yet another female artist from the early centuries who painted and did art because of her father’s encouragement. She was invited to Henry VIII’s court, and then after his death, she continued that same role under Queen Mary I and Queen Elizabeth I. She is not as well-known as her contemporaries because she mostly did miniature portraits, and therefore did not have her work as widely dispersed as others did (Women Artists of the
Vincent then attended preparatory classes with intense lessons of Dutch, German, French, and English along with the traditional array of math and science courses. Yet for reasons unknown, in March of 1868, Vincent returned to his home in Zundert. His boyhood came to a close in July of 1869 when he joined the art business as a dealer for Goupil & Co. This was a family tradition, as three of his uncles, including one also by the name of Vincent, were also art dealers. Vincent’s brother Theo would also become an art dealer four years after him. As a young child, Vincent was not known for his own creation of art. Though his family made a great impact on his view of dealing art, he was not an art prodigy like other famous arts such as Henri de Toulous-Lautrec and Pablo Picasso were. While a handful of his drawings between the ages of eight and ten have survived, he did not truly take a serious interest in creating art until he was twenty-seven. (Hulsker & Miller, 5-14)
