A Valentine's Day I Will Never Forget
When you think of sweethearts exchanging candy, cards, and other sweet nothings, what day immediately develops in your mind? Would this be Valentine’s Day? Probably. I have had a special Valentine’s Day occur every year for the past 5 years, my wedding anniversary. It makes me recall the most memorable Valentine's Day I have ever had, which was the day of my wedding, along with the night preceding the nuptials.
All brides are nervous before their wedding. Though mine was going to be small and untraditional, I was no exception. I believe I had a very good reason to be nervous; the influenza bug had infected my fiancée! I believed for a slight moment that he was faking or just had pre-wedding jitters.

His black slacks, maroon colored shirt and black velvet blazer was all he had to do in order to complete his attire.
We arrived at the county clerk's office a half hour before closing and I still was not completely ready. Since I drove, due to my husband not having a driver's license, I had yet to finish putting on my make-up. As I was nervously smoking a cigarette, and trying to apply my make up in my truck’s rearview mirror, I cried out to my soon to be husband, “The bouquet is still not put together!”
He stated, “Let me have the bag I'll handle it.” I hesitantly handed over the bag of floral and ribbon, then continued on applying my make-up. My soon to be husband finished the bouquet arrangement, I believe it had come out more beautiful than I could have done myself. This just added another positive mark on my checklist of why I was about to seal our commitment to each other. Now ready, we were both guided toward a small room within the county clerk's office; just big enough for an altar, podium, and five chairs for witnesses. As we entered, there stood this little old man and his wife. The little old man gestured for us to stand in front of the altar as he introduced himself and his wife. I remember something he said regarding how long they had been married, I don't recall the exact number, but I believe it was in the golden era of 50 years or more. This gave me hope and reassurance that we were doing the right thing. Our other witnesses were our mutual friend
What is the ultimate form of a tragic love? For Wong, it is neither denial nor acceptance, but an eternal state of longing and waiting. Among Wong Kar Wei’s internationally acclaimed productions, Days of Being Wilde (1990), In the Mood for Love (2000), and 2046 (2004) are loosely counted as a trilogy of love. In the end chapter of his trilogy 2046, Wong continues to focus on Chou-Mu-Yun, a sentimental yet callous writer and womanizer. Revolving around the affairs of Chou, 2046 presents to its audience three pathways that love could possibly offer: to unite in happiness, to move on after the denial from the loved one, and to linger upon the unanswered love in perpetuity. Chou is undoubtedly chosen to be the bearer of the last pathway. As the
Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen - I would like to start by thanking Frank on behalf of the bridesmaids for his kind comments and echo the fact that they look wonderful and performed their role fantastically well, despite the inevitable and healthy rivalry that can sometimes occur. In fact, just before the service I overheard a furious sisterly argument about who was going to be first to dance with the best man. Understandable, I thought - until I got closer and heard them saying, 'You!', 'no, you!'
The journey that Richard and Mildred Loving took is important for history and for the future of civil rights in the United States. I recently watched the documentary The Loving Story and enjoyed the footage, pictures, and interviews of everyone involved in the Loving v. Virginia case. The documentary addressed the issue of interracial marriage in Virginia in 1967.
Facing death at any age is difficult, but for Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and John Sullivan, it came early, resulting in two essays retelling their experience. In their accounts of these situations, the author can see they both want to emphasise that death can come in very unexpected situations. To My One Love, by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, begins on page 17 of 50 Essays by Samuel Cohen. In her essay, set in present day, she has flashbacks to her relationship with a boy “from the wrong side of town” named Nnamdi. They were in a loving relationship against their peers’ wishes. When it came time for them to separate due to education in separate locations, they had ended the relationship, but not before Nnamdi had promised that them
The Tilley family gave a statement outside of the restaurant the two of you dined and spoke nothing, but how happy they were that you had forgiven him and the wedding will proceed. My chief attorney told me what you had tried to do and how they had gone back on their word on signing the final document to release their charges of assault against me. I wished you would’ve confided in me so I could stop you. Now I know why they didn’t sign the other document when I see the two of you together… like you

Comparing The Flea and Valentine "The flea" is a metaphysical poem about a man trying to argue a virgin into bed to have sexual intercourse with him. This poem was most likely written to amuse the readers and probably more for a larger male audience. The poem was written in the late 17th century in a period where sex within marriage was like a household chore, but socially, sex before marriage was like a sin, because society was extremely religious. John Donne is attempting to get these thoughts out of her head and persuade her to have sex with him.
I was walking down the hall about to get a donut when I heard someone crying in the main lobby of the police department. When I saw the source, it was a woman. A beautiful one at that. She had raven-black hair that almost lasted forever, with a darker, almost bronze skin tone that was complemented with stunning eyes, seemingly made of emerald. She was crying, her green eyes puffy and red. Tears billowed down her face. She was wearing flannel and jeans. Wives losing their husbands (or vice versa) is, unfortunately, not uncommon in this line of work, whether it was a friend or a stranger. So I walked up to her and handed her a tissue. “What’s wrong, honey?” I asked with the most sincere voice I could put on at the time. She sniffled for a moment and spoke, her voice cracking and wavering, “my husband… he's dead,” she said, “he killed himself with his father’s old hunting rifle.” She sobbed profusely after this statement. I told her I was sorry for her loss and offered to help her out, if possible. She smiled a little, “thank you, sir.” I then asked, “what’s your name?” After stifling a sob, she answered. “Nora. Nora
Edgar Allan Poe: Past and Present Edgar Allen Poe was a true genius of his time. He knew how to capture horror and frighten his readers out of their minds. Edgar Allen Poe wrote a poem, “A Valentine,” that he wrote for his secret lover. This paper argues the differences between Poe’s poem “A Valentine” and his other work, and how it differs from his typical psychologically insane, writing style.
Valentine's is developed in contemporary culture as the most romantic day of the whole year, but its history is not the cards, love hearts and restaurants that it's now. Dating back to the times of historic Roman martyrs, it wasn't till 500 AD a feast day was founded on the 14th February to commemorate Valentine

Love is difficult to define, difficult to measure, and difficult to understand. Love is what great writers write about, great singers sing about, and great philosophers ponder. Love is a powerful emotion, for which there is no wrong definition, for it suits each and every person differently. Whether love is between family, friends, or lovers, it is an overwhelming emotion that can be experienced in many different ways.
We all wish to have that magical moment a moment that just leaves you in awe and feelings that are indescribable. A couple of seconds that your heart just beats faster and faster and there’s no stopping the excitement, the happiness, the butterflies. Sounds like it was just taken out of a love song, right? Truth of the matter is that love songs influence young culture on how love should feel and create this stereotype that love is nothing but a moment filled with passion and desires. But reality is that’s not always the case and these songs set up unrealistic measures such as, a passionate moment or falling in love solely on physical attraction; and if you don’t achieve that moment or are not attracted in that instant then you’re not in
I met her two years ago and we did not have much to say at that time. Little did I know that she would later steal my heart and become an intimate part of my life. As the saying goes "there is someone for anyone at any time in this life" and I was about to find out that this saying was so true. I have had a wall built around me and my defense was as a stronghold to protect myself from all the relationships that have come and gone over the years. I thought that I was meant to be alone in this old life and happiness was forever gone from me. This wonderful woman I am speaking of is Mary Doe, and the joy she has given me has revived my hope and faith that I may have finally found love and peace within. She has made me feel like I am a child
Love is an abundant emotion that has different degrees. There is familial love, friendly love, unconditional love, and of course romantic love. Romantic love will be the superstar of this article. Romantic love may be around every corner whether between an old couple or a young teenage romance. However, love is not the easiest thing to attain. It is such a simple concept, though a difficult thing to actually have a person’s hands on.
