Giovanni Gabrieli was a legendary composer of the 16th century. As the fundamental structure and ideas of the Catholic Church were being challenged by the Protestant Reformation and the Counter-Reformation, Gabrieli’s compositions were given the opportunity to be successful and influential to music in the coming centuries. His works helped to transform not only church music of the Catholic Church, but also secular music as well. Giovanni Gabrieli wrote significant works that ultimately shaped the rise of the symphony, including the development of purely instrumental works, the art of orchestration, and the concerto style. Without his innovations in composition, it is arguable that instrumental music would not have developed as quickly, or developed

Vanzetti was being tried under Massachusetts' felony-murder rule, but no direct evidence had been tied Vanzetti's .38 nickel-plated Harrington & Richardson five-shot revolver to the crime scene. The only question that arouse with it was that the slain guard apparently had one identical in type and appearance, but was missing from the crime scene. No witness testified to seeing anyone take the gun. Additionally, witnesses to the payroll shooting had described Berardelli as reaching for his gun on his hip when he was cut down by pistol fire from the robbers, but his holster was empty when the body was found. There were other attempts made at proving he had stolen the gun, but not proper evidence or complete advance was able to be shown.

While shadowing Dr. Dario Narro, he began to tell me a story of a major decision he had to make early in his career. After finishing his residency in Houston, he had to decide where to establish his medical practice where he did residency or move back to the Rio Grande Valley. In the end, he chose to stay close to home and established settled in south Texas. He gave several reasons such as being close to family but there was one that stood out to me the most which was “It’s not about the money but rather the people”. This inspired me to follow his footsteps and establish my medical career in an area where I can impact a greater population. In a place where I can make a bigger difference in the lives of others.

Throughout my journey of life I often found myself in situations where I would be giving advice or offering suggestions. I always describe myself as being a better listener than talker, because really I am. My friends, family and sometimes even strangers would feel comfortable enough to share their personal issues with me and I in return would offer advice based on what I would do if I was in their shoes. These situations would happen so frequently and naturally that I enjoyed it especially when they would actually use my advice!

Giorgio Vasari is known for being the first Art Historian. He wrote the seminal work The Lives of the Artists. But why did he write it? Of course every book is written for a purpose but I don’t think Vasari was writing just to inform people of art and artists. At the beginning of the 14th Century the value of artists and their craft began to rise. They had been a member of the guild system along with other valued members of the medieval economic system certainly but suddenly wealthy people not just the clergy saw buying art and dedicating it to God as a way to pay for past sins and show their esteemed colleagues that they were actually doing something to ensure passage to heaven. This rise of humanism is continuing theme into the next two centuries when it reaches Vasari. If Art has reached its zenith in realism and can go no higher. How then can Vasari increase his worth and that of his fellow artists in the world’s estimation? Write a book detailing the lives of great artists and explain how they received their genius from God and made startling contributions to the many great religious and civic efforts of Italy and Florence in particular. This was going to help him increase his own power if he could connect his talent to the greatness of God and those who needed God’s Grace more than most; the rich and powerful.
