The new required competencies for leaders and health care organization boards to move from fee-for-service to value-based care are a broad and deep understanding of:
• Understand What Assuming Risk Means: Risk models differ among Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurers. Hospitals and health system leaders need to understand the level of risk various models pose and ensure the risk models in which their organizations choose to participate complement each other well.
• Know Your Market: For many health systems, competing effectively under value-based care models may mean creating regional partnerships. Hospital leaders must first determine the number of patients they will need to care for to be profitable under various value-based care models
Apart from relationship management, leadership, professionalism, human-resource management, and business expertise are few other key competencies that are required for a leader aspiring to advance in the field of healthcare. (Karen Gordon-Sosby, personal communication, September 17, 2015)
In this task, I will explain how my care workers implement the care values when caring for my chosen service user using examples.
In this task, I will look at the seven principles of the Care Value Base. The Care Value Base is a Code of Practice which care workers follow and must apply a level of care to service users according to the Care Value Base. I will look at one particular care setting, which will be a hospital, to investigate how they provide a high quality of care according to the Care Value Base. While on work placement at a hospital, I learnt valuable information on how a hospital follows the guidelines of the Care Value Base when caring for service users.

The value and leadership skills in healthcare are both very professions are vital skills that are needed to provide everyday care (Graber, 2008). This literature review will explore the important values and leadership in health care. The review will provide the understandings of both topics. The term value can be determined by a person's standards and principles (Gaudine & Beaton, 2002). According to Grojean, Resick & Diskson (2004) leadership, is an actual way to improve patient`s. A good leader is said to reveal certain roles and behaviors that influence others in the way of positive change and direction. Viinamäki, (2009) back these same ideas but also have confidence in that there is a difference between value and leadership. They believe that leaders are viewed as individuals who can connect through motivation, visions, and inspire positive directions to generate company and organizational change. Graber (2008) impression of leadership can be understood as the capability of one person to impact the behaviors and actions of other people.
West Florida Regional Medical Center (WFRMC) located on the north side of Pensacola, Florida competed strongly with sacred heart and Baptist hospitals for patients. Value Based Purchasing refers to a strategy used by employers and the Federal government to provide excellence in health care. It entails improving healthcare quality in order to improve population health. The program is used by Medicare and what is included is measuring and reporting comparative performance, paying providers based on performance, and designing health benefit strategies and incentives to encourage individuals to provide higher quality care. Leaders should be concerned because although people are working hard to ensure everyone has access to good health care, the problem is keeping it affordable. Also, value-based purchasing is in its early stages, therefore there is lack of data. It is important for leaders to have evidence-based care in order to provide the best preventative care possible.
The major reasons why adding value to patient services at Paradise Hospital, Inc. is important, is because of the various challenges, changes and competition that the health care system faces. These challenges mainly stem from the Affordable Care Act. Under the ACA hospital that perform well or could receive some sort of financial incentive. These incentives are based on both clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction data. The ACA can also penalize hospitals that perform poorly.

All health care professionals are required at some point in their position to engage in management or leadership. As an AIN, EN or RN they all have a responsibility to educate, lead and manage within the health care profession (Innis & Berta, 2016, p.2-22). This allows each individual to develop useful and excellent leadership skills and management strategies to be able to educate and lead an exceptional team (Innis & Berta, 2016, p. 2-22). Pressures include providers troubled with the quantity of services they are responsible for, to providers who concentrate on presenting high-cost services that give emphasis to sustaining healthy populations (Dunn & Becker, 2013).
One thing the health care organization has to key in is the community. The community in which they reside is the heartbeat of that organization. There is no way they can reach out to any other communities if they do not provide an adequate service to their local community. This is very important to have a good reputation of performing quality work at a fair price. This would insure your reputation stays intact. The community in which they serve must feel like this is the best organization for them and not consider any other choices. The organization in that community should have the best prices and really should be lower than any other organization in that area. In many cases the people closes to that organization do not shop around with the organization in the next town. What about the people who does? The thing is, the organization must have the best
As in all business types, there is always competition between similar companies. The health care industry is no different and in fact, competition has been considered a health way to draw interest to an organization. To quote James Cash Penney (n.d.), "A merchant who approaches business with the idea of serving the public well has nothing to fear from the competition." The better equipped a facility is to handle competing businesses, the better it must be for patients. To stay competitive means being in-tune with the current market, what the consumer wants or expects, knowing what your competitors are doing, and having the best available technology and staff. In fact, the main purpose of remaining competitive is to be the business that gains the most profit from their product. This goal however does not have to mean a business is simply out to make a profit, especially in the health care field. What it should mean is the ability to care for patients better than anyone else.
To encourage the shift toward service quality, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has launched four initial value based programs: the Hospital Value Based Purchasing VM) or Physician
