While taking the Values in Action Inventory of Strengths, my attention was drawn by several questions, in particular, those concerning faith in the future, interaction with others, honesty, the ability to embrace other people feelings or ideas, and love and appreciation of other as well of oneself. Although I felt at times overwhelmed by conflicting feelings, A question, above all, has washed my face with tears and shook the castle of certainty that I had carelessly built on sand: I am the most important person in someone else's life.
Honestly, I do not think I am and neither I want to be the most important person in someone else’s life. I just would like to love myself and be loved unconditionally, regardless all my contradictions, idiosyncrasies, fears, mood swings, and an insatiable curiosity that sometimes leads me to make choices that may appear abstruse in the eyes of others. Not surprisingly, Love was in twentieth place, and

Evidently, I have not yet found the strength to let go of some memories that keep me from living in a serene way the profound faith I undoubtedly have in something greater than us.

Identifying and understanding your own personal strengths is key to being a successful leader. Knowing your strengths means you can focus your efforts to maximize results, in yourself and in others. Strengths Finder 2.0 is designed to uncover your strengths and utilize these strengths to your advantage (Rath, 2007). Identifying and applying these strengths to your leadership style, will enhance your effectiveness as a transformational leader.
Tom Rath’s “Strengths Finder 2.0” on-line assessment identified that my top five strengths are: Strategic, Focus, Futuristic, Significance, and Learner. I see the Strength Finder Assessment as a great opportunity to get to know my personal strengths and it motivates me to work and practice my talents rather than trying to fix my weaknesses. Looking only at my strengths is a new type of skills-building which allows me to stay focus on my talents.
My top strength identified was the Achiever theme. Achiever describes the need for constant achievement. Achievers have the capacity and the drive to keep taking on new challenges and strive toward new goals (Rath, 2007). This description is accurate in that I enjoy a new challenge and like to keep busy working towards anything with some sort of successful outcome. I welcome the opportunity to do something better, more perfectly, or more complete which motivates me to a higher level (Rath, 2007).
Personally the top three strengths connect to me very perfectly. Perspective is a form of saying that I take a look of things in a broader point of view. Where everyone’s idea are taken into consideration to come up with a fair conclusion, or viewing a problem globally to define my answer. These past few years I have found a humble, peaceful, and positive perceptive of the human race and the earth itself. Meditation, rituals, and change of life style has embraced in me that my strength for spirituality stands as number 2 on the list. I cannot count the times I had to be strong not only for myself, but for my family. Bravery is a strength that helps me stay strong from all the obstacles thrown my way. According to “Level 5 leadership” by Jim Collins is described as Humility + Will = Level 5. "Level 5 leaders are a study in duality,
After taking the StrengthsFinder survey, I was surprised at what I found in some instances. This survey was actually the most accurate of any quiz I have taken previously when describing my strengths and it even nailed many of my personality traits. According to the StrengthsFinder survey, my top five themes, or strengths are Learner Maximizer, Arranger, Responsibility, and Developer (Gallup, 2012).
“enhancing self-awareness, recognizing values of ‘congruence, unconditional positive regard, and empathic understanding’, self-responsibility, understanding one’s feelings, awareness of one’s own perspective, being open to experience, being rational, living a fuller life, positive life-direction, acceptance of one’s and other’s uniqueness, prizing one and others, and living a moral and ethical life” (pg. 343).
After taking the assessment, my top five strengths were identified to be: restorative, empathy, developer, adaptability and strategic (in that order). A person that is restorative enjoys facing new
It has been stated “happiness is the aim of life, but virtue is the foundations of happiness” (Thomas Jefferson, 1819). Seligman proposes that the identification and use of positive individual strengths of character, associated with virtue, are important components to achieving eudemonic happiness and in creating and sustaining a meaningful life. Virtues and strengths can serve as defenses during times of adversity, as well as, have the ability to enhance the healthier moments in life. The Values in Action (VIA) classification system contains 24 strengths of character that are sub-categories of six cross-culturally accepted core virtues: Wisdom and knowledge, courage, humanity, justice, temperance, as well as, transcendence. The VIA classification was created in order to provide conceptual and empirical means of describing and measuring positive development. (Peterson, 2006; Seligman, 2002)
The StrengthsFinder Survey showed me that my five strengths were: strategic, futuristic, responsibility, relator, and belief. I feel like these strengths have made m into the woman that I am today, and will also continue to help me mold into the woman I will become. I feel that I am strategic, because I always seek out the main goal in everything that I do (Gallup, 2010).
I have many other strengths beside the ones my peers identified. Gratitude is one of my strengths. This means that I am aware and thankful for the things that happen or I have in my life. I avoid taking things for granted and value my life. Another strength is Prudence. This means that I process my actions and do not go through with
Upon taking the strength test, my five signature strengths are Appreciation of Beauty and Excellence, second quality is gratitude, honesty being the third, prudence lays at fourth and spirituality being the fifth signature strength.
After going through the list of Values & Principles, I have realized my top 5 strengths are: Acceptance, Individualism, Non-Judgementalism, Objectivity, and Confidentiality. Even though these may be some of my strengths, there are also some weaknesses along with this. One may excel at something very well, but at the same time, there is always room for improvement.
My strengths – supportive, understanding, encouraging, I have the ability to keep pushing forward even when things are not going my way, faith, hard work.
My strengths I'm a very hard worker, and I enjoy what I do. I am responsible for my actions. I am a very caring person, which helps in certain situations. I love to learn new things everyday, with the patients and other subjects.
Throughout my life I have always felt like I knew myself, but until recently I have never, truly known myself. These traits are one of my utmost important values to me in the sense that they are what I do my best to live by them. My five main values are creativity, compassion, empathy, love, and wisdom. I value creativity since through that I am able to express myself. Compassion is important to me being that I cannot be a bystander and forsake the people suffering or the guilt would eat me alive, knowing I could have done something to help. Most of my life I have empathized with people, putting myself in their shoes and feeling their emotions, so that Is why empathy is one of my core values in view of How are you going to understand someone if you cannot put yourself in their
