Most smokers want to quit and make attempts to do so, but the majority of these attempts fail. Electronic cigarettes are these peoples best choice if they want to quit but the first generation e-cigarettes failed severely. Luckily the second generation personal vaporizers are working out great. Vape pens have a benefit over traditional nicotine replacement treatments, in that they feel and perform like a traditional cigarette, without the smoke, tar and other damaging materials.
Being able to grip and use a vape pen just as person would use a cigarette may very well give a person the extra edge that someone would need in their battle against tobacco. Somebody can select an e-liquid with no nicotine, or start with one containing nicotine and

Vaping is by far the cleanest method of smoking and as a result it is the least damaging to a person’s body. No more bad toxins and residue being inhaled means less pollution to ones lungs and reduced chance of becoming sick. As great as this may sound, it might not even be the greatest benefit of this new device. Vape pens come in many designs but almost all of them are very small and portable, usually able to fit right into a pocket. The fact that these devices are so tiny and easily confused as an e-cigarettes makes them highly discreet and turns into the best portable vaporizer someone can own. Even when the vapor is exhaled from the unit, it is virtually odorless. The discreetness of these products enables someone to bring them with them almost anywhere they would want to take …show more content…
The outcome of this experiment was that there was a thirty six percent reduction in the amount of cigarettes a day from the participant’s baseline that was compared to the 30 days prior to the study. This study’s information can be found on ClinicalTrials.gov with the Identifier Number, NCT021224200.
The study on the safety of e-cigarettes and vape pens by the World Health Organization’s Tobacco Regulatory Group notes that the extent of nicotine uptake and the safety of e-cigarettes have yet to be fully studied. There are only a few known side effects of vaping or e-cigarettes. One of them is dry mouth, this is caused by the vegetable glycerin content in the e-liquids.
The conclusion is that due to the amount of time the “e-cig” or the vape pens have been on the market more research is required to look at its short and long-term safety effects on a smoker's health. The use of second generation vaporizers considerably reduce cigarette consumption without causing significant side
Everyone always wants to be with the latest trend, and as many celebrities and magazine ads have pictures of vaping, electronic cigarettes have become a "trend”. People are largely unaware of the emergency risks of vaping. According to a study by Mitch Zeller he states, “I can say definitely, that nicotine is harmful to a developing teenage brain. And no teenager, no young person. should be using any tobacco or nicotine-containing products”. Unlike true cigarettes, electronic cigarettes do not have
First, vaping is bad for the body and one's health. Vaping is the heating of a liquid, or “juice," until it becomes a vapor that is then inhaled. Since vaping has only been around in recent years, there are not many studies about them yet, but what researchers have seen so far does not look good for the future. Researchers say, “And then there's the nicotine. This is the component in cigarettes that smokers get hooked on. Research shows that nicotine may be as addictive as heroin or cocaine” (Lombardi). Many people “stop smoking" with the use of a vape. Little do they know, some of the same components found in cigarettes are also found in a vape. Nicotine, found in both vapes and cigarettes, is proven to be extremely addictive. Research shows that it could be as addictive as cocaine or heroin. For years, researchers have studied the horrendous outcome of nicotine effects on the body.
The e-cigarette format, however, does not eliminate concerns regarding public and individual health risks. The World Health Organization has called for e-cigarette usage to be monitored in the same way as more conventional tobacco products,(23) the US FDA is advocating for more research,(24) and there has been a dramatic increase in analyses of the chemical, physiological, psychological and socio-cultural aspects of e-cigarettes.(2-7,9-12,14-21,24-52)
The popularity of e-cigarettes and vapes has grown exponentially within the last couple of years. These two alternatives offer a “safe” way to consume nicotine or just a substitute to regular cigarette smoking. These products omit water vapor instead of tobacco smoke, constructing it as less of a health risk. Nicotine can be added to the mixture to help quit smoking or offer a healthier option to those with nicotine dependence. There has not been widespread research on conventional e-cigarettes, in addition to data on vapes been relatively premature. These smoking devices have not be regulated by the FDA yet, but the FDA has looked into e-cigarettes and its contents (FDA, 2015). Many e-cigarettes that are thought to be free of nicotine, have
Vaporizing pens are becoming a very popular trend. Though still awaiting FDA approval, the electronic cigarette, or e-cigarette, is growing popularity among those attempting to quit smoking. Young people are using vaporizing pens as a “safe alternative” to smoking. This issue needs to be addressed. Vaping is a lot more convenient than smoking traditional cigarettes. At a push of a button nicotine is being released. There also aren’t any laws or regulations on vapor pens like there are for traditional cigarettes. Vape pens also aren’t being used for just smoking nicotine. They are often used to smoke other types of drugs. Vaporizing pens are causing a serious problem and I have a few solutions on how to fix this rising issue.
The use of e-cigarettes has been growing substantially in recent years as a much safer and healthier alternative to smoking tobacco cigarettes. The use of e-cigarettes is also known as vaping since e-cigarettes work by using water vapor instead of smoke, and they closely emulate the look and feel of smoking without the harmful health effects of tobacco smoke. While many people enjoy the benefits of vaping, there are several myths about vaping that have sprung up recently that are simply not true.
In the United States, the usage of cigarettes is slowly declining, making way for alternative forms of tobacco and nicotine sources to become popular. In the past decade, one of these cigarette alternatives has become very popular, even widely among teens, and it’s referred to as “vaping”. Vaping is the use of electronic cigarettes that replace burning paper and tobacco with flavored steam, which usually has nicotine in it (Kriegel). Since vaping hasn’t been around very long and hasn’t become popular until recently, not much is known about the effects or how harmful it could be long term. One source says, “There's also a widespread belief that e-cigarettes are safe, or at least safer than conventional tobacco products. But several studies have suggested this may not be the case,” (Fox). Although there is a very strong debate on whether e-cigarettes are a safe alternative for cigarettes, there are too many risk factors involved due to conflicting information and studies, for vaping to be deemed safe.
E-cigs are a fantastic way to help people quit smoking, because when switching over the smokers will still be getting the nicotine that they crave without all of the terrible and harmful effects on the body. E-cigs may also trick the mind too, by inhaling the vapor the brain may think it is smoke and be much more satisfied with it than just a nicotine patch. There was study done recently of 657 people with 289 using e-cigs, 295 on nicotine patches, and 73 using placebo e-cigs all trying to quit smoking. After six months, they had the test subjects report back whether or not they were able to quit. The data came back very compelling with 21/289 people quit on e-cigs, 17/295 on nicotine patches quit, and 3/73 were able to quit on placebo e-cigs. They came to a conclusion that e-cigs, with or without nicotine, were moderately effective at helping smokers quit smoking, and with equal to if not better quitting rates than nicotine patches (Bullen et al). It is proven that e-cigarettes/vapes can be a significant and if not the best method to quit
This study really opened my eyes to a new prospective on vaping and the use of e-cigarettes. The use of vapes should be taken cautiously and not displayed for our youth to see so vaguely. Though, it has shown me that vaping and e-cigs have a positive effect on helping traditional cigarette smokers stop smoking. These studies will take us much further into the pros and cons of regulating vapes and
Do you know a friend, or have a family member that uses an e-cigarette? The chances of a person has increased greatly. According to the American Lung Association,”both high school and middle school students e-cigarette usage has tripled in one year, increasing from 4.5% in 2013 to 13.4 % in 2014.” With the rising usage rates, e-cigs and their dangers associated with them are impacting more and more Americans everyday. While some people in America believe that electronic cigarettes are safe, Americans should be aware that electronic cigarettes have dangers, including addiction and harmful chemicals.
E-cigarettes have exploded onto the scene in the past three years. Whole stores dedicated to these devices have opened their doors to the public and business is thriving. E-cigarettes are battery-charged devices that have an atomizer, or heating element, in them to vaporize liquid nicotine. The user is able to inhale this vapor and get the nicotine without the other 4,000 chemicals present in tobacco cigarette smoke (Schroeder). Nicotine is a chemical that is produced by the tobacco plant. People have discovered that by smoking the leaves of a tobacco plant the nicotine in the leaves is delivered into the bloodstream. Nicotine by itself is not an awful drug as far as drugs go, although it is highly addictive, it is the tar in cigarettes that does so much damage. Tobacco use remains the number one preventable cause of death in the U.S. with 480,000 Americans dying prematurely from tobacco related disease. Kicking this habit remains difficult for most (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services). Mark Twain once wrote “It’s easy to quit smoking, I’ve done it hundreds of times.”
These alarming statistics have propelled ongoing discussions on how vaping may contribute greatly to nicotine addiction in teens, as well as other health risks and diseases. Scientists and health professionals are still studying the matter to determine how exactly using e-cigarettes affect one’s health in the long run.
The article then goes on to say “But the use of e-cig can cause inflammation in the lungs and makes them more vulnerable to infection. Nicotine from any type of cigarette can raise rate and blood pressure because nicotine acts as a stimulate and prompts adrenaline rush in the body. E-ci are not regulated by the FDA although the agency are working on changing it.”
One thing that has commonly been agreed upon is that Americans are smoking less cigarettes now, due to vaporizer. About 23% of smokers have tired electronic nicotine device systems and 62% of participants from one study reported using them for no loner than six months (Tackett et al. 868, 870). According to Alayna Tackett et al. research, who are affiliated with the Department of Psychology and Oklahoma State University found, “Exhaled CO readings confirmed that 66% of the tested sample had quit smoking. Among those who continued to smoke, mean cigarettes per day decreased from 22.1 to 7.5” (868). This is pretty remarkable considering the fact the about half a million people die from cigarettes every year, in the United States alone. Participants reported that they viewed e-cigarettes to be, “significantly less harmful than all other tobacco products, all
E-cigarette is believed to greatly reduce on the health effects associated with tobacco smoking. However, e-cigarette has been criticized as a leading cause of smoking among the youth due to its flavor as well as its novel appearance and campaigns. It is also believed to pose some health risks. Despite such drawbacks, e-cigarette has recently gained a lot of popularity and subsequent growth.
