Varsity Club Research Paper

Recently, the Junior Civitan Club held a charter ceremony to officially recognize the club as part of Junior Civitan. This was a very momentous occasion for not only members and sponsors of the club, but for the school as well.

Royalton High School follows a 7 period day schedule, 50 minutes class periods, typically 5 days a week beginning at 8:15am and ending at 3:22pm. A regularly scheduled day consists of seven four minute passing periods and a 15 minute homeroom at the end of the day. Homeroom is not considered as a scheduled class, and even though it is not required, it is still beneficial to many students. The sole purpose of homeroom is to inform students of extracurricular activities, scholarships and college visits, the announcements, and reduce class absences.

I think I should be in the Junior Honor Society. I have met the requirements to receive this opportunity. I would not let this opportunity to waste. I care for the community and do what ever service to help it out. I help do services for the library when they need it. For example on March 10,2017, I helped make capes for sick kids and then gave them happy birthday cards for the birthday kids. I help out my community by helping people shovel their driveway. Like some of my neighbors can't do it so I ask if I can do it for them for free. I look out for people to make sure they are ok. I am a captain of a football team because of my great leadership skills that can be useful. I put effort and time into my work. Around the house I am a role model

I give this restaurant extremely high marks for producing a quality product.” Another bonus is that the restaurant is very popular, meaning the food is in high demand. Therefore the food that is already out doesn’t have time to get old and stale. But consumers don’t just want great tasting food in any amount; they want enough to fill them up until the time comes for their next meal.

Ever since I was younger, I have been an athlete. Because I have always been an athlete, I have always loved food. My family also enjoys going out to restaurants to celebrate or just for a family dinner. Therefore, I have been to many restaurants in my lifetime. Now that I am a hungry athlete at Wheeling Jesuit, I enjoy visiting all of the local restaurants Wheeling, West Virginia has to offer. However, who is to say which is the best? To be able to decide which restaurant is the finest, I set up criteria to judge restaurants off of. After researching, I found food quality, respectable service, reasonable price, and atmosphere are important qualities for a restaurant to have. Throughout my high school career I have taken several rigorous classes in order to test my academic ability. However, my school has not given me the opportunity to take a particular type of course commonly found at other other high schools around the country: Advanced Placement. Rochester High School does offer thirty-eight honors classes, but these lack the prestige of AP courses. The difficulty and curriculum of an honors course varies by school and by state, so universities cannot fully understand a student’s course load when this type of class appears on his or her transcript, especially when the applicant is from out-of-state.

When I think of the word academy, I think of bettering your education on a path that better prepares you for your specific career interests. At an academy that is exactly what I am looking for. My goals for attending an academy, is to take classes that challenge my interests and to come out of the experience, better prepared for the life, I specifically, want to live. I am not looking for your average high school experience. My hope is that the academy system will set me on a path filled with, yes, the average school requirements, but also classes and extracurricular activities that will better my learning in a field that I am actually interested in. Throughout my time in high school, I have been involved in numerous extracurricular activities. I have been involved in band, choir, golf, speech, theater, Student Council, quiz bowl, and National Honor Society. Though my participation in all of these, I have learned where my skills and interests are strongest.

My junior year of high school was the most challenging and eye opening year that I have experienced during my high school career. Although my junior year was extremely difficult, being assigned all honors classes, I also had some outstanding accomplishments. My junior year I was faced with some hard curriculum, but with my determination and mindset to do well, I finished off my entire year with second honors. I was finally rewarded for all of my hard work by being invited to join the National Honor Society and the National Hispanic Honor Society. I know that being invited to join these honor societies meant I had to keep my grades up a lot higher than even my standards, and at the time with this curriculum, it felt impossible.

Through the school years I have been to two schools. Some of my years were near-perfect but, others were a train wreck. I would have to say that my worst school year was sixth grade. Thinking back I have found many issues that lead me to think the year was a train wreck. First off, in the first semester I had an I.S.S. which stands for in school suspension. I regret doing what I did to earn that because it was as boring as a sack of wet sand. But as my wise 8th grade teacher Mrs.Moncada once said “You can make any choice you want. But, you are not free from the consequences that come with that choice.”

The term student athlete brings the image of a football player or a student known to be an arrogant jock, rather than the idea of a successful student on and off the field or court. Taking part in athletics while enrolled in school is a rigorous responsibility, yet despite this many student-athletes accept the challenge and excel academically. As stated from an online source, roughly 6.5% of high school football players will play at the collegiate level and with percentages that low, more effort is needed than being a superior athlete to succeed (“Probability of Competing Beyond High School”). Going out to eat should always be a pleasurable experience. One goes out to eat at a restaurant for several reasons including not wanting to cook, to share an outing with a friend or family member, or to celebrate a special occasion. When going out to eat, there are three distinct criteria that one must look at in order to determine if a restaurant does or does not meet a patron's expectations. These criteria include the menu, quality of food, and the price of the food. On a recent trip to visit a Mexican restaurant, Mi Tierra, where I had never been before, I applied these three criteria to determine if I would make a return visit to this establishment.

As far back as I can remember, I have always liked going out to eat. Two of my favorite restaurants are Jake’s and McDonald’s. Though both are places to dine they have their differences in their ambiance, waiting, and expense. When deciding where to go to eat, I have three things to think about. I must consider the atmosphere or where I want to go. The amount of time I have is another consideration. The amount of money that I am able to spend is a big influence.
