The Death Investigations When people hear the word “forensics” it evokes a mindful of graphic, vibrant images that bring about death and crime. It’s a trigger word that reminds people of gore, autopsies, DNA, death investigations, and bullet holes. This word means so much more than just those few examples of what forensics hold. Forensics is such a broad term- it is “scientific tests or techniques used in connection with the detection of a crime”, so with that given definition forensics could mean many different things. You could go from someone who works as the forensic computer technician who can hack into a sexual predator’s hard drive in the matter of seconds to a forensic anthropologist who studies bones in a legal case. All though there
Baily Mcmillan Mrs.Wilcox English 9C 17 Oct. 2016 Homicide Detective V.S. Criminologist When you see the shows such as Homicide Hunter or Killer Instincts many times my mom and I try to figure out who is the murder. Most of the time my prediction is right because of the details my mom misses, and putting together all the clues. From then on I realised I had a gift, even if it was I was just watching television show. That is what sparked my interest the criminal justice area. I have contemplated the career choices that would best fit my interest leaving me with Homicide Detective and Criminologist. While both careers deal with criminal justice they differ greatly in the type of work environment, pay, skills/education.

Man by the name of Patrick Musgrove hit and killed a man on the I-84 at 3:30Am when returning from bars in downtown Boise. The victim's name was Winters Wareagle. Wareagle was from Garden City and was on his way to visit some relatives with his mother when his car broke down. He was out on the road crouching when he got hit. The charges were dropped becase prosecutors say that his drunk state wasn't the cause of the kill but rather the lighting of the freeway and Wareagles position in the road. The charges
Based on the experience from Professor Orlon’s intern Bandrea Bay, there are three individuals within the scenario that committed a possible crime for which there are possible convictions. The first individual that will be focused on is Cynthia Smith Kones, whom is the mother of the five-year-old child that died due to neglect. Mrs. Kones is the primary caregiver of John Jr. and according to the United States Court of Appeals of the District of Columbia “Parents have a duty to aid and protect their minor children.” CITE. Mrs. Kones left the care of her child in the hands of her husband, Charley Kones, who was the child’s stepfather. However, Mrs. Kones simply left a note at the residence instead of personally communicating to her husband of
The straightforward case, State of Montana vs. Michael Curtis Soule, appeared to be Vehicular Homicide While Under the Influence. But costly mistakes that happened on the law enforcement end, ultimately altered the case into a complex situation of who done it. Such small errors like missing evidence and being caught up in the moment can change the outcome of any case to guilty or not guilty. In this particular case, investigators doubted their skills or second guessed evidence that could have been the game changer.
He was served with two uniform traffic tickets directing him to appear at a Town Justice Court. One ticket charged him with the misdemeanor of driving while intoxicated (DUI), and the other charged him with failing to keep to the right of the median. When Corbin pleaded guilty to the traffic tickets in the Town Justice Court, the presiding judge was not informed of the fatality or of a pending homicide investigation. Subsequently, a grand jury indicted Corbin, charging him with reckless manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and third-degree reckless assault. A bill of particulars identified the three reckless or negligent acts on which the prosecution would rely to prove the charges: (1) operating a motor vehicle on a public highway in an intoxicated condition; (2) failing to keep right of the median; and (3) driving at a speed too fast for the weather and road conditions. Corbin 's motion to dismiss the indictment on, inter alia, constitutional double jeopardy grounds was denied by the county court. Corbin then sought a writ of prohibition barring prosecution, which was denied by the Appellate Division. The State Court of Appeals reversed the decision, finding that the State’s intention to rely on prior traffic offenses as the acts necessary to prove the homicide and assault charges. The second prosecution would be barred if the prosecution sought to establish an essential element of the second crime by proving the conduct for
The two types of criminal behaviors are justifiable homicide and excusable homicides (Schmalleger, 2002). Justifiable manslaughter incorporates the execution of a sentenced guilty party by a court arrange or the killing of an opponent by a military in the line of obligation. An excusable homicide, as a rule, includes the unintentional or non-careless killing of another person. This implies there is no proof to demonstrate the convict had aimed to kill the victim. So there is no confirmation of wrongful or imprudence with respect to the individual that is sentenced (Schmalleger, 2002). Be that as it may, criminal crime is legitimately isolated from two types of murder and manslaughter. All things considered, there are two contemplations that
DUI, Oh My! Young Woman Arrested for DUI After Crashing Her Car On September 22, Anaelle Surprise was driving home with two other passengers on Sunrise Highway in the middle of a rainstorm at 2 A.M. Around that time she veered off the road and crashed into a nearby tree. Thankfully she was driving in the outermost lane and did not implicate any other cars in the crash. She was intoxicated at the time of the crash with her blood alcohol content at 0.092, which is .00736 over 0.08 when you are legally unable to drive a vehicle. Paramedics arrived quickly to the scene and brought her and her passengers to Southside hospital. Luckily, the driver and her passengers did not sustain any injuries more serious than a mild concussion, scratches, and bruises. It is reported that the three were
It was held that failure to direct the jury that a verdict of manslaughter was available Hind’s murder conviction, was merely an error of law and advantageous to Harwood. Accordingly, there was not a miscarriage of justice as the jury were instructed that a conviction of manslaughter was
When it comes to paranoia, the human brain is great at creating stories that heighten what we fear, have experienced, and will experience. We like to scare ourselves, bend the truth, create a monster out of truth. That is the same case with what is being told in The Killer in the Backseat stories. What may have one time been true and a common occurrence has been glorified into something much darker that now subconsciously forces people to often check their back seats anywhere they stop, just in case. This story is also known as High Beams due to some important points in the stories that can help ease some of the character's anxiety about their life being in danger.
The lead detective on the case told KABC that they plan to turn the results of the investigation over to the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office next week, and will recommend Jenner be charged with misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter.
Many organizations exist today to help fight against many things that some people may find obscene, repulsive or even down right unethical. Organizations such as MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving,) LULAC (League of United Latin American Citizens,) and NAACP (National Association For the Advancement of Colored People) are all groups that set out to fight for certain changes to happen. The group that I want to focus on now is Mothers Against Drunk Driving because I feel that they are a group that fights for the safety of lives from not only from the wrong doers but innocent lives that get thrown into the mixture as well. Drunk driving is a very serious issue that affects many lives daily and is an entirely avoidable action. Drivers have the choice and responsibility to not
The judge handling the case of the man who was arrested for driving his car into a white nationalist rally in Virgina had no choice but to find a local attorney who could represent the defendant after the public defender’s office announced that it could not defend him. James Fields who is 20 years of age has been charged with second degree murder, while August 25 has been set by Judge Robert Downer as the day for the hearing.
As Americans we love our cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorbikes for many different reasons. One major reason is that they are an easy and convenient mobility; a personal mode of transportation. It is rather hard to imagine what this county would be like without all the roads and vehicles on them. This is abundantly evident in Arizona, where the majority of us drive to most all of our activities from going to work or taking the kids for an ice cream. We jump into our vehicle and go. However, a curious thing often happens when we get in our car, truck and SUVs. We sometimes change turning into someone different when behind the wheel of our vehicle. We can become inconsiderate and aggressive to other drivers; at times even becoming rude, crude,
