Allegiant is the third and final book in the young adult dystopian fiction series written by Veronica Roth. The perspective of this book is shared between the two main characters, Tris and Tobias. They each narrate in alternating chapters, starting with Tris. The story begins with Tris, Christina, and Cara held captive by Evelyn inside an Erudite cell. They discuss the video shown in the last chapter of Insurgent. In the video, one of Tris's ancestors, Edith Prior, reveals that Divergents are necessary for the outside world and must not be harmed. Christina and Cara are anxiously waiting for Tobias to show up and let them go. Tris is only yearning to see what is outside the fence. Tobias begins his perspective, remembering the pain of seeing Tris dead while walking towards her cell. Tris immediately recognizes Tobias and embraces him. He explains how Evelyn took control and is denying exit through the fence. Evelyn does not want to help anyone outside the fence. She plans to put Tris, Christina, Cara, and the other prisoners under truth serum to convict them as traitors. Tobias tells Tris she will have to lie during the trial to avoid execution. Tobias must return to his mother, explaining that he doesn't have much time. He desperately kisses Tris and exits the cell. The trial begins …show more content…
Tris, not wanting to hear more of Evelyn's speech, walks through the back hallway. She finds a factionless girl and guy kicking a Candor boy. Tris orders them to stop, but they continue accusing the boy of breaking the dress code. Tris gives the boy her jacket, and he runs off. Afterwards, Tris is thrust into a room, and someone places a bag on her head. They tell her about the "Allegiant", and about the meeting she must attend at Candor headquarters. She is escorted to her room, and the "Allegiant" disappear. Tris finds a note from Tobias, warning her about Caleb's upcoming
Veronica Roth is mostly known for her books from The Divergent Series. All her books so far have been a success but the most controversial one so far is Allegiant. The issue with this book is that the plot has similar references to other topics and can be a very cliché story. Veronica Roth’s Allegiant details on how the protagonist ends up dying like other typical stories and how suspense is added to the story just to be disappointed.
This quote by Tobias (Four) really shows the issues in their relationship. At this point Tris is trying to get answers without Tobias knowing. She has promised him that she will no longer make stupid decisions that could end up killing her. However, Tobias discovered her plan and refuses to let her go on alone. In assents he is putting his life on the line just like she is, to prove a point to her.
Insurgent is the second book in the divergent. There are 4 books. Divergent insurgent Allegiant and four. For Divergent Insurgent and Allegiant, there are all movies but it’s only Allegiant part 1. There is no movie for four yet. The story is Tris is in Abnegation then at the choosing ceremony she chooses Dauntless. At Dauntless she meets a guy name four. She is divergent. Tris and Four grow closer together. Janine injects everyone with a control serum. But did doesn't work for divergent. And they go and kill Abnegation. Because Erudite wants to be the governing faction. Also for information. They Tris and Four are known as divergence. They go to Dauntless headquarters and shut down the serum. I read insurgent and it is my favorite out of
Allegiant by Veronica Roth, is about a girl trying to solve genetic damage. The city of Chicago is surrounded by walls and guarded by a group named Dauntless that are violent. The main character, Tris, escaped the city of Chicago and realizes she and her friends were in there because they were genetically damaged. When arrived at the compound of the Bureau of Genetic Welfare they told her she was genetically pure and that she was a GP (genetically pure). The goal of the experiment they were in was for every one to be genetically pure in the city. The compound was going to erase everyone that is in the city's memories, but someone tried to stop them because they wanted the people in the city dead but failed. Tris and her friends don’t want anyone's
Tobias’ arms are a panacea to all of Tris’ problems, and she always feels better when she is with him. “When he touches me, the hollowed-out feeling in my chest and stomach is not as noticeable. I don’t have to tell him. I can just try to forget- he can help me forget.” (Roth 12)
She was a divergent, a person who overcomes each faction and doesn’t fit into any of them. She has to pick her future based on a gut feeling. In this case, the quester is Beatrice and the place to go is Dauntless. Tris has been following the Dauntless, watching their every move, intrigued by them and secretly admiring their every move (reason to go). Once Tris officially puts her future in the hands of Dauntless, she will soon learn the challenges that will block her in the path. As Foster said in his novel How to Read Literature like a Professor, “The real reason for a quest is always self-knowledge. That’s why questers are so often young, inexperienced, immature, sheltered” (Foster 3). There were dozens of challenges that Tris was going to face. If she didn’t make it through three steps of training/initiation, she would become factionless, simply put, homeless. Homeless for the rest of her life because once you choose your faction, there is no coming
Insurgent begins roughly 30 minutes after Divergent ends. Tris (main character) and her friends are fugitives, Tris’ first faction compound (Amity) is where they find safety. As Tris attempts to track down Tobias’ (Tris’ boyfriend) father, Peter (Tris’ main enemy) sneaks into Tris’ room and tries to steal her hard drive with the simulation data on it. When she catches him stealing her hard drive she beats him up, but Amity has rules against violence so they inject her with peace serum until they can evaluate the situation.
My guess for the answer: Tobias never told anyone the real truth about his origin and needed someone to share that information with. Tris would understand some of Tobias’s fears since she also grew up with Abnegation
Divergent, by Veronica Roth, is the first instalment in a trilogy set in a dystopian society which is separated into five factions. Each faction blames a specific personality trait for society’s problems so strives to overcome that trait by cultivating it in its members. Abnegation blames greed and so pursues humility and selflessness, Amity blames strife and war and thus cultivates peacefulness, Candor blames falsehood and fallacy and so commends honesty, Dauntless blames cowardice and is thus dedicated to bravery, and Erudite blames ignorance and so celebrates intelligence and learning. Once a year all 16 year olds undergo an aptitude test, which reveals which faction they are most suited for. Beatrice 'Tris' Prior receives an inconclusive result, with her personality containing Abnegation, Dauntless and Erudite traits.
However, according to his theory, in order to solve these dilemmas, individuals have to acquire basic strengths needed for the upcoming stage. An example of that would be when Tris stood up for herself and for others. For instance, when Tris jumped from a very high building and wrestled with a young boy who was stronger than her and she did not have the choice to surrender; as a result, she fainted but eventually managed to get up. Similarly, saving her friend who was about to stand against the target who had knives thrown near his head. Therefore, Tris stood up for him and was not frightened to do so. As a result, she stood up against the target and saved her friend. In addition, during the movie, Tris fell in love with Four, which made her develop fidelity and love through the relationship they had. Afterwards, Tris started to acknowledge her identity, strengths and weaknesses. Tris started believing in herself and in the actions and challenges she went through, such as going against the negative norms in the environment she lived in. For instance, she rejected the rules of the environment by not willing to kill innocent people from her family’s factor. Therefore, she managed to save her mother. Likewise, Tris killed one of her friends only because she was trying to secure herself from getting
During the Visiting Day Tris introduces Four to her mother, Natalie. When Natalie questions Four's familiar look, he denies it by simply saying 'No'. This showcases that Tobias dosen't like sharing his past identity. He also doesn't feel the need to expand on the topic. This event illustrates that he doesn't trust people around him enough to engage in normal conversation and has difficulty
Sebastian tells Tina it’s time for him to leave, as he vanishes. FATHER POLLO is thrilled to welcome her back home.
Allegiantia is an incredible book with an incredible story. The third book in this trilogy is about tris, Four, and other divergents and close friends of Tris and Four, to find out who they really are. Tris release a video that changes history. People from outside the fence put all those people in the dystopian chicago to fix the ‘broken” characteristics they had.All the divergents had been healed but the others that weren't were called genetically modified.
