An organization that I am involve in right now is Serve. Serve is a part of my church where I watch the children on Sundays. The purpose of Serve is to provide ministry for the young children, we would provide songs, playtime and snacks for them. The children are able to do arts and crafts, play with toys and listen to Bible lessons. After doing a little research on my church I found out that Vertical Church Vision Statement is "to be a multicultural and multigenerational life-giving church that welcomes unchurched people." Vertical church mission is "to reach people with the life-giving message of Jesus so that they can become fully devoted followers of Him." Yes Serve is doing the things that it needs to do to achieve its vision and mission
(Romans 15:6; 1 Corinthians 6:20; 10:31) He continues by sharing how “the purpose of the church is for the born-again believers within, as well as for the church’s community outside of the local body, whereas the mission, is reserved for the believers and it is what they are supposed to be doing, (110) Malphur also provides the five elements of mission; “first, it is broad, comprehensive, overarching, it is the primary goal which takes precedent over any and all other church mandates and goals. Secondly, it is brief, consisting of a sentence in length. Thirdly, it is Biblical, Fourth, it is a statement, and the fifth element-it is what the ministry should be doing.” (112-113) “Once the mission is developed, it must be communicated.” (126) Vision must be clear, compelling, a picture of what the mission will look like, (128) and it is the ministry’s future. It is personal and once developed it too must be communicated. (143) According to Malphurs, “it can and must be” (128- The author shares how “the mission under no circumstances changes, however, the visions detail and the words used to express them will
The YMCA has a very clear and concise mission statement. Their mission is "to put Christian principles into practice through programs thta build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all".
The mission of ministry should be “that we exist to know Christ, and to make Christ known.” This primarily is accomplished and becomes reality through creating healthy churches that also plant new churches and revitalize existing churches. As the Apostles were united together in ministry, so should God’s people be united in one purpose, vision, and mission! I believe in the essential function of Ministry Action Teams in the church, given that, a key element is found in the word “action.” The church exists so that something might be accomplished.
Galindo analyzes that the fundamental “mission” of a congregation is the same as any other congregation that exists in any part of the world. He argues that though every congregation has a mission and a vision, at the same time, it shares a basic common mission. (43) This reminds me of my home church The First Church of Evanston and my Field Site, The Evanston Vineyard Church. Both churches have a common mission of welcoming people to the church, irrespective of their ethnic, cultural, racial, and economic and, gender backgrounds. The mission is to help people be received in the house of God with due and deserved Christian love so that they feel loved and welcomed. Both these churches encourage church attendees to attend the service and receive the Eucharist.
I had the privilege of interviewing Brian Bagwell for this project. He is, in my opinion, one of most humble, wisest man we have at Church of the Highlands. Once you get through a joke or two, the fruits of the spirit radiate from his personality. A man that I have the privilege to call my mentor and teacher. He is currently serving on staff at the Church of the Highlands as a Dream Team Coordinator. His shares the vision of the church which is passed down from our senior pastor, Chris Hodges. Evangelism is the definition of the church so to speak, Church of the Highlands stands behind the final authority of God’s word which is the bible. It is often said among the staff “we do not argue the essentials, but we can disagree the non essentials.” The church believes and acts in spreading the good news of Jesus Christ, and helping people move through four steps our God has outlined in the Great Commission. Our Church exists to see people saved, delivered, redeemed, and fulfilled. This is accomplished with four systems that allow the people to move through the four steps. The first is weekend services to allow them to know God (saved), small groups to find freedom (delivered), growth track to discover purpose (redeemed), and dream team to be fulfilled and make a difference (fulfilled). This vision is how the church evangelizes (Bagwell). This vision is clear to all members of the church who call Church of the Highlands home, and even clear to people
The strategic objectives that reflect a biblical , or Christian worldview .The way I see the elements of the world view exemplified .The first one Colorado Christian university shall teach students how to learn .A world view for me is time I look at the way I have been challenge to manage time wisely . Time management is very important when getting the assignment completed .While trying to go from work, church, school it don’t seem like it’s a lot of time left to do much more but by the grace of God I have been able to complete each session . Time has never really been as important to me until I became a Leader in the Church and also decided to go back to school. I try my best not wasting my time I learn that there are so much more opportunities that I can have when I use that time right .Someone once told me to either make the time I have to be somewhere and get things done or beat the time so far I been beating that time and it shows that I am dependable and get the job done .The second world view exemplified Be a servant of the Church a world view that I see here is that people think that it’s only the ones that have an official office position is able to be a servant. I think we all can serve in the house of the lord until both believers and nonbelievers truly become a member they won’t fully understand what it takes to have a church flow , function and operate decent and in order . I heard some say because of certain religious belief it
The association organizes mission work locally and internationally to reach people not normally reached by the message of the churches. Whether these churches minister to people here in the community or in another country, such as Honduras, the members of the association work hard to ensure that their
According to Miller and Dess, mission statements are the driving motivation of an organization (1996). The mission statement of the Boys & Girls Clubs Indianapolis (BGCI) is, “Boys & Girls Clubs of Indianapolis believes every young person deserves to live a life filled with hope and opportunity. Because we care about our young people, we provide a safe, educational and positive atmosphere where they can prosper and reach their full potential”. This mission statement does a great job of embodying what BGCI represents and hopes to provide for its members. The mission statement is not something that is unattainable; it is a very well attainable and is a very possible mission. For someone who has never part took in the BGC, it makes them very eager to want to volunteer or have their kids or family members join. Research shows that having a strong mission statement is the first step to overall keeping a firm survival in an organization or business (Miller and Dess, 1996). Theory and practice have helped prove that
Organizations in the community can have many purposes. For example, in my community of New York there is a museum called the Hispanic Society of America. This museum shows Hispanic culture through artwork. The mission of the Hispanic Society of America is to represent the life of every Hispanic person, no matter the difference, to share the Hispanic culture with anyone who visits, and to provide free educational programs to the community.
Purpose/Mission – The mission is to actively represent the community to focus support for every child’s success.
“The mission statement is a short, concise statement describing the purpose and reason for existence. It serves as the framework for the vision statement, which is composed of the key characteristics that leadership desires the organization to become” (Spallina, 2004). Baptist Memorial Hospital-Memphis is one of Tennessee’s highest volume hospitals. Baptist Memorial Healthcare mission is to follow the three-fold ministry of Christ- healing, preaching and teaching. The organization has many programs in place to spread the practices of Christ to the many communities that the hospital serves. The vision is that the organization “will be the provider of choice by transforming the delivery of health care through partnering with patients, families,
There are two aspects of their services the social services or social ministry as they like to call it and the Core program. The Salvation Army provides a soup kitchen four days a week. Monthly they serve about 2,500 people. They serve about 177 people in an hour. They have a food pantry, which provides food for families that have a resident but many not have enough money to buy food. They provide emergency clothes, and food stipends other than the pantry. They do coat drives to provide coats. They have emergency counseling and referrals. They have an ARC detox program. The core program has bible studies for youth because they are a church. They also provide activities for children and teens ages 6 and up. They have drama, arts, and music classes once a week for free. They have troops which is similar to Girls and Boys scouts. Theirs is based of service and god. Girls are taught painting and sewing. The younger children are taught how to serve others, and being well mannered. The boys are taught fishing. A way to keep the children out of the streets and safe. They have church services on Sundays after Sunday school. There most popular service is the food services because of requests and people coming in with needs of food that is their most popular service
Here is the Salvation Army local mission statement “the Salvation Army, part of the universal Christian church, fosters an environment that improves self-sufficiency,
It has been said that worship is the core or center of mission. The ultimate goal of any missionary is to bring people (entire people groups) into a passionate, relationship with God. John Piper states,
Secondly, we are to meet the basic needs of that community and of those around us. These needs may be physical, financial, or spiritual. Most often these needs will be physical at first and the later that opens the door to the spiritual need. The Gospel of Christ is designed to meet all the needs of man. It provides salvation for the soul and requires helping/loving those who are poor or destitute. One of the first tasks for the missionary is to provide a Bible in the native tongue if one isn’t available. This is the sole mission of the parachurch group Wycliffe Translators. Other ministries to the native church will be covered later in more depth. (Kane 297)
